  1. Rolling Stones are WAY over rated. The World Cup is the greatest sporting event, better than March Madness and the Superbowl.
  2. I don't care if you are right, it ruined my gaming life. I literally stopped after that decision, I only played college games to start and when they lost, I no longer had a need for games. Who cares if people are getting screwed over, let me play my college football dammit!
  3. I can't remember if they are on 3 or 4 seasons, but the last season was really good. Really good. Less to complain about following a story line since there is no source material. I'll be interested to see how the start the next season and how the time jump happens for Morgan to come in.
  4. I've read the whisperer theory and that the Mom from Fear (can't think of her name off the top of my head) is Alpha. That would be a major sweve. I don't think that'll happen as I don't think they'll introduce the whisperers until the battle with the saviors is finished. I'm assuming we'll see them after a time jump of some sort.
  5. I'm not a hunter @commando so you can help me understand this. I fully understand wanting to hunt your own ground. What is the benefit of hunting with a semi-automatic on your own ground versus a single shot? What are you hunting on your own ground that the semi would be the gun of choice? I know my dad went deer hunting and he used single shot. Went pheasant hunting and used a shotgun. He always came back with a kill, so I guess that's where I'm confused on why the semi would be the gun of choice for that.
  6. This may have been discussed and I missed it in the thread, those in favor, help me understand these things so I can see the benefit of armed teachers or guards at a school. Here are my concerns, if these can be addressed great, arm the school 1--How does this help us prevent another Las Vegas shooting? Or Orlando nightclub shooting? Or Texas church shooting? All of these weapons, if I remember correctly were obtained legally. Those tragedies, in my opinion/guess will increase if schools get better protection. 2--Statistics vary, but the best I've seen, in a shootout situation police accuracy rate is under 40%. Do we think a teacher is going to do any better? Teachers want to educate, they don't want to be taking down psychopaths. And most experts will tell you, a hand gun versus an AR15, handgun will lose 9 out of 10 times. 3--How is this going to be funded? Trump in his last budget cut education funding. How are we going to fund this when teachers are already having to use personal funds to stock classroom for much needed school supplies. Wouldn't the budget be better served ensuring there are enough supplies and getting banning semi-automatic rifles? 4--Do we really want our kids to become comfortable in a mini-prison? Armed guards, government provided meals, limited time in the yard in a locked/secured facility. For profit prisons (is another debate) is another problem in the US, do we want to condition children to know how to live in a prison? My thoughts for a solution: 1--Ban semi-automatic rifles. There's no need for anyone in society to have one. Manufactures stop making them. Figure out some sort of buy back program and get registered weapons off the street. 2--Secure all schools (because I'm not naive enough to believe that banning them gets them off the street) with bullet proof glass at all entrances and during the school day all entrances are locked. The only way into the school from the public would then be by the office to be checked in. Yes, that still leaves kids vulnerable at recess and PE, but will keep more kids safe in general. 3--Mandatory 1 week waiting period on the purchase of any other type of gun with a much more stringent back ground check. Heavy fines for those areas that fail to report correctly (cough military for not reporting the domestic abuse with the TX shooter cough). Gun shows immediate purchases are no longer allowed. Private sales can still be done. Buyer must have a license (which would require the background check) seller would need to confirm buyer had one and both buyer and seller need to transfer ownership of that gun through the city/county. Failure of seller to confirm buyer has a license results in major fine. 4--Much like cigarettes, create a heavy tax on the sale of bullets. If you want to shoot them, it's going to cost a lot more and that tax goes to help fund better mental health facilities in the state of sale and hospitals that help victims of gun violence to help off-set that cost. I'm not saying this will end mass shootings, but I think if we can go this route, the amount of mass shootings and gun violence in general, will decrease greatly. Then we can start focusing on some of the other issues that led to the mass shooting, mainly better mental health care. And for those who can't live without their semi-automatic rifles, I think I could compromise and allow them in 2 places. Gun ranges and hunting reserves. Those two businesses would then be monitored for the security of the weapons.
