  1. The lack of info or leaks suggests its an existing coach and the timing is dependent on some things that Rhule cannot control.
  2. Jim Leonhard or Glenn Schumann would be nice!
  3. Agree we need to spend big on a DC. I would love Robinson on the staff but it does not appear he has prior DC experience. Perhaps a promotion to DC would entice him though. https://12thman.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/elijah-robinson/1434
  4. Any speculation on who the DC might be? Since we have not heard much, could it be a DC that is still coaching this weekend like Glenn Schumann? Or maybe we are working on Leonhard? I think a stud DC hire will help retain some current players on the fence regarding the state of the program, and it will attract quite a bit of new talent. Someday it would be great to have Suh as a defensive assistant in some capacity.
  5. This program is needing a complete rebuild and I do not blame any players that want to leave after the toxic culture that was exposed this year. The head coach that recruited them was fired and many learned after the fact (if they did not already know while he was still the coach) that Frost had issues with the bottle. They then come to trust and appreciate the interim head coach who they loved and find out he is arrested for attacking his wife. If my son were in such a program I would fully support him looking elsewhere to get a fresh start, and I imagine we will see even more players test the portal. The best way to retain some of the defensive players is to hire a stud defensive coordinator that gets them excited about the new direction of the program.
  6. The future is still very bright for Nebraska. We have a very good new coach with a proven history of turning around other college programs. I would not place too much emphasis on the Joseph story despite it being difficult to absorb in the moment. This is NOTHING like what happened at Penn State with the Sandusky scandal where there was a history of university leadership covering up serious wrongdoings, and despite that horrific situation at PSU, they bounced back relatively quickly from a football perspective.
  7. I get that background checks do not catch everything, but when I have done background checks on my hires, the types of thing that Joseph did in college would have shown up. If that was known by the athletic department, there is no reason he should have been put in such a visible role as interim HC, just as many companies would not allow someone with a similar background obtain a senior position in that company. When you get to these types of visible positions, the focus needs to be on brand and reputation management and ensuring the right person is in place to lead all aspects of a program, especially young men who are still being molded. And with Frost, there had to be questions of his behavior of missing recruiting trips and likely coming to practice where others knew he had been drinking too much. With that said, it appears Rhule is pretty squeaky clean which is a great thing for the program at this time.
  8. So our head coaches this season were a drunk and wife beater? Who runs HR for Nebraska athletics. I am hearing Joseph was guilty of similar charges in college.
  9. Yes the lines are the most important assistant hires. Lets hope the O Line is done right.
  10. Yes this would be a good addition. So far the RB coach has been my favorite addition.
  11. Thank you for signing up here to share your thoughts. Husker fans have had their hopes dashed before so I think many of us our cautiously optimistic about Rhule. I hope the guy has success and can retire here with a few conference titles and one national championship!
  12. From what I have read this appears to be an upgrade for us. I liked Applewhite too.
  13. I have seen a few players tweet there support for Duval.
  14. Not sure. He has been a DL/Run game coordinator at A&M and Temple. https://12thman.com/staff-directory/elijah-robinson/642
  15. If you are not pumped after this press conference, I am not sure anything can get you pumped up. Both Trev and Rhule knocked it out of the park!
  16. I am hopeful that Satterfield will be the long-term answer but in looking at some of the data points, I am not 100% sold yet. And that is ok for us to have differing views on a new assistant's history. I have not done a great deal of in depth research on each offense he led to extrapolate how that might translate at Nebraska. I do think Joseph and Applewhite who were not Frost's buddies worked out pretty well for us this year. Pelini choosing Keith Williams was another situation where he looked for one of the best WR/Recruiting coaches in the country.
