  1. I could give two sh#ts about Pelini voting his team #25. One token vote for one less than token season. meh, it doesn't say anything about Pelini other than he is either delusional enough to believe it or he was simply trying to throw a bone to his players. It's not like it matters in the least.
  2. I guess I agree with either type of loss hurting, neither is good for our image. It has been pretty unanimous on the 2nd question though. Of course beating good teams is the way to positively change our national perception. What precipitated this for me was the people who desired the easiest possible bowl opponent. I was having trouble understanding what possible good it would do to beat a nobody in a bowl this year. I guess the answer is some are more averse to losing big than they are receptive to having the chance at a big win. I can understand that if the premise is we are not good enough to actually get that big win. I am pretty much in that same boat myself, but I have surpassed the tipping point. I no longer care about the big losses, they seem to come from everywhere anymore. Since beating good teams is the only way to reverse the trend, I would just as soon keep playing good teams so we have the opportunity. Beating teams like Southern Miss and Purdue does nothing for me when we are losing games of substance.
  3. So, in your opinion it would be worse to lose to Oregon on national TV than it would be to lose to Minnesota or Iowa, regionally televised, but everyone still knows they beat us? Not saying that is right or wrong. Honestly just trying to get a read on people.
  4. My answers for both are option B. This is why I would rather play a team like Georgia or LSU than some other, easier to defeat team. IMO we have sunk as low on the irrelevance scale as I ever wanted to witness. I would much rather risk losing again, primetime on a national stage than not having the opportunity to start reversing our lot. I am numb to the embarrassing loses and believe the only way back is to start beating some better teams. I don't care if it takes twenty more losses to accomplish it. Beating a Washington State or KSU might make some fans feel better temporarily but I don't think it helps return us to relevance.
  5. I've been thinking about what tarnishes our image more and wanted to get some opinions. I realize that not competing in CCG's or for NC's contributes to national irrelevance but I would like to drill down more specifically to individual game outcomes. Question #1- What type of loss is the most damaging? A) A significant defeat at the hands of a higher rated and respected program. B) A loss to some middling unranked team. Question #2- What type of victory would do the most good helping us repair our image? A) A win, any win, even if it is some irrelevant middling team. B) A win over a ranked team from a power conference. I realize people will want to freelance and add their own stipulations, but please select from my options first.
  6. Happy Bday True. And the icing on the cake....Peyton can win in the cold. Superbowl bound baby.
  7. HB must be officially preparing for the off season. Even posters who are generally in agreement with each other are bickering. I have lost the ability to predict what type of response to expect from many. It's rather unsettling.

  8. Yea! We're number 1. About friggin ti..............oh............nevermind.
  9. I agree with everything you said man except LSU. I think LSU or Georgia is a good draw relative to KSU and Washington State. We are in agreement. I just think LSU would present too high of a hill to climb for this team at this time. But I still would've preferred LSU to some nobody that some people might view as an easier or must win opponent. I don't think there are any bowl eligible teams we can rationally think would be sure victories.
  10. IMO things could be much worse than facing Georgia in the Gator. I'm not extremely fond of the rematch but it will give us an opportunity for a quality win. Let's look at the possibilities- We get blown out- at least it would be at the hands of a respected sec team and not to some lesser opponent. We lose- See above. We win- We beat an sec team in sec country. Can't see a downside to that. Now consider those same scenarios with the opponent being KSU, Wash St., or LSU. The only difference I see would be, if we beat LSU it could be viewed as a much greater victory, but does anyone really think that would be a probable outcome? I, like some others, definitely would've preferred a matchup with Texass, but we didn't get it. If we want to begin repairing our national perception, Georgia would be a good starting point. And let's be honest, if we're going to lose, does it really matter?
  11. I'm about fed up with some posters wanting to avoid certain bowl matchups because we would probably lose. Many of these people have either argued that we're not mediocre or that they are fed up with people accepting mediocrity. Time to walk the talk some of you.

Sorry, didn't mean to ruin anyones day. My point was that we are fairly mediocre but I'm tired of needing to cater to that fact. If we get blown out, so be it. Maybe enough times will be the catalyst for a consensus for change. We can't play the sisters of the blind every week and keep thinking we're not mediocre. We've got as good of a chance against Georgia as we do anyone else.

  12. Opponent in order of preference; Texass Oklahoma Anybody else KSU I cannot imagine a less climactic game than one against the kitties.
  13. Playing KSU would be less exciting than that Washington rematch. Please anywhere vs anybody except KSU.
  14. I said no and 3 years or less. I'm not confident he'll be here that long. I would've said yes and within three years if the media would leave him alone, fans would stop leaving early when we're getting blown out, if we never had injuries, if the 2010's weren't so wildly different than the previous 40 year time span, and if message board posters were more supportive. But there will always be "explanations".
  15. I'll be pulling for tOSU because I think that would be best for the B1G. Plus I don't feel MSU is very good so being for them would be an exercise in futility. I will also be pulling for Mizzou. I still like to see Big 8 teams (sans CU) do well when it won't negatively impact us. And I hate to admit it but I like their unis this year. Beats the old calf sh#t mustard they wore back in the day. I expect this to be a barnburner of a game. Both teams are playing at a high level.

  17. Don't quote me on this but, I think if tOSU gets picked for the big game, that gives the Rose Bowl the option of replacing the B1G champ with anyone of their choosing. I don't think it would have to be another B1G team. I'm prolly full of sh#t.....
  18. I agree that Texas is less daunting than the others mentioned. But NU is still on the short end of the stick. I would hate another loss to Texas... that would be adding insult to the injury of the past 6 years for Husker fans. I understand this and have been likewise tempted but, I have made up my mind to not lower my standards of where I want to see this program exist simply to avoid additional embarrassment. The only way this program gains back any respect nationally, or even within our own division or conference, is to beat some worthwhile opponents. We can't beat them if we don't play them so...... There's been enough adding insult to injury for the past 15 years. A little more now isn't going to phase me in the least. I can come on HB, rant like a lunatic for a few days and eventually will calm down. I guess that'll just keep up until it doesn't have to anymore.
  19. What, some non-contributors are leaving or going off scholarship? We don't have 100% player retention? Just some preemptive in case this heads where I think it will.
  20. I haven't accepted mediocrity and I never will. That fact is usually what gets me crossways with some in the football forum. However, recently when matched against bowl eligible teams (anybody that can win 6 or more games in a season), we have not fared too well. But I still would like to play Texass for a chance to beat them. They are no more daunting than any other team we might face, and probably less so than many we could face.
  21. And we thought the blue hairs were our worst problem
  22. Would this fall under the "unrealistic expectations" that have been bandied about on this board? Even little old spoiled me can temper it down to only 45 minutes....considering we have not been treated to more than 30 minutes in any game all season.