  7. Outside of the Carl situation, I wasn't too upset with Gimple and what he's done. In fact, I've actually liked the last season and half. Curious what they do the rest of the season and when they bring in the new antagonist. I'm fairly sure there will be another time jump at the end of this season, maybe Judy grows up and takes some of the roles that Carl would have had. And by the way, I HATE HATE HATE that Kirkman teased that Carl may not die on the show.
  8. Saw that, while being denied, I still think it's a leverage move. Smart for her, she's showing she's willing to walk and has deals in place. I'm sure by end of March she'll have a contract and AMC will have stepped up to the plate. If not, the show will have to deviate so much from source material, it won't be recognizable anymore and will most likely not survive past season 9
  9. Right now she is signed on for a pilot for ABC. For starters, there's no guarantee it will be picked up, and secondly, since it's only a pilot, it's easy for her to get out of it. This is more a leverage move for her to get the pay raise. I'm not too worried about this one yet.
  10. The two I'm listening too right now are 'Congressional Dish' and 'Abe Lincoln's Top Hat' I think both are done really well
  11. It's also why you are seeing Netflix doing more and more (Amazon and Hulu too) original content because distributors are either pulling or pricing themselves out of the market in hopes of creating their own streaming service, like Disney is doing. Basically what's going on now is Netflix is a streaming HBO or Showtime. Hey @Hooked on Huskers are you able to stream those movies on your TV or are you watching on a laptop/ipad or making your TV a second monitor to your laptop? I'm looking for a good streaming service like that, that I can use on my smart TV and not just my tablets/computers.
  12. http://www.cnn.com/2018/02/15/us/florida-school-shooting-latest/?lf-content=229243055:lb-post-a358405aa388ef351808ab1d61913497@livefyre.com&hubRefSrc=permalink And @BIG ERN I think the point people are making, especially when quoting politicians is how disingenuous it is for them to offer prayer and support and then literally do nothing else. They are backhandedly screaming at politicians to do more while the politicians say all the right things and then turn around and collect multiple thousands of dollars from the NRA and do nothing to help prevent this from happening again. And with the case of Trump, actually make easier for it to happen again.
  13. I tried...I really tried to watch these. Started each one. Made it about 3 - 4 seconds in and then the tidal wave of disgust, sadness and anger crashed over me and I just couldn't finish them. What we are seeing is more than just lax gun law issues, more than just inefficient at best mental health care, we are now in a spot where school shootings and gun violence is now just a norm, an every day part of life. An inconvenience that we will see on TV and then move on from and forget about in a few days until it happens again. As a parent, with 3 kids in school, I no longer pray that this stops happening and I recognize being active with whom I vote for to see a change is doing absolutely nothing. While I won't stop being active and trying to vote for people that will make that change, I now pray, that when the day comes that it happens in my community that it doesn't happen at my kids school. That's the best I can hope for at this stage. We are doing nothing to stop it, so now, please just don't let it impact me directly. And that's a sick and disturbing way to deal with this type of tragedy.
  14. I saw the trailer for that this weekend. Looked intense. I'll have to find sometime when the other half isn't home to watch it. She just can't handle most anything violent.
  15. I read tickets being sold, and thought spring game. My bad
  16. Better get your tickets now, hearing 60K+ already sold today.
  17. I've started it twice, following your advise previously about watching it in German. Turns out I have some ADHD or something. I get 20-30 minutes in, get distracted and miss 10 minutes and realize I have no idea what was said because I don't understand nearly as much German as I thought I did.
  18. Good to hear, wonder how much longer before Eppley needs to expand and add more runways/terminals? With my daughter in competitive cheer, we have annual trips to Denver, Dallas, and have qualified consistently for Chicago and Orlando. I usually look at what Eppley can provide, but have also taken flights from KC for some competitions and vacations as it's SO much cheaper and offers more direct flights. I'd like to see Eppley be competitive with KC in terms of size, flghts and prices.
