  1. Aren't we the first stop on a 5 school trip? I don't think he'll commit while here. I think he'll visit all the schools then commit. I'd expect him to be officially a commit by end of June.
  2. Finally the Warriors used pace and depth and wore down a very depleted Cavs team. This is what I was expecting for much of the series. We'll see how it goes in Roaracle Arena, I'm expecting another game where the Cavs are just physically spent and the Warriors pull away. Hopefully we will never see LeBron's junk ever again, that'll be the biggest win for everyone.
  3. This is correct, however Damon Benning is speculating there could be 3 more departures. And there's been whispers of a LB and OT coming in from JUCO and playing this Fall. Sounds like there is still some things in flux in terms of the final Fall roster.
  4. I'm guessing it's a tribute to the poster named Rojo. I've heard he passed away a few years ago. He was on HuskerPedia before the whole civil war of the site happened. He was a big fan of SP and BC and had some really thick, red lensed glasses.
  5. I'm optimistic but will reserve judgment. We need a lot of work in the trenches. If I am reading this correctly, Riley's staff has not secured a single lineman on either side of the ball? Time to get to work there. Not for 2016. They did get Jalin from OK for the class that just signed.
  6. Just testing Bray to see if he should get that raise everyone wants to give him due to his recruiting prowess. If he can give us serviceable LB play next season, he'll get a nice bump in pay.
  7. That's honestly how I feel about most playoff series, if I'm following your analogy. I think the format the NBA uses is a great way to determine a champion, but just like hockey and baseball, it takes forever to determine a victor. Specifically, in terms of hockey, the fact that we're playing hockey in June right now is ridiculous. Honestly, same with basketball. I know people love the sports and it's all about making as much money as possible for these organizations, but think about it... we're less than three months away from the start of the football season. NFL exhibition games are in two months. I know people somewhat like to gloss over the MLB regular season and the playoffs give them an opportunity to do that, but it's still pretty odd. I would honestly be in favor of starting NBA or NHL or both later so that they end closer to the start of football season. Most of the summer is terrible for sports unless you like baseball (which I don't) or the summer Olympics are on I still just find it weird to be playing winter sports (i.e. hockey) in summer, and basketball starts in November or early December. Six months is a long time. I'd consider a temporary vegetable-like state of mind from about mid-June until the end of August! I enjoy baseball but not enough to watch my team's games all the time and I really only key in around the playoffs. Technically the regular season starts Halloween night with a handful of marquee games. I agree though, it takes WAY too long to determine a champion. Spreading out games to allow for "travel" is just BS. Making the first round a best of 7 a few years ago also added another week. I really think the season/playoffs should go from Halloween to Memorial Day. TV sadly doesn't agree with me and keeps stretching it out more and more. As for this series, Cleveland showed some gritty defense after losing their second top 25 active NBA player for the playoffs. This team has no business being in the Finals, let alone tied at one. As much as it pains me to say it, it just shows how unbelievably talented LBJ is. Few, if any players, could will a team to this level. Not sure if he'll have the energy to maintain this play for the entire series, as he got gassed at OT in game 1 and basically halftime of game 2. I still think GS has more depth and if they figure out how to pick up the pace will wear down this Cavs team and win the series in 6 games at most. And I can't envision Steph having that bad of shooting night again this decade.
  8. I remember that Baul played soccer at Papio. I am sure his speed and athleticism were a nightmare in the open field of soccer. He wasn't the most skilled on the pitch. In fact he was average at best with his skill sets, but we couldn't play an offsides trap on him because he was just so damn fast. Average skills be damned, 1-1 with a keeper he'll still win more times than not. And playing our D back against him just opened up the mid field for his more skilled teammates. His team throttled us every time. And yes, he was a nightmare for me. He actually went to Colorado St on a soccer scholarship before transferring back to UNL. Because I played against him a few times, I always rooted for him. Same with Strickland, different sport, but I played some pick up basketball games against him when we were both in HS. Felt like I had a personal connection to both of them so I rooted more for them to succeed. Even though neither would probably no me from Adam down the street.
  9. Reggie Baul...I used to play against him in soccer. I had the dubious task of trying to check him. That did not end well for me.
