@Comfortably Numbyou can actually use it at many places just like cash.  Home Depot accepts it, a lot of online payments accept it and here in Vegas a whole casino accepts it.  The coinbase account you can sell them for US dollars and have them deposited right into your bank account.

I do not understand why a Bitcoin holds value. My paper dollar is backed by the US government and economy.

I’m not sure why the paper dollar holds value. “Backed by the US government” should be about enough to make it worthless. I can’t think of anything much more useless.
