  1. His two turnovers in the Wyoming game kept us from extending a lead. The defense wasn't helping him any.... No doubt about that.....didn't expect it to. Expected a fourth year starter to stop being a turnover machine.

  3. And since the game wasn't close, I wonder if the ESPNU cameras were looking for something to keep the channel from switching?
  4. Third series was predetermined for Kellogg.
  5. Ditto. Martinez' two turnovers in the Wyoming game did me in.
  6. Nebraska's 3rd down conversion percentage prior to SDSU was 44%. Last year's rate was 43%. The percentage has been better these last two games, but if you exclude the outliers (the bad performance against UCLA and SDSU, a FCS school) the 3rd down conversion rates have been virtually identical in the other three games. The offense's conversion rate under Martinez is fine. It was a reference to 3Q UCLA.
  7. I want the quarterback who converts third downs and who isn't among the NCAA leaders in turnovers.
  8. I'd say he belongs here also......and equally surprising is Ankrah's stat line to help put him here.
  9. Nothing to be seen on this. Two of Spurrier's assistants coming to blows on the sidelines a few weeks ago was more entertaining.
  10. Ankrah should have been a tight end. Suprisingly, he got the quarterback on the ground once today. But apparently he's better at catching the ball than tackling. MLB still a concern. Moss looks good and McMullen is coming along nicely. Our offense looks much more fluid with Armstrong running it.
  11. I love the excuse when I point out the first half of the UCLA game that "UCLA was just emotionally drained, then they woke up". Well, I use that same excuse for the 1st quarter and half against SDSU. Excuses absolutely apply for other teams but not us. Absolutely not us. Took my daughter to that game. Her first game ever. Talk about a roller coaster of a game. We were cheering screaming and high fiving everyone around us. That UCLA score right before half had a slight effect on everyone. The second half drained the life out of everyone. I still cheered when the defense was out there hoping for a stop. We didn't get many. The thing was, I could hear people grumbling "here we go again". And I thought, I think they are right. Here we go......AGAIN. Roller coaster seems to be quite a fitting term for this team and this staff quite frankly. An emotional wreck at times would describe both. You can hate the excuses Accountability and EZ, but the fact is, we've seen this show enough to know the outcome. To start expecting it the way I did after that final score of the half.....well it's just unfortunate but common. In the same breath as you are saying how lame some fans excuses and explanations were, well many fans find some of the coaches excuses and explanations equally annoying. To the point of, no, those excuses don't apply anymore. You want to talk about no excuses.....there's no excuse for UCLA starting each of their third quarter possessions around midfield due to the inability of our offense to convert a third down. The defense continues to come along, gain experience and work on their issues. But I guarantee you Pelini took big time notice of the offensive inefficiency in that second half of UCLA.
  12. I would also agree......and Jay Foreman gave some thoughts on this on the radio the other day.
  13. Exactly, it's about forcing Illinois to prepare for both. Far from a big deal, but advantage good guys. It's actually pretty exciting news.
  14. With their zero national championships in football? Oregon, past 5 years- 56-9 a mnc berth, 3-2 in bowls with 2 of them bcs games, one big loss to a USC team that went on to finish 3rd in the country in 08, next biggest loss? less than twenty to Stanford in an away game. Nebraska- 47-20, 0 bcs game appearances, 2-3 in bowls, multiple blowout losses and or losses that shouldn't happen including OU B12 ship, Texas B12 ship, Wiscy twice, Iowa State, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, TTU. Oregon has had a nice run recently, not "long, long time ago". Zero is still zero. Maybe Frost can help get them one this season.
  15. I personally think it's the safeties our staff doesn't trust in space. I would agree. Hopefully CJax can respond well next to Coop.
  16. Bo's made it ..... http://espn.go.com/c...-10-miley-cyrus It's from 10 days ago.........
  17. Depends on what you mean by this defense
  18. And how many recruits left the program? I wonder if some of them left because of the passive system Bo runs. There are some who have left. Chase Rome comes to mind......but those who have left haven't exactly set the college football world on fire at another school. With good recruiting, someone like Ankrah would have been part of our depth, but not a starter.
  19. This really concerns me. I can imagine opposing coaches taking video to a recruit and showing the DTs playing patty cake, and then asking if they think they will get to the NFL playing contain instead of making plays. It is easier to get to the NFL from a good team. A poorly ranked defense will not produce draft picks, and I am sure this is being used against us. Yet our last two recruiting classes seem to be pretty good. Time will tell, but three years ago the defense wasn't that bad. it has been getting worse every year. If Ankrah and Randle are the best upperclassmen we have on the DL, we definitely whiffed on some recruiting three, four, and five years ago.

  21. Before the Pelini bashing goes into full force on this topic, there are practice tackling restrictions the NCAA has in place. I do not know the details, but I think there are some on here who know them.