  10. I was thinking Dorsey, both of whom had success in a Pelini defense. But I like the Sapp comparison better. And to be honest, for me, it's like picking which kid I love more, I really can't. If I had to choose, I'd pick Sapp, just because I'd love to hear his trash talk as he destroyed lineman. As for Sean Taylor, may have been the BEST safety the NFL would have ever had. But, his impact, and the impact of anyone in the back 4 isn't nearly as profound as the impact that a superior DT will have.
  11. I remember missing the world premier of this on MTV the night before, and everyone at school was talking about it. I sat and watched MTV for hours on end just to see this video. Did that for months.
  12. My now 7 year old daughter, when she was five, we had a small fire in the backyard, making smores and just hanging out. D: Dad it would be great if a bird just flew into the fire Me: What??!!?? D: Yeah, because I want popcorn Me: WHAT??!!?? D: Well you know, if you cook corn, it becomes popcorn, and birds eat corn, so if a bird flies into the fire, the corn in its stomach will pop and we can have popcorn. Me:..... D: DUH Dad Me:... D:Why don't birds fly in the fire for us? I get up and make some popcorn at this stage Another incident with her Grandpa after explaining something to her: And do you know why I know this? D: Because you are really old
  13. We are the only team in not all caps. Either we are #15 or we are #1. No other reason why we aren't all capped like all the other schools.
  14. Heard Boaz had a warrant issued 4/16 and he was picked up today on marijuana charges. Ishmail may be involved somehow as well.
  15. A lot of smoke around the new staff not showing him a lot of interest and him feeling like the new staff doesn't want him and is re-opening his recruitment.
  16. and as of now, none are putting the season in jeopardy. Both Davie and TA could have gone if it was game week. Still waiting to hear the outcome of Irons' injury, but all in all I think MR got his wish for spring ball regarding injuries.
  17. This depends if Riley renewed the scholarships that went to walk-ons last year, like Fyfe. True, and I haven't heard reports that either have not had there scholarships renewed so I am working under the assumption they have. This young man is a JUCO, it is safe to say he isn't coming to DONU to sit a year. Assuming all schollies were renewed, we should count on 4 players leaving by AUG. That's my thoughts too. I assume at least 4 will be moved in some capacity. And Fyfe is a name near the top of that list, right or wrong. I also wouldn't be surprised to hear about 4th string RB, as young and as talented as we are there, to be looking as well. And a DB or two. Bondi as well.
  18. This depends if Riley renewed the scholarships that went to walk-ons last year, like Fyfe. True, and I haven't heard reports that either have not had there scholarships renewed so I am working under the assumption they have.
  19. They only count towards your scholly limit if they are getting a scholarship in some other fashion. A walk on who plays, who is truly paying his own way, will not count against the 85 limit. Example, Doug McDermott at Creighton was a walk on his senior year. He did not receive any other scholarship money and therefore didn't count against Creighton's scholarship limit for basketball. A walk on who doesn't play, and has an academic scholarship, doesn't count towards the 85 limit. A walk on that plays and has an academic scholarship will count towards the 85 limit. This is to prevent loading up 'academic' scholarships for football players and bypassing the 85 scholarship limit. So if he doesn't play he stays on academic scholarship and doesn't count towards the 85 limit. The moment he plays during a game that counts, his scholarship is transferred from academic to athletic and counts towards the 85. With Nebraska currently at 88 scholarships, for him to play, we need to lose 4 players between now and BYU. As it stands, we need to lose 3 before then. Either the coaching staff has strong indications that we will lose at least 4 players to transfer or medical hardship, or he won't be playing this up coming season.
  20. Rumor has it that the coaches don't like to offer QBs until they've evaluated in person. Since he couldn't do anything on his visit here, the offer has to wait until they can watch him sling it around the field in person.
  21. Good for him...though that could be an issue for the football team. He'll switch to count against the 85 limit if he kicks in a game. As a walk on he could have played and not impacted the 85 limit. Either we lose 4 players between now and the fall or he's not playing this fall.
  22. I'm hoping. I think it would be cool that Riley's first Spring Game would be the largest home crowd he's ever had. How crazy is that? Coaching for how many years, and a practice would set the record for largest crowd he's had in his own stadium. That'll last for a few months at least.
  23. This will be the largest home crowd in Mike Riley's career. Bigger than anything he ever had with Oregon State, and Qualcomm stadium (home of the Chargers) seats 70,561. If 72K+ show up, this will be his personal record until the season starts.
