  1. Yeah I think any potential offer for Frost will be close. Herman has a little bit stronger of a track record (as an OC at least) than Frost only because Herman has been OC at multiple schools successfully (Rice, ISU, Ohio State, Texas State) while Frost only has OC experience at Oregon. It's definitely picking nits haha.
  2. The max is probably what Herman got from Texas which is $5.25/yr for 5 years with $25mm of the contract guaranteed. Herman also gets an automatic raise of $250k per year plus incentive bonuses.
  3. If Frost gets UCF to a NY6 bowl a Herman-esque contract should hopefully follow. I'm not sure if I can see Nebraska offering a guy like Frost $5.25mm to start mostly because well, it's Texas and they do it big down there. That being said, I can easily see $4-$4.5mm. Anything less than $4mm/yr is not a good look. Shoot you've got Brohm making $3.3mm at Purdue. Although this week's point spread suggests otherwise...Nebraska job>>Purdue job. I hope Nebraska doesn't make a mistake assuming Frost is going to take a hometown discount. For this instance I do like that Moos is a brand new outsider. He hasn't gotten a chance to be sucked in by Nebraska's....frugalality.
  4. The students were the only smart people apparently as they didn't bother showing up for that dumpster fire of a game.
  5. They're currently in the denial and anger stages of grief. Hard not to blame them. They hit the lotto on a head coach and his alma mater happens to completely $%%^ the bed shortly after he arrives and has them running like a well oiled machine. And this is just after UCF bottoms out after O'Leary had them pumped up. I'd be a little salty as well if I were a UCF fan. It's hard to catch lightning in a bottle twice.
  6. This line is utterly bizarre. I would think it's going to end up around 4 or so. As long as Purdue rolls out Sindelar @ QB Nebraska should be ok. David Blough has looked like crap this year but has rolled up huge stats in his last couple starts v. Nebraska. I don't need Brohm rolling Blough out there for a 'get right' game. I do expect Purdue to be up for Nebraska, they have an outside shot at bowl eligibility this year and stubbed their toe last week. That being said, it's the old hunter v. hunted mentality. Purdue is expected to win this game. How that translates into game performance will be interesting. I would think Nebraska will have a spirited week of practice and come out ready to play. I mean, their a underdog versus Purdue!! If there is any pride left on this team we'll see it. This is going to set the barometer for the last 5 games of the season and ultimately Riley's career at Nebraska. If the kids want Riley around, they'll win and win handily this Saturday. If not...well...let's just say hide yo wife and hide yo kids when Nebraska goes to Penn State.
  7. Penn State is not exactly making this easier are they?
  8. Change the batteries in your sarcasm detector.
  9. I'd say there are quite a few kids that Nebraska has committed that other programs would like. For the players that remain committed you're going to want to lock them up in December. That's going to require face time.
  10. With the early signing period in December that isn't feasible. Gotta hit the ground running to keep the recruiting class together.
  11. I like that Diaco has done a good job of getting lots of guys reps. That will hopefully pay off down the road. Spielman has been a bonified weapon this year. If Nebraska can get some more outside WR help that will just make him more dangerous out of the slot.
  12. Ehhhh, not quite. Holgorsen has shown a much higher propensity to run the ball than Leach ever has. Holgorsen has seemed to do a good job of adjusting his scheme depending on who he has at the skill position. When he had Kendall Hunter @ OSU? Dude was a Doak Walker finalist. Wendell Smallwood? 1500+ rushing yards. He had a 1000 yd rusher last year as well. Did you know that WVU has rushed for more yards than Nebraska these past 3 years? I know it's easy to see Holgorsen and think, "Mike Leach with a mullet". The numbers simply suggest otherwise. I do agree with @HuskerPowerVA that his teams seem to struggle on defense. That being said, he plays in the Big XII and no one really plays any defense except for TCU. I understand your point on the weather, at the same time, Morgantown is only 75 miles away from Pittsburgh. The weather gets pretty crappy there in the winter.
  13. As odd as this is to type this, their game v. Rutgers this week will tell me quite a bit. If Purdue is for real they'll go on the road and cruise pretty comfortably against a terrible Rutgers team. I watched just about the whole Purdue/Whisky game last game for some dumb reason and I couldn't believe how crappy Wisconsin looked. Wisconsin should've won that game by 21+. Purdue to their credit is pretty physical and will try to get after you which is exactly what you need to do when you're limited offensively. I'm not sure what the heck has happened to David Blough but he looks like a shadow of his former self. Knowing Nebraska's luck they'll roll him out there next week and he'll shred. Also +1 to you @brophog, really good analysis.
  14. If Kalu wants to play at the next level, it's going to be at S. I'm guessing the coaches sat down with Kalu and asked him what his goals are. They wouldn't have moved Kalu to safety unless he was on board with it.
  15. Or maybe Diaco thought Kalu would project well as a NFL safety and....moved him to safety? Nah, that makes too much sense.
  16. He used to get pretty wild and woolly. Not sure how things are nowadays. I've been to Morgantown before, the town is stupid hilly. Not to be confused with full of stupid hillbillies.
  17. You know...what about Dana Holgorsen? Dude's an absolute offensive genius and he's done a pretty nice job @ WVU. He's 'only' making $3mm/yr so he's not priced out by any means. Plus, he's a native of Mt. Pleasant, IA so he's got some Midwestern ties.
  18. I'm not trying to pick a fight by any means but have you seen the board lately? It's a bloodbath. I have zero issue with approaching things with a healthy bit of skepticism, if you tell me something is incredible and awesome when evidence points to the contrary, my BS detector is going to be going off a little bit until proven otherwise. Where it gets old is when day in and day out the vocal minority does nothing but harp and harp and harp. I wanted Riley to work out, I really did and I'm disappointed it looks like he's going to be a failure.
  19. Call me crazy but I think Notre Dame wins all the tough games you listed with the exception of Stanford. They have to go to Stanford the week after they play Navy in a sandwich spot. They have a tricky 3 game closing schedule. I do think Miami is doing it with a little bit of smoke and mirrors this year. Losing Walton is going to be really problematic. I guess I'm having some difficulty following you. On one hand you mention Notre Dame is a coaching graveyard yet you also mention that every coach has at least one good season? If the point you're trying to make is that Notre Dame is a tough place to win year in and year out due to the factors I mentioned plus insane expectations than yes, I would agree with you.
  20. I'm not sure I'd go as far as coaching graveyard. Kelly at least got Notre Dame into the national title game a few years ago and he seems to have them trending the right way this year. Wimbush is legit. Anyone coaching Notre Dame is always going to get a little bit of a pass from me due to their academic standards and the fact they consistently play a pretty tough schedule.
  21. That'll be a really interesting situation when Snyder finally steps down. Snyder has one heckuva coaching tree.
  22. Yup, totally agree with you. There should be no reason that Nebraska doesn't know where they stand with Frost should Riley get fired.
  23. How many of the walk on kids that made up the mid 90s teams actually go to NU if given todays scholarship standards? I'd be stunned if a guy like Joel Mackovicka ended up @ Nebraska nowadays.
