  1. What's the difference if a coach or administrator receives a membership/car as part of his/her benefits package?
  2. 1)Balance the Budget. 2) Pay off debt. Since this can only be done by both raising taxes on pretty much everyone and cutting government spending pretty much everywhere; I don't think we have to worry about me being elected anytime soon.
  3. Set yourself free. It's a refreshing feeling. I'm sure it will be. I was a pretty active republican (served as a county republican committeeman etc.). I can't imagine the landslide that Hillary will win by if people like me are going to stay home on election day. (not actually stay home, but write someone in for president.
  4. If Donald Trump is the Republican nominee, the very next day I am changing my registration from Republican to Independent. I live in a congressional district in Iowa with a first term Republican Congressman who I like a lot and who will be in a tight reelection campaign; but if he campaigns with Trump, instead of distancing himself from Trump, I will not vote for him either. I have already stopped listening/reading Rush, Hannity, Ingraham, and Coulter. How anyone who calls themselves a conservative can support Trump truly baffles me. If fact, I don't understand how anyone who considers him/herself a decent human being can support Trump. Sorry for the rant. I'm just kind of bummed because I'm about to become a conservative without a party.
  5. Everything else remaining the same, I think if you give us either Bethard at QB OR Ferentz as HC, we have a good chance of being undefeated this year.
  6. BR may think he got the last laugh; but doesn't he now run the risk of getting spit in his food or something next time he goes out. It's always a good policy to be really nice to people who handle the food you're going to eat.
  7. To bad Richt wasn't fired last year. Given the choice between Richt or Riley, I would guess 98% of Husker fans would have preferred Richt.
  8. Wasn't one of the great selling points of Riley/Langsdorf their superior ability to develop quaterbacks?
  9. I learned that I couldn't have been more wrong last year when I thought Iowa's AD was an idiot for keeping Ferentz and ours brilliant for replacing Bo with Riley.
  10. Riley/Langsdorf/Armstrong are not good together.
  11. The reason there may be not charges until DNA tests are complete could be as simple as the fact that the alleged assailant could recant his admission that they had consensual sex, if alleged assailant even made that admission to begin with. From everything I've read, TA was the only one who said "everything was consensual". We have no idea if the accused ever made that admission.
  12. Which is why no one's name should be released until someone has been charged. Once it was released that this was reported at TA's house, there was probably a 99.9% chance that eventually a rumor would be started that TA is the one being investigated.
  13. No one has lost their way. If someone was raped, everyone on here wants the rapist punished and the girl to heal both physically and emotionally. We are talking about how this might affect the football team is because this is in the Neb football forum
  14. It's a pretty easy dilemma for the press to fix: Simply don't report the names of ANYONE involved, not the alleged victim, the alleged rapist/assaulter, the location, nothing. There is nothing altruistic about the press' reporting of rape. They do it, and attach the males' name to the allegation, because it provides them with revenue. We've gotten to the point where the press, collectively, has agreed not to provide the names of victims. That's a good thing, and laudable. But they need to go the next step and not report anyone's names, exactly for the reasons you've said. Patrick Kane, the Duke case, now Tommy Armstrong & Jordan Westerkamp - these names are all attached to a heinous word now, "rape." And that's completely unfair to, for certain, Kane and the Duke players. If it turns out there was no assault here, and Armstrong & Westerkamp are completely innocent, great. But their names are the ones attached to this now. It's a double-standard and it's crap, and it should stop. Just curious, should this policy only apply to rape? What about Murder, Attempted Murder, etc. (crimes that are punished more severely than rape). I want reporting done equally. If they report the name of the victim, they should report the name of the alleged. If not one, then not the other. you do realize the policy behind the rule, correct? It has nothing to do with fairness. The policy is to remove a barrier for rape victims to report the crime. It is well documented that rape victims historically have refused to report the crime, expecially against athletes and other prominent figures, for fear of ridicule and even their own safety. Unfortunately, naming a witness or the accused has no effect on whether or not the crime will be reported. Its not fair, but, as they say, life isn't fair. And by not reporting the names of the alleged, it removes an incentive to falsely accuse someone. Like mentioned before, once someone is named, their name is linked to the crime forever, whether guilty or not.
  15. I would think ESPN is correct. This game is a toss up......but of course, we win.
  16. In another you correctly defended the high school football coach in Washington leading a voluntary prayer after football games. If I am not mistaken, this coach was eventually fired. Wouldn't being fired, by a public school district, for practicing your faith be a form of persecution?
  17. Either way I don't care, because it's just words, but I don't htink it's the same thing. There is no Christianophobia in our country, and Christians aren't persecuted in our country, so with the generally positive public view of Christianity, saying something is done by Christian extremists is easy and doesn't bring any sort of baggage. Could that be because the "Christian Extremists" are generally being asshats and holding signs, protesting at funerals while the "Muslim Extremists" are killing people by the thousands.
  18. Okie state only up over Iowa State 35-31 with 1:30 left
  19. And I mentioned a political party where?
  20. You don't think these protests are being led by leftists?
  21. What does anything from the American Left have to do with common sense?
  22. I just looked up the score. You're right. Must have had too much beer. Never mind. Just close this thread. Actually, the decision to go for two early in the fourth quarter is the one that could have killed us. If we kick that extra point, then kick the extra point after the last touchdown, we are up three and a last second FG by Mich state only ties us.
  23. Yeah, and isn't it amazing how much the pass opens up when you establish the run.