  19. Human Centipede and Human Centipede II aren't that bad. Haven't seen 3 yet. Looking at watching Happy Death Day here in the next few days. Hoping that one is as entertaining as the previews made it look.

    The XFL

If the XFL wants to really stand apart, do something like the NBA, allow 1 and done players. Use the old Cardale Jones line "We didn't go to college to play school" Get the freshman that have some name recognition to football fans after a solid year in college and then say they are draft eligible. Players like Jalen Hurts or Tau (however you spell his last name) from Bama would have a chance to go play professionally. Fromm from Georgia, JD Spielman as a RS FR. There are so many examples. Get the kids before the NFL can get them, lock them into a 3-4 year contract and boom you are getting the talent the NFL would have gotten, and you can build the viability of the your new league. Start in cities like SD, Portland, St Louis, Omaha, OKC, San Antonio. Have games in stadiums that hold 30-35K fans, this will generate a solid and rabid fan base in areas that either no longer have NFL or never have. There's plenty of players, you can build a 10 team league with an additional 55 players (active and practice squad) and have some highly competitive games that could rival the NFL. At this point it's getting the funding to make it work and a solid pay scale. Also, make it competitive with the NFL, salaries may be smaller, but make them guaranteed. Then the 50th through 53rd man on an NFL roster may look at going to the XFL to get all of his money. Players like Kenny Bell, who toil on practice squads can develop, and maybe make an impact in real game situations and get paid more. In the end, this could bode well for the athletes and open up more opportunities to pursue dreams. Another big key, TV. NBC may have some interest, they don't have weekend games and could use some original broadcasting on NBCSports, Fox Sports may be interested on their cable channel. USA Network may also be an option since they have a good relationship with Vince and the WWE. It'll depend on if the XFL wants to go head to head with the NFL. Heck, even adding a $5/month increase to WWE network and stream games live via the network may be a solid option and allow the major highlight shows to show your highlights and you could potentially own your TV rights and not have to negotiate with a broadcast partner. This may also interest more viewers because of the lack of media timeouts and the added bonus of getting WWE PPV. Lastly promote slight rule tweaks. Something like 'in the XFL, you'll know what a catch is'. Do some creative things like a FG from 50+ is worth 4 points. A way to increase scoring, make endzones 15 yards deep. Make more room and the field doesn't 'shorten' quite as much and the offense can get more points. Vince has never been shy of technology, put censors on the ball for TDs and first downs. Maybe test VR cameras on ref hats and player helmets, then fans can watch games after the fact with VR possibilities, imagine in 4 years being able to be 'on the field' when a major play happens, plus it'll open up so much more to the rabid football fan being able to be 'in the action' like that. And as much as we mock the 'hehateme' etc. Let the players have a bit more fun and freedom to celebrate and promote. There's a reason why Oregon gets so much love from teenagers, because of the freedom of their uniform. Let the teams and players have some similar type fun. I'm sure a major company like Adidas or Nike would love to be able to make new uniforms weekly for teams and have them for sale the next week in the home market. There's a lot of potential if they don't go gimmicky with the scrum to see who gets the ball first. Everyone knows all eyes will be on the league when it starts, make it fresh, lock in some young talent and there is potential for this league to stick around. They may not last the long haul, but it may eventually force the NFL to adopt these new tweaks and not be so old.
  21. Anyone see 'Open House' on Netflix? It's a Netflix original horror/thriller movie. Just watched the trailer last night, looks entertaining, going to try and watch that this weekend.
  22. She did the interview in 2011, she signed the NDA about a month before the election in 2016 when reports started surfacing that she wanted to be interviewed on TV about the affair. Once that happened, Trump had to shut her up before the election. So she isn't breaking the NDA, in fact, she's following it by now saying she never had an affair with him.
  23. And the one in TX yesterday. I didn't see much of anything about either of these. It's no longer the big breaking news story.
