I just don't want his classless act with my Broncos. He belongs with the Raiders so that's where he should go. Then it won't seem so out of place the next time he tries to stomp on somebody.

  2. Thanks for helping to keep my neck limber. Everytime I read one of your posts, I end up shaking my head side to side. Every once in awhile a vertebrae will pop and it feels magnificent. So, thanks for that.
  3. I see what you're saying but, let's hope these student athletes won't make a decision based on $1,100 per year in spending money. (unless it benefits us )
  4. I'm a huge Osborne fan (or was) but every time he opens his yapper about Pelini and expectations. I wish he'd stfu. He is as annoying as some of the fans that think 9 wins, while getting your doors blown off twice per year and winning no games of importance, is something special. Never thought I would get to this point but Tom needs to ride off into the sunset and quit throwing in his 2 cents. Pelini was never going to morph into TO #2, the glory years were not on the horizon as they always seemed to be when Tom was on the sideline.
  5. I get that a lot of posters here are jaded to the point they dont want to think about anything thats transpired over the last 7 years. But personally I think thats unfair to all the players that have come through here. There have been some pretty memorable events that happened under Bo's leadership whether you like him or not. Its pretty commonly accepted that anything with a "what if" tag is just a hypothetical and nothing more. Had I started out saying "If only Bo had done this and this he would still be our coach and that would make me giddy!" THEN I could see why this topic may upset folks. All in all, its pretty silly to get upset over a topic simply reminiscing what could have been. We all want trophies and greatness. Looking back wishing things could have gone differently doesnt change the future. I agree with that. It isn't fair to all the players that came through the program during the Callahan and Pelini eras. I get it. But, it's not necessarily my job to be fair. I'm just being honest about my feelings on the matter. It really sucks for guys like Rex, Ameer, LaVonte, etc., awesome players and great people that had the misfortune of being here under the wrong leadership. And btw, I'm not upset, at all. I'm just filling dead time by commenting like everyone else. Hoping my outlook changes some once we start getting news from spring ball and start seeing some of the results of the Riley hire. I am very excited and hopeful that the program has finally turned a corner in the right direction. It's been way too long floundering in limbo and mediocrity.
  6. I think the way it comes off Redux is that you're searching for a way that Bo would've succeeded here. Many of us are just glad he's gone and aren't interested in the few eventualities that may have led to him still being here. You haven't said you want Riley to fail but it is sort of implied when a person constantly denies how bad Pelini was and seems to be trying to find that magic moment where maybe everything would've been different. Sorry, that may not be it at all but, it sure can seem like that.
  7. Still clear as mud but thanks for the effort. So, the differences basically come about depending on how each school decides to determine cost of attendance aND due to regional cost of living. Still doesn't seem like a fair or equitable system. So, cost of living in Lincoln is supposedly greater than in Columbus or Michigan? By $3k per year? I'm not buying it but am all for it if it gives us an advantage.
  8. Could someone briefly explain why the stipend amounts vary by school. I'm not understanding how/why one school could do $5K or, in the case of Texas $10K, while other schools are limited to $2K+/-. Doesn't seem like a very fair system or one that is based on any common sense.
  9. Sure doesn't seem like a good way to get more presidential portrait work. I was never a huge Clinton fan but this strikes me as being a little petty and uncalled for. I think the "shadows" and "stains" on his presidency will endure on their own merit without Mr. Axetogrind Artist throwing in his 2 bits.
  10. Here's another good one- If it's for vinyl siding, act all interested but then ask them how they attach it to brick because your house is 100% brick. Sometimes they are dumbfounded and don't know how to answer. Other times, the really stupid ones, will act like it would make sense for you to put their inferior product over a brick exterior. Usually though they will just hang up.
  11. I answer the door. If it's neighborhood kids that I know, I'll buy whatever they're selling to help support their sport/activity/school. If it's anybody older or selling for any other reason than a youth sport or activity, they get sent packing right away. I've got no problem whatsoever making it short and decisive that they are wasting their time with me. I do the same thing with phone sales- tell them that I'm not interested and hang up on them before they can get another word in. My wife will ignore the call and let the phone ring, I'll pick it right up and I sort of enjoy being a rude dick. I pretty much despise phone sales people. At work, I will usually throw in the request that they remove us from their call list. I think it works sometimes. I actually scheduled a business consulting firm to come meet with me. They had called numerous times and were very pushy. They were based out of the Denver area (we're 50 miles north of there). So, I finally said "yeah, come on up, I'll meet with ya". When Mr. McDouchebag arrived I simply asked him if they would quit calling us now because every time they call, I was going to schedule them again and didn't care how many trips they wasted. These business consultants are the absolute worst in my book. Still get numerous repeat calls from a few different ones. I'll tell 'em to F off whenever they call.....but they still call back more. Slime of the earth IMO.
  12. I understand. But the overblown credit Riley gets for his ability to utilize his personnel has not translated to the on the field success we are allegedly looking for at Nebraska. When does proper utilization of talent lead to 3-9 records? Here's a constructive idea; Why don't you take a few months off of posting your negative bs and go on a private coaching search. You can find the best guy for the job, give a written report to Eichorst and everything. Since you apparently know so f'ing much, wouldn't this be the best way for you to help your team? Would have to be much more productive than be laboring the points you have been. Or maybe you could come to the realization that Nebraska is not Oregon State and that there are many more factors that contribute to on field results than only who the head coach is.
  13. Sorry. You're right. I probably took it way too serious when it is just a filler topic while nothing is going on. I just really struggle to treat anything that happened from call to Bo as having the possibility of being special. Unfortunately that period of time is a rather large portion of our recent history and many younger posters don't have firsthand experience of truly glorious years. It makes me sad for them but maybe I should be sad for myself since I really can't appreciate the last 12 years.
  14. If you choose to focus on the bad thats your choice. But there were plenty memorable events that took place over the last 7 years, events that ascend past Bo himself. The battle is over, he is gone. I'm not focused on the bad or choosing to ignore the few good things that may have happened. But yeah, I sort of glaze over when somebody wants to go back 7 years, to a quite unmemorable year, and throws out a what if scenario that really was not going change the trajectory at all. Bo was still going to be Bo. One injury scenario or one game scenario change sure as hell was not going to change him into some kind of good coach and it wasn't going to have any meaningful impact on a team that had way more problems than 1 or 2 small scenario changes might fix. It's like some people still can't recognize how severe of a problem Pelini or Callahan were as HC's here. It's sad that anyone could think one injury in our favor or good bounce of the ball would've changed anything. It wouldn't and didn't. As far as what I'm focused on, that would be hoping and praying that Reilly can and will do a much better job than his predecessors. I am very confident he will. That seems a lot more productive than trying to construct a scenario where Bo could succeed when the essence of the problem was Bo himself.
  15. These "what if" scenarios from the Callahan/Pelini years just don't interest me. I remember details, players, etc. from the 70's, 80's, & 90's no problem. But, when you start throwing out Ganz, Lee, Callahan, etc., sorry.........I was tuned way out, a direct result of the terrible product on the field. I watched all the games but the emotional investment was sorely lacking. I'm guessing the Pelini years will also quickly fade from memory as there just was not very much that was special or memorable. When the antics and outbursts of the coach are the first things that come to mind, well there's a problem. Here's hoping that Riley can bring back some mojo for the program.
  16. Just had this past weekend. Came here to recommend and saw you beat me to it. Very good stout, very chocolatey.....me like a lot.
  17. Insalata Caprese.....Fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil drizzled with olive oil. And beer and wine.
  18. Watson and/or Beck may have been shortchanged by the fan base but it is hard to tell since they worked under meglamaniac Bo. I follow the gist of your OP until you start to lump Pelini in with those OC's. I think it's been pretty well exhibited that problems number 1 through 45 began directly with Bo. Whether or not Watson or Beck were a little better than generally considered is sort of beside the point at this juncture. We'll never know what they might've been able to do at Nebraska. All we know is it sure didn't seem real special while they were here.

