  1. That's the thing, we aren't going to fire Mike Riley in season one. No matter how bad the results. If we did, there is no way we'd be able to attract a decent coach. Lincoln would be toxic.
  2. He's an idiot non-Nebraska politician. Fans can make a statement with empty seats or Fire Slimy Shawn signs.
  3. Hiring the football coach could be the single most important job at Nebraska. The football program basically pays for the entire athletic department. SE refused to listen and evaluate good candidates and made a terrible hire. Having an epic fail at the most vital part of your job is certainly grounds for termination. SE and the entire staff must go before we can be Nebraska again. The sooner the better
  4. Too bad, he's one of the few good guys that it seems everyone likes and respects. Good luck coach
  5. IMHO alternates are fun for 1 game a year. These were hard to read the names though. Better than the ugly white on white, bleah
  6. Dream coach/grand slam = Bill Cowher, hard nosed, tough D, power run, WINS! Oh wait, his personality might be too fiery ;-)
  7. San Diego Chargers: worst record in franchise history.
  8. I've seen a lot of posts complaining about the pass-first calling of the offense. That is exactly what Riley-Langsdorf have done virtually their entire careers. Their offensive belief system is to use the bubble screens, HB flat, slant, short passing game as the main point of the offense and sprinkle in some run and deep throws to mix it up. That is their inherent being, it's who they are, who they've always been, and mindset is extremely unlikely to change. It's why they want to pass on 3rd and 1 instead of run straight at the D. Urban Meyer is a spread run guy, Saban and Harbaugh are power run guys, Paul Johnson is an option guy, Briles and Leach are chuck it all over guys. If you play a video game, you'll likely have your nature too. Everyone does and it's hard to change. One of the few examples of a true adapter is Don Shula when he ran power with Czonka and co., then switched to pass happy to let Marino loose. Very few coaches are able to truly adapt to the skillsets of the players. Many Nebraskans have developed an appreciation and preference for a tough, in-your-face OLine and run game with some option. To hope for us to run over any defense is hoping for MR-DL to change their true self. It's just not gonna happen. They are like Shawn Watson, just naturally want to sling it around. DL himself said something like it's hard to run 3 times in a row. Guess my point is, if you are among those who feel that Nebraska should have a hard-nosed, outwork you, smash mouth style, don't get your hopes up. You can't change the nature of the beast
  9. It doesn't seem that taking over a 9-win team is "rebuilding". Maybe a 5 win team, but 9 win should be going to the next level HIGHER.
  10. Football isn't transitive. Ohio State lost to Virginia Tech last year, but Tech lost to Miami 30-6 last year...does that mean Miami would beat Ohio State? No. This isn't about "transitive", it's about common opponents. Other than head-to-head, common opponents is the most direct comparison of two teams. Our opponents performance is used to determine strength of schedule... If BYU were undefeated, it wouldn't seem like as bad of a loss. If they get completely shut down, then our performance doesn't look so hot.
  11. The boosters were sick of Bo's attitude and this was purely a personality hire, simple as that.
  12. No way, TA is one of the best things we have going. MR and company bring the teams abilities down. These coaches get less out of more!
  13. Poor-mediocre coaching as he has shown for 20 years A guy to win the press conference. Undisciplined teams as he has shown for 20 years Dinky-dunk offense as he has shown for 20 years UNphysical teams as he has shown for 20 years Terrible coordinators as he has kept for years 2-3 years of suffering until people realize the staff just aren't good football coaches, then a new AD and hopefully an actual good coach.
  14. Cincinnati just beat Miami by 11. Michigan held BYU to 105 yds total offense. It's not talent, it's sub-par coaching.
  15. Links? Sporting News has us 46th nationally. Phil Steeles College Football Preview magazine (must buy) CBS Athlon Fox SN I would love for nice guy Riley to kick ass but just think we REALLY have a sub-par staff, the theoretically more objective nation seems to agree. If he hired some good assistants with a history of success, I would have some hope. I highly doubt he will get rid of his buddy Banker. Now it just seems suffer for a couple years until they all have to go.
  16. Here is where our coaching staff is ranked by national pundits: Phil Steele - 11/14 in the BIG Sporting News - 7 in the BIG, 46 nationally Athlon - 40th Fox Sports - not in top 25 CBSports - 48/66 in just the "power 5"
  17. Yep, lets rip on people because they believe MR is a bad hire. Don't good coaches improve their team? Hypothetically, what would you expect of the Huskers next year if JH were hired instead of MR? All I see is excuses for MR and expectations for JH.
  18. does NOT. Michigan hits a home run, Nebraska a ground out. Just a depressing ouch.
  19. Ugh, yet another poor hire. This might end up being the worst staff in the BIG
  20. The new OC BEST rushing season was 41st, usually in the 80s. boy that's really awesome
  21. We owe Pelini a lot less than he owes us. We gave him far more than his ability, experience, and character deserved.Yeah, I guess turning around a bad team, no cheating, graduating players, having players love him doesn't deserve a simple thanks or good luck. Or at least not a ripping. I guessing you don't follow Scott Shanle on twitter You mean the Scott Shanle who never played for Pelini? Yes and I do follow nate gerry, michael rose, valentine, finnin, Rex Burkhead, etc....... who actually played for him and all said Pelini was the best coach they've ever had. He's also the only college coach they ever had. Sort of like when I tell my wife she's my favorite wife. Rex Burkhead, J. Sirles... plenty of former players (even who have had NFL coaches) love Bo.
  22. Lol BTW: runza burgers are fresh meat and delicious. smashburger > 5 guys IMO, we don't have in-n-out. mmm, now I'm hungry
  23. Agreed, I think he was really good too. I'm starting to wonder more and more if it really is MR and his buddies retirement fund.
