  1. True, I don't see Riley changing, but I am also not convinced that Riley can't get it done doing what he has been doing. I see his role in the few years he has left as rebuilding the brand, something that has been in decline for two decades now. At this point I still think he can do it. Admittedly, I might be feeling very differently a month from now.
  2. Yes, there is smoke there, but I guess am willing to give it more time. Steps were taken to reshape the defense into something better with players who were not recruited to the new system. The first near-loss this season was on the defense. The first loss was on the defense. The loss last weekend was not, it was absolutely on the offense which to this point had not been a huge concern. Was it a fluke or a trend? One game is not enough data to base that on. Rash judgments usually do not work out well.
  3. I am old enough to remember losing to Iowa State multiples times in the past under Osborne where we were highly rated and expected to cruise. I get the distinct feeling that many of you would have been calling for his head. This was week three. The defense appears to be improving (cautiously optimistic there). The o-line is very questionable and played an awful game against NIU. Lee appears to be a head-case at this point who is playing well below the ability he has shown in practice. If the o-line play last week proves to be an ongoing issue, it is time to get rid of Cav. No questions there. If Lee cannot get to a comfortable place in games, bench him. But do not make a rash judgement on the entire program. [minor edit]
  4. I am still happy we got rid of Pelini. So there's that.

me too.  That shoe never fit.

  5. Our O-line. SMH.

  6. It's crazy how our schedule is filled with all of these powerhouse teams.

  7. Thank God we have a good defense.

      This made me laugh. :thumbs

  8. I understand that is what we are doing. A better question seems to be: why? Let's say Hoppes, or whoever, was fast enough and good enough to be able to do this consistently, does it truly give the offense enough of an advantage to make up for the times when he can't get there? Are the benefits worth the risks?
  9. I've pretty much ignored the smoke with Bookie, but that column makes it pretty clear. I don't blame him for wanting to check out other programs and wanting to do what he thinks is in the best interest for himself and his future, but man I'll be bummed if he doesn't end up N.
  10. There are aspects to playing RB other than running ability. Blocking, catching the ball out of the backfield, etc. I assume the coaches know what they are doing.
  11. What I learned in week 2: 1. Bend but don't break doesn't work as well against talent. 2. Tanner Lee is not the second coming of Christ - he did not not have a good day decision-making-wise. My jets are sufficiently cooled. 3. Our WRs had a hard time getting separation against their DBs - didn't have much of a deep threat. YOLO balls don't work well against speed. 4. Our running game was ok, but Oregon is likely not a good run-D. 5. Our O-line seemed to wear down in the 4th. Oregon appeared to get stronger towards end of game. 6. Our pass rush is non-existent. 7. Despite having the wheels come off in the 2nd quarter, the team did not give up. The comeback was good to see, and the D deserves some credit for that. In the end and despite the trauma of the first half, we were in a position where we could have won the game.
  12. Jets sufficiently cooled.

  13. I learned: 1. Lee seems to be the real-deal at QB. Not perfect, but pretty damn good. Threw a few risky balls, though. 2. The O-line did a reasonably good job protecting the QB against a team who feels that D-line is their strong suit. Outside of a blown assignment resulting in a sack, Lee was usually able to get the ball off in time. 3. Our receivers showed flashes - was encouraging to see the young guys contribute, even if it was out of necessity. Hopefully Hoppes (TE) can keep it up. Aside: Was it just me or did Stanley Morgan get hurt towards the end? Seemed to be favoring his wrist or hand. 4. It was nice to see that the running game showed up. 5. Our D did a decent job against the run. 6. Our pass defense was extremely soft on the short game. We will be destroyed down the road if this is allowed to continue. 7. Our pass D wasn't challenged very much deep, but I assume that was just because the short game was working for AkS.
  14. I REFUSE TO COOL MY JETS.

  15. I seriously wonder if we need to start pulling (or denying) AM licenses for "hate radio" stations. We are inundated with them. KFAB would be a good place to start.

KFAB = Hate Radio... Really? How is it that an AM radio station (regardless of content) can get you so upset? Khaake - Go speak with your elders, it will help with your perspective outside of your bubble.

Tony - I honestly don't have a specific antidote, but incitement is commonplace. The thing that set me off is that one of their local talk DJs posted a diatribe on their facebook and webpage page Sunday blaming the victims for getting hit by that car. That sort of crap has been ongoing for decades on AM.

if you listen to KFAB you are fed right wing propaganda all day and hear the term libtard used many times each day. everything that is wrong with america can be blamed on barrack obama and trump has done nothing wrong and only trump can lead us to the promised land.

  17. That's always a mixed bag of sorts. It's awesome that he was able to do that against the 1s, but it does beg the question of how good are the 1s that a freshman QB was able to throw against them like he did.
  18. Shhh! Speak of this no more.
  19. Is there a spring practice schedule posted someplace?

Thanks TTRR - that was what I was after.

  20. It's interesting how many on that list never saw a lot of playing time as a Husker.
