  1. That's what a volleyball team is supposed to look like. Congrats Tood. We're in for a rollercoaster ride with my daughters team this year. First power tournament they finished 1-4 and dead last (8th) in their division. But, they played well for the most part and the team they did beat took first place so go figure. Her 2nd power tournament was Superbowl Sunday and they went 4-0 and took first place. Won first 3 games in 2 sets each and the championship game went past regulation points in all 3 sets. Like 29-27, 26-28, 16-14. It was real edge of your seat stuff. I missed the first quarter of the SB because of volleyball.....wish it would've taken about 3 hours longer now.
  2. Can we just eliminate Keith Jackson (the OU player) completely. Seemed he was a thorn in our side for about 7 years running.
  3. So, what you're saying is you do not have a wood burning stove or fireplace and you're too lazy to try to salvage the frame? Have you tried Goodwill?
  4. Going with some of the guys from work today to Pho Duy for Vietnamese noodle bowls and spring rolls. Yum.
  5. This made me laugh. +1 Sometimes it's the obvious that escapes us.
  6. He embodied what it meant to be a Husker! The respect he is deservedly getting is more than for playing time or being the best that ever was! What does that even mean "he embodied what it meant to be a Husker"? Again, I am not saying anything bad about how he was as a person or his character, I am just going with his on the field performance. Let's say Frazier doesn't come back in and lead NU in the 4th quarter against Miami. Do the thoughts about Berringer change if he is remembered as the QB who threw a 4th quarter INT against Miami when we had first and goal from the 3 yard line? We all know what you're trying to say here but, trust me, you aren't going to get anywhere going down this road. There are some subjects that are better left alone. I can't totally explain it; I can separate the one field/off field issues for LP but it cannot be done for BB. Brook did embody what it meant to be a Husker. I think you know what that means without attempting to analyze his on field accomplishments as they relate to other NU QB's. That is not the issue. Never was, never will be.
  7. Well said Mr. Accountability. I am also currently reading that book. Just got through the Darlington chapter. It is eye opening not seeing ANY negative comments about LP, except of course about the tragedy of the bad things he has done. Maybe the thing we should want changed is LP's upbringing.
  8. Howabout, LP from answering that phone call and going to SF's apartment? Maybe he doesn't spiral if without that one event. I've gotta say he was the most dominate RB I've ever seen in a Husker uniform. But he sure did invite a sh#tstorm of controversy. There's no way we can say that a single phone call turned him into the monster he became. No one just has a Good or Evil switch, there is more to it than a single event. LP surely would have done something else stupid to embarass the university even if that one night didn't happen. He continued to do horrible things long after that. I think even his teammates from the time, on the best team in history, have noted that he was one of the best football players they had ever been around. But, I think we would have been fine without him and without the tarnish that he brought to an otherwise outstanding time period. I absolutely agree, we would have been fine without him and he was definitely a stain on the era and the perception of our program. But, there are 2 things I would personally have missed if he never put on the N. 1- The way TO handled his situation had a huge positive influence on my thoughts of TO as a person. I realize it had the opposite effect with many naysayers but I couldn't be more proud that TO tried to do what was best for LP as a person, even if hindsight shows us he should've just cut him loose. I bleed husker red through and through, always have-always will but, I am an even bigger fan of Dr. Tom Osborne. 2- I would've missed never seeing him carry the rock. Personal issues aside, he was a beast of a runner and, by all accounts, a selfless teammate with an exceptional work ethic. I am glad that we got to experience those things even though the negatives outweighed the positives in the end.
  9. I agree about Brook Berringer but that kind of takes the fun out of the thread. How about we concede that is the winner and continue with our trivial by comparison ideas.

  11. Happy Birthday to HB's scourge of Jersey, the Dakota kid, the one and only Mr. Walksalone. Have a good one buddy.

Yes, happy birthday. Hope you enjoy the day and more!

  12. Gotta go with Pederson. Callahan was tempting but he doesn't happen without pede and pede surely would've found another way to screw us over. Another tempting one would be the officiating crew in the 82 Penn St game or at the very least, that crooked boundary line.
  13. Good story and a classy gesture. Sounds just like the deal with Darlington. Too bad more coaches/programs don't handle things this way.
  14. Pretty much this^ I answered "give opinions and not force a decision" which I believe would effectively handle most reasonable situations. But there are kids who aren't mature enough or will weigh the wrong things and there are also parents who may be overbearing or not consider the right issues, so there is not a definite one size fits all answer.
  15. I don't have much to add but I do feel the need to point out that the ideas of creationism and evolution do not have to be mutually exclusive. I'm a fairly smart guy, I have a pretty good grasp of science, big bang theory (the TV show too...), evolution, etc. and I have yet to have anyone prove to me that all of the scientific evidence equates to there being no creator. I do acknowledge that some peoples/religions/organizations take on creationism is debunked by science extremely clearly. To me, that just means their idea of creation is flawed (too literal etc.), not that it is impossible. Also, science has not yet settled the question beyond a reasonable doubt. IMO there is plenty of room to believe substantially all of the science that exists and can be proven and to also believe an all powerful creator was the architect. The real problem is, there is no way to prove or disprove God with science, and it is futile and foolish to try to disprove science using faith, beliefs, and 2000 year old books. Edit- I probably need to specify that I did not watch the debate and have no idea what Ham's position in this deal is/was. My comments were general in nature and only generally related to the discussion at hand. I'm pretty sure I do not and would not agree with any "young earth" type of argument or with a literal interpretation of Genesis.
  16. But February made me shiver.

No, really, it's making me shiver. I couldn't take one more step.

  17. That looks like one of those "mind the gap" shots ya see on the Chive.
  18. Finally, an Olympics with some entertaining side stories. Looks to be an interesting 2 weeks.
  19. I've been as unhappy with our special teams (punt return) play as anyone but it is a little shortsighted to blame the decision to not try to block kicks or muffing catches on the unit coach. It has to be 100% Bo for the strategy/philosophy on ST and players have to catch the ball. Els surely isn't coaching them to muff it. Not saying he is totally blameless but there is lots of the equation he is not solely responsible for.
  20. Jeez, I stay away from the P&R forum for a few months and when I return I agree with knapp and carl. #whatsgoingon Anyway, my two cents- the idea that sinners can't be Christian............probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
  21. I picture Phil Hartman in the SNL Chris Farley skit (in a van, down by the river) making the "quotations" gesture; we don't want to "come down" on you. The NCAA is beyond worthless. Comish and 95 Redux have their number.
