  1. Really like him as a coach, has worked under Urban Meyer, teams are consistently competitive. Downside is he's a member of the LDS Church and Utah is as close to a perfect fit for him as possible. That being said, if you're a competent AD you make him tell you no versus assuming he'll say no.
  2. Alberts is the equivalent of the small town hot chick/high school girlfriend. She's always going to be there and you could probably be pretty happy with her if you married her. But everytime you go on vacation/once you go away to college you just start looking around going, 'damn'. I've done executive level search recruiting in the past, Trev Alberts is what we call the comparison candidate. He's the guy who use to seal the deal on the candidate that you really want.
  3. I was stoked to pick up The Raid and The Raid 2 in a package deal I found on Amazon after seeing both movies separately. If anyone is looking for a couple absolute kick a$$ action films, I encourage you to check them out. Don't worry too much about it being in subtitles, you don't need them.
  4. Yeah, it gets a little gross at times. Especially the pizza part.
  5. You're forgetting 6% mix of Runza/Vals or more specifically 5% Runza/Vals 1% cabbage gas
  6. If Niumatalolo didn't leave Navy for BYU (where he was the clear cut #1 choice) then I'm not sure why he would leave Navy for NU. Remember, Niumatalolo is also a member of the LDS Church and one of his sons also plays for BYU.
  7. Sorry mang, Pedro beat you to the punch already.
  8. The highest paid remark is a bit disingenuous since almost half of it is coming from a one time bonus. Plus, SE isn't even the highest paid AD of the bunch. http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/all/director Now, this link doesn't include any deferred compensation as well. I'm certainly nitpicking here, but I also found this in 5 seconds of research. Now, I will grant that Williams does a lot more for Vandy then just AD work, he's a fully tenured professor of law, Vice Chancellor and a couple other things. The great thing is, we as Nebraska fans have occasionally expressed displeasure at not opening up the checkbook for elite talent. SE's pay package shows that Nebraska is very competitive when it comes to AD pay. This is a very, very desirable destination and frankly, a great opportunity. Nebraska's athletics outside of a few sports have been in a downward trend for a while now and if you're the AD that brings NU's athletics (specifically football let's not kid ourselves) back to prominence...that's legacy cementing stuff. Also, as a general rule, you never want to be the guy that replaces 'the' guy (SE replaced TO) you always want to be the guy after the guy. Here's hoping NU is thinking much bigger than just rubber stamping the obvious choice.
  9. Welcome to the board. I would sincerely hope Nebraska can do better than this.
  10. I absolutely get that since Charlotte really only has the Panthers and Bobcats in terms of viable sports outlets. Yes, there is UNC Charlotte but from what I can tell they don't seem to be doing much being a new FBS football member.
  11. I'll take your word for it as I don't live in a city that has a NFL team so I don't get a chance to see the media circus first hand.
  12. Well, then I'd love your thoughts on Lawrence Phillips.
  13. Very true and I get that Philly is a crazy sports town. At least the merry go round slows a little bit in the NFL. I'm not sure if the same can be said when it comes to Nebraska.
  14. Kelly would be a really interesting choice although I'm not sure if he could deal with the fishbowl known as Lincoln. I'd be thrilled if they somehow landed Kelly.
  15. Well, Tommy probably has a lot of time on his hands right now.
  16. Count me in the camp that is a fan of Del Conte. From what I can tell, TCU is also pretty strong academically as well so that's a plus.
  17. Now, as much as I dislike Alberts, he deserves a tip of the cap for hiring Dean Blais for the hockey team.
  18. This most likely stems from the UNO Wrestling situation which was handled...poorly to say the least.
  19. I'm not sure UNO alone can service the debt without getting outside assistance from the University of Nebraska school system as a whole. UNO will have to be really watch themselves on the spending. http://www.omaha.com/news/metro/baxter-arena-finishes-first-year-in-the-red-but-officials/article_f45f25d3-dc90-52a8-b5da-5a502e98b238.html Honestly, I'm not sure. Hockey is the big revenue sport and at least @ Century Link they were able to draw bigger crowds for marquee opponents. I will say this, the atmosphere is a lot better @ Baxter. Plus, selfishly, I live close to UNO so the location is a plus for me. The scenery is much better but the crowds seem more sparse due to the extended space. I'm honestly not sure what the secret sauce is to drawing bigger crowds outside of winning basketball which Hansen has done a nice job in building. Plus, they put an exciting product on the floor with the up tempo style.I know that with the arena they're trying to get to a mini Century Link feel and I really hope it succeeds because it is a gorgeous facility.
  20. It's quite amazing when you think about it. Pro sports are among the most competitive industries on the planet and the fact that Rathman has been able to survive multiple purges either speaks to his ability to get dirt on people or how he's valued in the organization. Either way, a deserved hat tip to Mr. Rathman.
  21. Yeah, I agree that there is almost zero chance that any sports @ UNL get cut. I would pay a decent amount of money to find out the true reason Alberts cut the program. That however, is a topic for a very rainy day!
  22. Trev Alberts is a fu&^%$ snake and if UNL is smart they'll never open up that Pandora's Box. Yes, I'm an ex UNO wrestler so i'm incredibly bitter towards him but he's also done a great job of saddling UNO with a ton of debt from his unnecessary Baxter Arena shenanigans.
  23. The only job I would trust Jason Peter with at Nebraska is chief pill distributor. Just another blowhard from a by gone era. That whole thing reeked of 'back in my day we walked up hill both ways!' Just like the good ol days. Pot meet kettle.
