  1. and 19 years since we beat a top 10 team on the road.
  2. If we blitz it exposes our weak secondary or the middle of the field short passes that seem to be wide open every single time.
  3. Oh absolutely agree. I think the players should probably turn them in themselves. Didn't a defender do that under Callahan once? I forget his name. This was bad. really really bad.
  4. Last year I was all over Riley. This year I've seen the improvements, and the crap that dude has had to deal with in 2 years at Nebraska and we are fortunate we have such a great guy and good coach at the helm. We simply are outmanned at the moment. Riley is getting his recruits to Nebraska and things will continue to improve. Bo's greatest years were with Callahan's highly ranked recruits. Bo's players he recruited are not the type of guys to beat Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, etc. Not to take anything away from those players or the improvements they have made, but the simple truth is we aren't better then some of these elite teams. Argue it all you want, but look at the track record over the last 9 years. Nebraska is getting better. Tonight sure as heck didn't show it, but tonight is just one night in a process of rebuilding. Whether we want to admit it or not, when Riley came in it was a rebuilding time, that has proven evident over the losses last year and this year with Wisconsin and Ohio State. We need to get the players in here, which we are, before we start really competing.
  5. We simply have a ways to go to be elite again. 7-2 in November '16 is better then what we were in November '15
  6. Just want to see some sort of fight and pride from the defense and offense in the second half.
  7. Doubt it. I don't see how they would have any reason to watch Purdue film.
  8. Oh man I think that is a tough decision. Burn the kids redshirt with only a quarter of the season left? And for his first start to be on the road down 21 at Ohio St. ? I say Fyfe or Darlington get the nod. Hope Armstrong is OK, but looks like his night is done. I'd say hope it is just a concussion but concussions are nothing to downplay.
  9. I think it is talent to be honest. We really don't have a QB who is reliable in a quarterbacks most skillset which is passing. Our offensive line is just soft.
  10. As far as people blaming this on the coaches. Lets rear back for a bit. So far 7-1 with probability of going 7-2, but great improvements so far from last year and we have a good recruiting class coming in. I still think Nebraska escapes the season with 10 - 11 wins.
  11. Also lets just not have a primetime slot game for at least 3 years please.
  12. We aren't 7-1 without Tommy Armstrong. He had some incredible games early on this year, but his glaring issue of passing is still a major problem and is completely unreliable. Although again, I can't stress what a warrior the guy is, but it will be refreshing to have a true style QB at Nebraska next year.
  13. Well we got a ways to go before we are elite again. Lets go back to around ranked 20th and quietly win the rest of our games and prepare for next year.
  14. Great spot. Nebraska still controls their own destiny. Right now the biggest reachable goal of a CFP playoff and national title is still technically there.
  15. I don't agree with this spread at all because I think Nebraska wins this game.
  16. I pretty much agree with these two. As long as the wheels don't come off now and we go on some sort of losing streak.
  17. If it was an act, great act and attempt to get the call for Westerkamp. That is a mature smart football player to try and get the call.
  18. Is it just me or does the Wisconsin fan base, the ones who attend the game, seem to just go there and party like none other and don't really care about the game? Just seems like a ruckus crowd no matter what is going on, and win or lose, the Badger fans don't seem to care.
  19. I too am sick of losing to Wisconsin. Wisconsin is an odd program. Seemingly no matter who their coach is they will win 9-10 games a year. They are built with an enormous lineman on both sides of the ball, and they are overall built in a way that makes them really good, but not great. Wisconsin chugs along the same way they have for the past 20 years, they will continue to get the results they have had the last 20 years. But we have to beat them to overcome them. However, do you build like them? Knowing the results may get you past Wisconsin but then stuck in what Wisconsin is stuck in with the good but not great? I would have liked to have seen a more spread attack vs the Badgers last night as I think that is how you beat them, by spreading them out, instead of trying to go at them muscle for muscle. But if we go for the spread option spead built tye team, we may beat Wisconsin, but wont win the B1G Ten because that style of play won't last and be succesful in the conference for long. With all this said, after last nights game, in the long run Nebraska's future looks much brighter then Wisconsin's because well, Wisconsin has been stuck being Wisconsin for 20 years.
  20. So beat Ohio State and suddenly you have talks of Nebraska eyeing a playoff spot.
  21. My thoughts are with this loss we beat Ohio State. How close this game was and how many missed chances we had i think the players come out vs Ohio State with a chip on their shoulders and get a big win. I'd like to think that had we beaten Wisconsin, we get tripped up at Ohio State the next game. We beat Ohio State and we still control our own destiny.
  22. This. In fact I had flashbacks to Pelini type teams when we went down 17-7. I thought for sure we were dead in the water, then this team roared back and had ample opportunities to win the game and unfortunately did not win the game. But at least it was a close hard fought battle on the road in a venue and against a team we have had a hard time competing against since joining the conference.
  23. As we get closer and closer to kickoff I get more excited for this game. This game is enormous. Although I want Nebraska to win out, a win tonight, it makes it ok for Nebraska to lose to Ohio State, and they would still have inside track to winning the division. A 1 loss Nebraska B1G champ gets into the CFP. Also IMO, Nebraska actually has a better shot at beating ohio state then Wisconsin. For whatever reason the Badgers just seem to give us fits. A win here provides enormous momentum and confidence for this team going into the Buckeye game. This has the feel of a classic Nebraska football game. GBR!
  24. As far as Riley has left in the tank. I thought when we hired him it was a 4-5 year stretch. However, I think with winning comes youth to a coach, and Riley has also surrounded himself with assistant coaches he trusts and who are younger then him. I think Riley, if this thing stays successful could push 7-10 years. Retiring in his 70s.
