  1. I hope he is throwing these health concerns out there to make Oregon think we may be down some major players. We need everyone to be as healthy as possible in this game and we need everyone to contribute in big ways. Please please please heal!!
  2. Wonder if Riley has a decent relationship with D'Antoinio to have spoken to him to get his insight on the Ducks.
  3. if Virginia can bend them I think we can break them. They are still high powered in the offensive skill positions. Should make for an interesting match up! Agree with the above poster, the battle in the trenches when the skers are defending will be a way to either take control of the game or get mauled in the run game big matchup there. The game was more like 44-20 rather then the 26. I get this only from the box score as I did not see the ending of the game due to how late it was, but I would imagine Virginia scored in garbage time, and I am sure most of those yardage stats are skewed as Oregon probably had their backups in early in the second half. One thing was certain, early on in that game Virginia was able to run the ball with huge holes. Hopefully Newby and Ozigbo have big days. Another way to stop Oregon is to keep their offense off the field, so just run on them all day if you are able to.
  4. We are 2-0 and that is the most important stat of the season so far. Already an improvement over last season.
  5. A huge story in this game is Oregon's extremely young Offensive Line. Nebraska's defensive line needs to win the battle in the trenches and get pressure into the backfield. Oregon's weakness is when they lose the line battle and teams are able to get into the backfield quickly.
  6. I would sure hope so. Riley not only faced Oregon every year in the same conference and got to see this style of play for 7 straight years, he was in the same state as Oregon. I hope Riley knows that kicking field goals or being stuck around the Ducks 40 yard line and punting on 4th and short is not how you beat the Ducks. You have to score touchdowns and you have to capatilize off of every single drive. You can be up by 21-28 points on these guys and they can roar right back into the game and blow you out. Royce Freeman is a monster of a RB, and they have two other speedster backs to compliment him. They also have maybe the most talented WR core in the PAC-12. Their QB looks like he is capable of keeping plays alive with his feet and he seems to have an arm. What is decieving about Oregon's defense is they will give up plenty of yards but they dont give up an overload of points. They are a classic example of a bend but dont break defense. So anytime Nebraska is able to make Oregons defense bend and get into the redzone, they must score touchdowns. I am very uncertain about this game. But I sure hope Riley has figured out the Ducks after all these years since he now finally has the depth and talent, or at least more depth and talent then he had at Oregon State. The interesting thing here is, Oregon hasn't changed their offense in 9 years, and Riley has been running the same thing he did at Oregon State. So both these coaching staffs should be very familiar with each others game plans.
  7. I think it is due to the fact Tommy is a Senior, a 3rd year starting QB and that one mistake in the redzone was flashbacks to what has always seemed to be a problem with him and his decision making. I think most of us would hope after 3 years of being a starting QB at the D-1 level at Nebraska those type of mental mistakes would be gone by now. It just makes it hard to trust him in big time situations. He is what he is. Yes, he needs to cut down those mistakes, but it was only 1 huge mistake. He more than made up for it with his play the rest of the game. Against Oregon one huge mistake can and will cost you the game. If you get into the redzone vs Oregon you need to score a TD. FGs and turnovers does not beat the Ducks. And my God almighty, Riley should know this since he faced Oregon and saw that machine from 45 miles away for years. Just hope the players realize it and can comprehend it.
  8. Wyoming was selling out to stop the run, leaving passing lanes wide open for the most part. NU did a good job of making them pay in the passing game. There were times when Tommy got "cold" in the 3rd quarter where I thought NU could have ran more, but Wyoming was taking that facet of the offense out of the game. Good point. I am excited for the game next week, but nervous because I really don't know what team we have here. Also, not really sure what type of team Oregon has either. The Ducks are going to be running cute schemes with smoke and mirrors, and the team needs to understand that IF they get ahead, no matter the deficit, Oregon can come roaring back quickly.

  10. -The defense is good. The run defense will be tested greatly next week. -Armstrong is athletic, but still makes decisions that leave you scratching your head. -Offensive Line still needs to get stronger. -WRs are good -2-0 is the best we can be at this point in the season. Lets make it 3-0 next week.
  11. I would have prefered more of a running game. The numbers of total run plays are skewed due to the run plays to run out the game. But I would have liked to see the offensive line wear down Wyomings defensive line and have had a very good running performance. I just thought there were too many passing plays. But a win is a win, and considering what we went through last year, 2-0 is a great start. The defense looks very solid. Will need to do much better next week to get a win. GBR!
  12. Start either one, play them about same amount of time. Both good RBs.
  13. This is HUGE. Absolutely HUGE! Not only do we get him, who I think will be a 5 star by the time he gets onto campus, we have another 4 star WR commit. Also Keyshawn can help get some of his California teammates to come to Nebraska. My only concern is, since he committed so early, any chance he decommits once season starts like so many other top talented players sometimes do? I cant imagine USC, UCLA and the other west coast teams are going to let Keyshawn easily go.
  14. I was young during this great era, so to me at the time I remember these players all walking on water. I didn't know back stories, I didn't know off the field drama at the time, all I knew at the time was Nebraska football was world beaters, and good old fashion country living. So if they do show some of the other stuff, it will be interesting to me. I think a Lawrence Phillips 30 for 30 would be a little more entertaining though.
  15. Great hire! Excited about this one. Has experience and Husker ties, you can't argue with that one.
  16. At this point I am not even hearing any new rumors, or any specific interviews, nothing. It is eerily silent on the DL coach front.
  17. When in the world will they get a coach?? Seems like it has been forever, but I guess they have a month or two before they really need one.
  18. Everyone is saying 2 That Beau kid and who else? Think we need a WR now...Although if we lack any major WR this class, that must look appealing to Keyshawn Jr and crew for 2017.
  19. What a great late surge by this class! Shaping up to be a good one. How many more schollies do we have left? And who is suppose to sign tomorrow?
  20. Got to hand it to Riley and Co. After a slow start to both the season and recruiting, they most certainly have finished strong to give us something to look forward to next year and the years following. The 2017 class could be even be better than this years class! GBR!