That was a fine bit of lawyering. Funny his "clients" didn't seem to be too appreciative.

They did both get pretty severely broken legs out the deal. But, with losing an eye or death other possibilities I would agree.

Such a good show so far..

  20. One of Pelini's loyalists is some guy named Osborne. So? What does that mean to you? Since Osborne is the epitome of all things Husker, do you think that means Bo was a good thing? You're constantly throwing in little comments like this but you don't seem to have the balls to directly say what you mean. Now is your chance.
  21. I had to go about 8 pages deep to resurrect it but it was the first one that seemed to fit and I sure wasn't going to start a new one.
  22. This seems like an appropriate thread for this. A guy I know went to a recruiting banquet a couple days ago, meet some of the new coaches, and talked to some department insiders. One of these insiders worked very closely with Pelini and had some unflattering things to say about him. Said that Bo had his favorite players and coaches and everyone else was treated like sh#t. Said it was pretty widely known that Bo would rather lose, doing it his way with his people, than to accept help or ideas from others. Apparently the coaching staff had addressed the problem of what Wisconsin was doing to us but Bo would not implement any of their possible solutions. Said the issues was brought up to him when things started going south once again and he flat out refused to let them change anything. This is all I've gotten so far but this guy said there were many more unbelievable stories and that we are extremely lucky he is no longer here. I realize this may not seem like earth shattering news at this point but it sure does help put a few things in perspective and sheds light on why adjustments weren't made against all common sense.
  23. Hmmmmm..... We were told you killed a guy in Reno just to watch him die, kicked puppies, and peed in the pool. Edit; well not in so many words.... they could tell us why but then they'd have to kill us is more how it went.
  24. Absolutely they can, and have. Doesn't mean people have to take it without speaking out against it. Hopefully some people take a step back and realize they are defending something that really isn't worth defending. And maybe, if they really man up, they'll bring back all the excellent contributors to this board that were run off over something so petty.
