  1. Let's not forget our star running back had just come back from a serious injury that week as well.... It wasn't on Tommy. It was on the defense. OK. Tommy looked great that game. Gotcha. The whole team was garbage. A hot mess. That was the game I watched.
  2. if we can put up a similar performance against Wisconsin, we hold them to 14 and I like our chances there Anyone check our past performance playing in Madison??? Or away from Lincoln?
  3. Does anyone else remember Tommy's performance two years ago? 408? Ring any bells??? I am hopeful we escape with a win, but come on...let's be realistic at how we have played in that stadium.
  4. I'm pretty confident, as well. It will be a fun game to watch.I wish I was confident like you two. I've been unimpressed with they way we have played against mediocre competition compared to who Wisconsin has played againstI don't care what Wisconsin has done against other competition. I see the game as a matchup of NU vs. Wisconsin. I think NU has a lot of players that can cause issues for the Badgers. Of course I could be wrong, but that's how I see it right now. I see the Badgers having players that can cause problems for us. I could also be wrong. We struggle in Madison, our last two trips there have been...horrific.
  5. Not. a. chance. (technically, yes, there is a chance...but in the real world, no way). Look who Wisconsin played. Look who we have played. Saturday's game is going to be a battle. I doubt we win. The rest of the sched gets serious. No way we run the table.
  6. Wisconsin is so tough, especially at home. Tons to play for for both teams.
  7. Can someone post video from McMullin's sack the play before? I am at the game and feel like the Gerry penalty was a total make-up call.

This. 20, 25, Not sure what the right number is, but it is far from 40!

Has any team not named Turdue done that to this team? I mean, even Wisconsin needed 2 game winning FG tries. Good grief man, enjoy the Holidays and a little football on a Saturday night. You didn't watch the 2012 B1G Championship, I guess. or their RB hanging an NCAA record for yards in a game on us. I have had a great holiday break and will absolutely watch the game. But that doesn't mean I have to bury my head in the sand and claim that the team deserves to be playing...I don't and I won't, and neither do they. At this point, tonight's game is a gut check. I think they are playing for pride and pride only. Do they have what it takes to play a game and win...when there is nothing on the line and no more games tomorrow? When all they have is the motivation not to engrave the record books with a level of suck rarely seen. That's it. Major suck or minor suck, pick one. GBR

I could not disagree more. After this season, Nebraska doesn't deserve anything except a long offseason. That said, they do have one more game to play.

How would you feel if UCLA runs our team out of Santa Clara like a Wisconsin beatdown? Would the extra practices make it worthwhile?
  12. This is exactly why I feared the bowl would be a bad idea. A win is "meh" but a loss is a disaster. It's a classic high-risk, low-reward scenario that's best avoided. How would a loss to UCLA be a disaster? They are a better team than us this year. There is no difference between losing 7 or 8 games. Purdue and Illinois losses were disasters. UCLA? Nope. Read a few lines above this sentence. I already explained it. Here's the Cliff's Notes version : 5-8 = worst season in 58 years Meh. 5-8 is no different than 5-7 or 5-6. All of them suck. It's a historic difference. It's 50 years difference. Worst record in 8 years? meh Worst record in 58 years? WHOAH!! A bad season is a bad season. Meh. If we had played 13 games in 04 or 07, we probably would have lost 8. Hell, in 02 we needed an extra game and a 17 point 4Q comeback at Kyle Field just to make a bowl game. So again, no big deal, I've seen seasons as crappy as this over the last 15 years. I'm with you. To me, there's very little difference between the two other than what kind of lasting impression will be left. As a whole, the season will go down in history as a disappointment, and the only thing this win/loss will do is shape the narrative heading into the off season. The problem with referencing stats like 'this is the worst record in 58 years' is the data is no longer the same. Guess how many games teams played 60 years ago? Nebraska played 11 per season and that would be including a bowl game. Now, they're up to 12 before you include conference titles and any playoff games. While losing 8 games would certainly be a bigger disappointment statistically... realistically, it doesn't have much significance. Confused. Nebraska isn't playing for conference championships or participating in the playoffs, yet we played more games than what you reference and could still lose 8 games. A loss is a loss.

