  1. Good, watching that video, I kept wondering why the cop was doing nothing. He failed to serve and protect and I'm glad he's no longer a police officer. Related, the guy has been charged with a hate crime today as well. Grateful there was a camera to record this so the spineless cop and the a&&hole old man can get the punishment they deserve.
  2. Maybe that congressman that wanted info that the Russians hacked? that would be entertaining in the saddest way possible to have a congressman indicted
  3. "everyone's frustrated" refers to the team in Omaha, apparently I'm the 3rd candidate (not just for this position) that has had some transcript issues and has created delays. My former boss was saying they had hired someone, and a similar situation occurred where they couldn't verify education, and the applicant's school has since closed and has doesn't know how to even begin to get her info updated. I graduated 20 years ago, this is the first time education verification has ever been an issue. Either it's not something done regularly or the third party they use is awful. And the HR lady from VA called me back this afternoon and told that since they cannot verify my education, and that I could have faked my official transcripts, that I have failed my background check for lying on my resume. I am beyond upset. Apparently my old school sent me the transcripts, but according to this HR lady, has not updated the database, and they need to move forward and I am no longer a candidate. The thing that irritates me the most, my work experience, I have all the qualifications that would be needed, but because their legal team views that I 'lied' on my resume, they took a hard pass.
  4. Any assistance on what I can do, should do would be greatly appreciated. Here is the situation. About 2 months ago, a former boss recruited me to her new company. It was a significant pay raise and improved benefits. I went through the process, interviewed, was offered the position, and accepted pending my background check. I was supposed to start 7/9, on 6/29 they call and advise me they are having issues verifying my education, apparently my degree wasn't updated in some national database. I called the school, advise them of the situation, request transcripts, send it to my new company and the third party company doing my background check. They received verification on 7/5 and the third party company updated them on 7/6. I show up on my first day, and was told that they haven't finalized my background check and once that's done, they will get back to me. I have confirmed with their HR later that day that they have received all the corrected information and she would have someone reach out to me. Since then, there's been no contact, HR lady's VM is full, I don't have her email. Emailing my former boss, she's telling me that everyone in the department is frustrated and tells me to keep working with the HR lady. With the fact that I have a signed offer letter, and have passed the background check now, do I have any options besides looking for new job? I quit my last job to start this one and now am just sitting waiting. Do I start applying elsewhere and hope I can find something quick or press the issue with this new company?
  5. First Cassettes I ever bought were Thriller and Purple Rain. First CDs: Too Short--Shorty the Pimp and Sonic Youth--Dirty And for a change up, first concert: AC/DC Flick of the Switch tour
  6. I know he can shoot the three, but he still seems like the old school center to me. It kinda feels like putting Patrick Ewing on the old Run TMC teams. Yeah, Ewing had a great mid range game, he's still a back to the basket center. Boogie is the same way, yeah he's got range, but he seems like the slow it down back to the basket type player. Maybe I didn't watch enough of his games with the Pelicans, but he seems like an odd fit for them.
  7. It's a really interesting fit with Boogie and the Warriors. I always see Boogie as the old school post player, likes to play inside out. That doesn't seem to fit with the Warriors open style, looking for 3s, style offense. I'm curious how those two will work, once Boogie is healthy.
  8. Can't find a link, but ESPN News just sent me that LBJ is talking to KD about starting a new 'superteam' in LA.
  9. I believe, a private business should have the right to say no to a customer. Extreme examples using the cater as example, should a black caterer be forced to make a cake for a nazi family that says "F-bomb all N-Bombs"? No, they should have the right to say, we will not serve you. Public positions should have to serve everyone. For example, the state cannot have individuals denying marriage licenses because it's against the religion they believe in, but that same person, if they owned a floral shop, could say, no we won't provide flowers for a gay wedding. As long as there is no physical harm, a business should be able to choose to do business with whomever they wish. If it hurts their business, that's on them. And people also the right to make those biases public knowledge so someone who doesn't share those biases can choose where to spend their money.
  10. Argentina is done. I know mathematically they have a chance, but they are done. They barely qualified for the WC, have no real talent, teams double/triple team Messi all around the pitch, and the rest of the team is hot garbage, as far as Argentine standards go.
  11. Statement from Montanans for Immigrant Justice and Missoula Rises re: Trump’s Pending Executive Order to Stop Separating Families: This This reads to me that separation will still happen, this executive order is for effect and does NOTHING to actually fix the issue and stop the separation of kids from parents.
  12. OK, I laughed at that. That image. Plus we all know, even in his homerun trot, Trump would be winded by 1st base, by the time he rounds 3rd, he'd be gasping for air, hands on hips walking towards home. And I think he would look like Christie in a baseball uniform, he'd pick one too tight and show off his tiny man bulge.
  13. The Mrs and I were in tears at the 'pirate donut' and the Trump cake and flaming hot cheetos for lips. Is season 2 available?
  14. First "big" trade. Dwight Howard to Brooklyn for Mozgov and future second rounders.
  15. Such a frustratingly great series to watch. Looking forward to this next season.
  16. As a diehard Laker fan, if they can get Kwahi for that package, with Paul George all but locked up, it'll make it that much easier to convince Bron to come. As much as I would hate it, you do that in a heartbeat.
  17. Too bad Messi played so poorly. Iceland was much better defensively than I expected and did a good job of shutting down Argentina.
  18. Love him or hate him, Ronaldo is amazing. What an amazing match that was to watch. Maybe the goal of the cup from Spain, and Ronaldo with an incredible set piece goal.
  19. Two late game goals. Having played this game at a decent level, I can't even imagine the pain of losing a game in the 95th minute on an own goal. Brutal doesn't even begin to describe it.
  20. There is a growing fear that a lot of the kids have and will end up in the hands of traffickers.
  21. This is exactly what this is, a fear tactic! Article from Dec 2017. And I think Kelly floated the idea to Trump before that. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/21/us/trump-immigrant-families-separate.html
  22. 3 great players to pick from, I'd take Vince and Nash. At his prime, Nash was like Curry. A great player, but would you take prime Nash over prime Oscar Robinson? I'd take Robinson, he could do more. Anthony in the NBA has been a steaming pile of dung. And I'm not sure he's ever been steaming. He might just be a cold pile of dung. For me, I'd take prime Westbrook on a team of 5 versus a prime Curry, RW can just do more. Not saying Curry isn't great, he's just a notch below. Or better question, would you take Nash, great shooter and distributor at point or Magic. Not nearly the shooter, more flashy passer, but just as efficient, but could also rebound and post up?
  23. yawner game today. Portugal Spain tomorrow. that's a popcorn game. Looking forward to that match.
  24. especially since Embiid likes to talk. That'll just add fuel to those flames. Add in some trash talk to an already intense series, cumbustion.
