  1. IF we don't make a bowl this year, and even if we win 6-7 games next year, i'd be fine with moving on. Honestly, I don't see the issue with just accepting the bad decision and moving on now because we all know we will be moving on in a year or two from now and will just have to begin the rebuilding process AGAIN. So why not accept the mistake, admit this as a lost season and start rebuilding now. SE can simply come out and say, "Look folks, I made a mistake, I apologize, but I am not going to allow Nebraska football to be Purdue" It's like any scandal, you always look so much better in the media if you just come out and admit it first rather then deny deny deny. I'd have so much more respect for the guy if he did come out and admit his mistake and take action, rather then trying to hide this awful wart for 2-3 years and the agree it was a mistake. The longer we have this, the deeper we dig our hole. I believe Southern Miss did this a couple years ago with the coach that led them to 0-12. Only thing we can pray for is that USC makes Riley an offer he can't refuse and he takes it. What has happened here has been an absolute train wreck so far. USC is NOT going to offer Riley. Who in their right mind would hire Riley after the debacle he's created here, and they way he was on the verge of getting run out of Oregon State....USC offered Riley a HC job almost 20 years ago, they realize Riley is now approaching mid 60s and well past his prime. Plus his overall coaching record is 2 games below .500.....................And if Southern Miss did this, I have already forgotten they did such a thing. Also, I can't think of any other job where you can consistently under perform for 8 weeks and not get talked to or get the risk of losing your job. Man, if I went to work for 8 straight weeks of just under performing I am sure I would have been talked to several times by management, and probably would have never seen week 8.
  2. Interesting question as these guys are literally complete polar opposites, from their personalities to on field perfomances. Nice guy vs not so nice guy. 9 wins vs 9 losses.

  4. Thats actually probably a good thing for me. I'll be focused about landing my first teaching gig next fall and hopefully running my own football and/or wrestling programs somewhere around the state. Yep, Nebraska football will be here in four years. By then, hopefully we are in better hands.
  5. Front runner fans? I disagree, front runner fans would not flood message boards and online articles expressing their frustrations. They would have just vanished. I find it the complete opposite. Nebraska football means so much to the Cornhusker fans it is apart of our lives. So naturally, when Nebraska football is playing poorly, or we clearly get handed rotten apples, we are going to complain because it affects us.
  6. Can we just accept the fact we got screwed here and just accept the next four years under Riley? Keep hope that in 4 years we make a better decision. Life is so much less stressful when you dont care about football on Saturdays. Enjoy the next four year vacation from the sport.
  7. 1. Everyone is right, Riley isn't going to get fired. Due to the messed up contracts the school is already stuck paying. Our only hope is Riley is such a nice guy he realizes he is in over his head here, doesnt want to continue being scrutinized and decides to "retire" from Nebraska. 2. I'll take Riley over Bielema. Bielema is a giant ass. He also has zero loyalty if he suddenly came to Nebraska from Arkansas, as he ditched on Wisconsin, who gave him a shot, and that means he would have bolted on Arkansas, so i would not trust him. 3. IF Auburn becomes available, we hire Gus Malzahn.
  8. We most certainely have kept things close, but some of those close games have come to bad teams that we should have won. Illinois and Northwestern are the two I am thinking of. I could understand the BYU, Miami, and Wisconsin, just because we cant beat Wisconsin no matter what type of team they have.
  9. What is the local feelings about Riley and co? What is the local media covering? Are they asking any hard questions for Riley or is everything soft balls? Nebraska could very well go 4-9...If this happens even in Callahans first year things would be outrageous....For some reason since it is Riley, it seems everyone is calm and saying it'll all be OK.
  10. Tressel would be good. But i dont see us hiring him with his baggage.
  11. Sadly, this is very possible. A 3 win season with 9 losses? FDR may have been the President the last time that happened? Or maybe we never lost 9? And if it happens, so what? No one seems to give a dang if this team wins 9 games or loses 9 games. Riley's seat is as comfortable as ever. Let him have 7 years and retire into the sunset at age 72.
  12. No, I could see this happening. It is a very nice thing to do.
  13. Yeah and they put up a fight last week too. They, unlike us, are improving each week. a 4 win season very well could be in the future here. How awful.
  14. No bowl this year. Coincidentally the last time that happened was Callahan's last year.
  15. I love the AD who preaches class when he publically states he doesn't want the program to become Iowa....Then Iowa goes on an undefeated season.
  16. You don't see us as a rival because we are new, and you guys beat us everytime. Until we start beating you, you guys probably don't recognize us much.
  17. Yeah I agree Wisconsin is one of our best rivals in a long time.... but we don't seem to ever beat them.
  18. The issue with the B1G is, the West was extremely weak this year, we had a decent amount of talent and are going to finish last or second to last place in the West..... We have to try and enter ourselves into recruiting grounds that belong to Ohio State and Michigan. Urban Meyer and Ohio State are not going to lose the strong hold on this conference.
  19. The bolded are rumored to be on the Game c$%ks wish list. All of the above are good choices. I'd add Venables (sp?) from Clemson as well. Their D has been solid the past few years. Is very quick. Has ties to the south and midwest. And just blanked Miami today.....58-0. Hell for that matter, throw millions at Dabo. Dabo would be nice... Veneables not so sure about. Wasn't he basically run out of Oklahoma?
  20. This is Ohio State and Michigan's conference. At least in the Big 12 our name was mentioned with the likes of Oklahoma and Texas.
  21. Oh, we lose to Iowa State this year. However, we do beat Kansas.
  22. For a guy who has been coaching for 40+ years, his network should be very large. I am sure Riley knows plenty of qualified coaches. He chose to bring a Defensive Coordinator who had not been performing well for years.
  23. With how good the other Texas' schools are becoming, I could see the state of Texas just reforming the SWC again. Texas Baylor Texas Tech TCU Houston Texas AM - surprised to leave SEC? Why not? You wont ever win that division with LSU and Alabama present. And the move to SEC has greatly improved your image and brand, come back to SWC and dominate. Meanwhile, Nebraska and Oklahoma can work on getting the band back together.