5-7 teams should NEVER play in a bowl game. Ever. Even if they win, they will still have a losing record. As far as I am concerned, that is a crappy season. 6-6 is the line due to games and revenue. I can live with that, but don't like it. I don't care who you are, 5-7 is bad and not deserving of a bowl. Missouri had enough class (in an otherwise really odd year) to turn down a bowl invitation. Everyone else is just a whore in my opinion. How does it look to the recruits? What if we lose? Do they really think at 5-7 heading to the chicken bowl is cool? If so, maybe those aren't the players we need.
  14. I am a little late, but I think that football points will be the deciding factor. The team that scores more of them will leave with the win.
  15. from ESPN.com Foster Farms Bowl: UCLA vs. Nebraska (Dec. 26, 9:15 p.m., ESPN) This game is a major mismatch for the second consecutive year, as Josh Rosen and the Bruins will dissect Nebraska's defense and send the Huskers to 5-8 in Mike Riley's first season. UCLA 45, Nebraska 24 They still have to play for 60 minutes, though.
  16. Next season the goal will be to have a bowl outside of Florida or California Next season, the goal should be to actually deserve a bowl. Not steal a "win" on a horrifically bad call and then get a bid to a bowl game out of pity. Fact is, we do NOT deserve a bowl this year. We should be more ashamed than excited. Next up: participation trophies and orange slices...count me out. Missouri is the only team with enough class to say thanks but no thanks. We didn't steal a win. Sorry, but MSU benefited from that same rule a couple weeks later and you don't hear anyone crying about how MSU "stole a win on a horrifically bad call". If you understood the rule, you would understand that the official made the correct call on the field. Nobody gave us a bowl invite out of pity, there are rules for determining which teams get an invite and because of those rules NU was at the top of the list for invites. Did we earn our bowl bid? I don't believe so, but I'll take the it and the extra practices that go along with it. Sorry, I do understand the rule and they got it wrong. Completely and totally wrong. Reilly ran himself out of bounds. Period. Watch it again. and again and again if that's what it takes for you to see what happened, as opposed to what you want to see. Blown call. Has happened far too much this season (ask NC about the offsides call).

Missouri is the only team with enough class to say thanks but no thanks. your not a player or a coach so drop the "we" sh#t. this team didn't beg to get a bowl game but as things are they did. Ucla got the same treatment a few years back. Extra practice time wont hurt. Neither are you, that said, as a fan, I use "we" generically to describe the fan base. You know the same people who are tripping all over themselves after "beating" MSU and "deserving" a bowl game. The difference between you and I, is that I am intellectually honest about the state of our program and don't typically flame other posters. This post is self defense. We do not deserve a bowl game. Not even close. But, after UCLA beats the crap out of "The Huskers" (note, I didn't say us)...I will have the last laugh. That will officially be rock bottom. We should not play in this game. But whatever, put on your rose-colored glasses and enjoy the well-deserved game, and carry on. GBR. [edit] Sorry, I also think we should run, not walk, back to the Big Twelve. I don't think we will ever fit in in the B1G. We just don't get the respect we deserve. [Oops, used we again, please replace with Nebraska] Are you even a fan? If you are why would you "laugh" after a loss? Because we shouldn't even be in the bowl discussion, that's why. Because we have nothing to gain and everything to lose. that's why. Sorry, I am all out of kool-aid. I truly believe we do not deserve a bowl game. Even if we win, we still won't be .500. That's pretty pathetic. You would agree, if you are being honest.

  19. Uh, sure. If that helps you feel good. Why not make it 11-1?

  21. I love the criticism of the matchup we so richly don't deserve. 5-8 is going to be a good look for us all summer.
  22. Can you please explain your reasoning? Why sure. We aren't going to play a top tier team in whatever bowl gets saddled with a team that couldn't win half its games. So, the risk of losing would seem to me to far outweigh the "reward" of the extra practice. If I were considering playing at Nebraska, it would certainly have an impact on my decision if we go out and lay another egg (see Purdue game). The MSU win was a gift due to a terrible call that went our way. No other way to describe it. 5 wins, weak schedule. I just can't get excited about going to a bowl under these circumstances.
  23. Pretty sure the teams are allotted about $250k for expenses. Leave the band in Lincoln and keep the travel party to the minimum necessary and is it completely doable. This isn't the Rose Bowl or CFP, it is going to be a garbage bowl against a garbage team...nothing to be proud of. The risk of losing another game to me far outweighs the value of additional practices or recruiting exposure wherever the game might be. Regardless of who we play, a loss in a bowl would be devastating.
  24. Today??? They're old. Otherwise, maybe you can play that game on your xbox and let the rest of us know how it turned out. I will look forward to next season and the promise of better days, you know, for the guys on the field...
