    Sonofa.....boy did it just rain hard. Wife says we have water in the basement around the furnace (not from a window well) and I've never had that happen before. Either I have a new roof leak or more likely it came down the furnace flue. Sure am excited to see what awaits at home:-(

      But honestly, I don't think it's ever rained quite this hard here in about the last 30 years. It was pretty impressive.

      The only time it's OK to get water in the house is never.

      Several thoughts. Is the basement wall in the furnace room finished with drywall? If not is the wall wet anywhere? Could you have a crack in the wall and a low spot outside? I have seen when there is a low spot next to a foundation and rain is wind driven against the house that all that water runs straight down the house and puddles in the low spot. If you have had very dry conditions, it's possible the ground has pulled away from the house slightly giving that rain water a tunnel to...
