  1. Just to let you know, it wasn't a question from the media. It was during the Q & A at Big Red Breakfast. An audience member asked how society has changed within the last few years that make his job different than it was before. His weed remarks were just part of a longer answer about how kids and society are different than they used to be with regards to personal responsibility and being prepared for the real world.
  2. It was a little weird when he brought it up, then it got a little weirder when he went into it further, but it's not a big deal in my opinion. He was roaming from topic to topic quite a bit this morning (not in a bad way), and I'd rather hear him give his opinion than just give canned answers. I don't think it's as bad as he does, but I'm guessing there was a message to the team in there somewhere. Obviously there was at least one incident with weed this offseason, and maybe he's just getting the word out to the players in a public way - don't even think about testing his limits.
  3. Aw come on the script logo is the best logo! Great list though haha.
  4. This is exactly what I expected it to be. I'm hopeful that Stanton makes a push next year by learning from the 2 above him. I really like what he brings to the table as a runner and I think if he learns to get his reads and throwing down where it needs to be, he'll be an amazing QB. I feel like the same thing could be said about Armstrong. Let's hope we're both right!
  5. Great hustle Great hands Strong route-runners Coaches on the field Bring their lunch pail every day
  6. He redshirted last year, he's still got 4 years left. Plenty of time to be an option.
  7. Definitely not saying we're a finished product, but Ameer, Rose, Armstrong, Mitchell, etc. seem to be a lot better leadership core than we had that season.
  8. I agree with what you're saying in general, but you're really short changing some of the defenses we've had within the last 6 years. Also, I think our culture and leadership seem to be trending upward since that game happened.
  9. I wonder if part of the disconnect that Ralph or anyone else feels is due to the fact that we have a generation of players now who have played for NU during a non-championship era. Back when Ralph was playing I'm sure he had older former players around yukking it up together and reminiscing about the good old days playing for and winning championships, but many players for the past 15 years can't relate as well to those guys because they sadly weren't a part of the same type of tradition during their time here. IF there really is a disconnect between the generations that sucks, and hopefully it gets better, but as time goes by things change a little bit and it's up to everyone involved to keep the connection alive.
  10. Good insight once again from PJ. Guys staying out all night, disregarding the defensive scheme, thinking they had the game in the bag, all turned into an all time embarrassment. I still can't believe that game happened. haha
  11. He's already one of my favorites. He definitely came in with leadership on his mind, and it's gonna pay off big time. It seems like we've had a lot of teams lately with the "lead by example, not by words" type of leaders (Suh, Rex, Taylor) and I'm really excited about the new crop of guys like Rose, Mitchell, Armstrong, and Abdullah who seem to be guys who are more likely to speak up and get after people. We need guys like that around in my opinion.
  12. It's much weirder to assume that NU and/or Bo purposely sought out a soldier and organized this thing for PR reasons, than to assume it was the soldier's idea and Bo agreed to do it. And these things are filmed and put online all the time, it's not like it's a new thing. It's always great to see someone returning home alive, and if he wants to get help from one of the most famous people in the state to make this surprise happen, it just makes it an even cooler experience. I guess I'm just not cynical enough to think NU had some kind of sneaky motive to steal the spotlight. It's obvious that they're taking the initiative to show more of Bo's good side lately, but it seems more like they're opening a window rather than creating something to shove down our throats.
  13. Next step in Bo's image rehab: learn how to smile in photos! haha
  14. I'm hoping to see Armstrong look very crisp and in charge.
  15. I love the idea! And anyone hating on the article because it's from Chatelain just comes off as a dork. There are plenty of articles written by professionals that are like this haha. People with his job aren't only expected to report on facts, they are allowed to come up with ideas and opinions and write them. No big deal, and a lot of his ideas would bring a lot of positivity to the team.
  16. He's had some funny tweets, but Not Tom Osborne was truly hilarious https://twitter.com/FakeTomOsborne
  17. The kind of sad irony of this whole situation is that I think it's REALLY clear that he's just started to be more comfortable here within the last year or so actually. I just think the damage was already done in the past and now that it's all out in the open there's not a clear way to mend it all.
  18. I don't hate Bo as a person or anything, but it's definitely starting to look like the best case scenario here is for us to try to finish out the year strong and have him take another job somewhere else. He's obviously never felt happy here and if that's the case, it would be better off for all parties to move on. I could see him having a lot of success at a smaller school, and I could see us having a lot of success with a coach who is better suited to handle the intense pressure of NU football.
  19. I think this would be a pretty cool idea. If anyone wants to hear a raw uncut reason why Foreman has ideas like this, take a listen to PJ Smith on the Sharp and Benning show the other day. PJ and Foreman seem like they're really friendly with each other so it's not bad blood or anything, but in PJ's on-air defense of Bo, he kind of made points against himself. He's a very honest and passionate guy, and sometimes that rawness gets in the way of his points. He was talking about how the fans that left the OSU game gave up on the players, and so of COURSE they were gonna be pissed at them. There was no hint of understanding why the fans might have left (the team's first half performance). He went on to say that after a loss that happened on Saturday, how can you possibly still be pissed about it on a Tuesday?? It's the little things like that that have crept into the culture that show the real difference I think. The past decade has really beaten the toughness and resolve out of our guys, and that's not just a Bo thing. It's really hard to just decide to have the type of mentality that every single loss is a HUGE blow to the entire state and to yourself, when every Husker team in the past ten years has had quite a few of them. I think Foreman would just like if he or other former players could help Bo establish that classic Husker culture of not tolerating anything less than the best.
  20. hahah nope, man I hope for their sake those guys stay off ALL message boards. haha
