  1. Yes, THIS. Specifically the two-part breakdown of the Frost offense (and why it drives defenses NUTS) is fantastic: Talking Scott Frost & Talking Scott Frost Part II These two articles were written before Frost was even hired. The author (whoever he is) tells me his time has been at a premium, but he hopes to have new content - perhaps as early as this weekend. The author goes by RK and describes himself just as " a guy with a keyboard" but he seems to know his stuff and writes about it very well.

  4. Seriously, I don't see anything about that in the rules.
  5. If I had known that I would have taken my drone to Lincoln today and just happened to hover over the practice field for a couple of hours.
  6. ...or did I misunderstand? Thought there would be some news/reaction by now.
  7. Frankly, I would prefer this to be our mascot to L'il Red.
  8. Duck-R is just a euphemism for what it is really called (which rhymes with Duck).
  9. That was cited as one of the reasons that Chip Kelly was not as successful in the NFL: Refs would not let him snap it as fast as they wanted.
  10. I swear, we could make this thread be totally about iconic images of Verduzco and it would be OK with me. LOL
  11. Were all of his highlights against that one team? With that poor tackling they looked the the football equivalent of the Harlem Globetrotters patsy opponents, the Washington Generals.
  12. - source Of course, UCF was trying to build fan support, while Nebraska has it in spades. And it would take a lot of BBQ to feed the fans that would stick around, I'm sure - but that could be controlled by raising the price for the BBQ. Speaking of BBQ, wasn't there one of the coaches that used to have players over for BBQ at UCF? Has anybody heard if that has happened at Nebraska yet? It was supposed to be part of the team building and the UCF players seemed to really enjoy it, if memory serves.
  13. There was a quote from one of the scrimmages last week that when Chinander's defense was jumping around and bringing pressure, the offense didn't look so good. But when they went more vanilla, then the offense started to move. Now I'm assuming that was with both Martinez and Gebbia at the helm, but it is a little concerning because I doubt our opponent's defenses will take long to figure that out, so we'd better learn to deal with it. This may have had more to do with the offensive line dealing with it, than the QBs, I don't know. In any event, I think if I was a defensive coordinator, there is one of these QBs that concerns me a lot more than another. THAT is the guy we need to go with. In my book, the QB that is the bigger breakaway threat to run, puts the most pressure on the D.
  14. Here's a preview of the coaches comments following today's "situational scrimmage":
  15. The one who looks like he’s having the time of his life?
  16. I’ve been reviewing Frost & Company’s comments regarding their QB selection at UCF (as well as a bit of the media’s) for clues. Here is the media discussing QBs prior to the 2016 season. Milton is not even mentioned. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/videos/81244174-132.html By September 17th, Milton was named the starter with Frost declaring that he has the “it factor”. Turns out his instincts were right about that. https://247sports.com/college/central-florida/Article/True-freshman-quarterback-McKenzie-Milton-will-start-for-UCF-Saturday-versus-Maryland-47520631/ Yet in 2017, In this article on August 16, Frost “stopped short of naming him the outright starter” to start the season as a sophomore. Yet we all know how that season went & how Milton was arguably the 2nd best QB performer in the nation, behind Baker Mayfield. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/ucf-knights/knights-notepad/os-sp-ucf-football-0817-story.html It truly appears that this staff does not ever want a player to be totally comfortable and to keep the pressure to perform on them (or be replaced) all season long. (And the fact that you started last year doesn’t mean You won’t have to compete to remain the starter the next year). I don’t see this as a bad thing and it means that the grading and evaluating and performance chart is going to be a part of game evaluation all season, every season. Although the QB competition is probably much closer this year at Nebraska than it was at UCF, I think EVERYONE saw in the Spring Game who had “The it factor” and it was not the guy that Riley recruited to Nebraska, capable thrower that he is. Gebbia may be one of the most talented Number 2 QBs in the nation, and we could very well need him. But my money is on Martinez being the starter, probably for Akron, but it would not surprise me if Akron turns out to be a game where BOTH play significant time as the evaluation continues into game situations. Martinez will have the job by Week 3 & if he doesn’t for Akron it will only be because this staff wants to keep the pressure on him to turn him into an even finer diamond. I voted Martinez.
  17. Well he said this last Saturday.
  18. Good point. This is the First Thing that might have a bit of a mismanagement that we've seen from the new regime.
