  1. Serious question. Not being a smart ass. Why do they deserve a bowl game? Because they've been here 4 years? Because why? I hate to be hard on them but they haven't earned and don't deserve anything. A lot of that is on the coaches but a lot of it is on unmotivated play of the players. Sorry but I don't want to see this edition of the Huskers on the field again. We need to concentrate on getting a better version on the field next year. Much better. So many people on HB laughed and scoffed when, in seasons past, a 5-7 team made it to a bowl game. Some were pissed. Now that WE are the 5-7 team, it's a great idea to go to a bowl game. My vote is no. We didn't earn it. It's earned if you are chosen to go. I don't know what other parameters you need, and you should remember this isn't 1975 anymore . . . there are many bowl games and many opportunities these days, because college football fans love bowl games.
  2. I'll say it again . . . if it would have been completed for a TD, it would be called a "genius" play call. This is part of football; get used to it.
  3. I'll keep my fingers crossed. This year's NU team is interesting, to say the very least!
  4. Absolutely yes! If you are such a pouty baby that you don't want to watch anymore, the NBA season is in full swing.
  5. If that pass would have been completed for a TD, it would have been a genius call. The player was covered . . . Armstrong should not have thrown it on a 4th and 1. He need to progress to the next receiver. I confess I was mystified by Armstrong's performance today.you were mystified? This is what we have gotten from him all year and it was windy You're probably right, but usually he gets in two or three good passes. I don't know that he managed one tonight.
  6. This team, unlike the Pelini team of last year, improved during the year and exhibited class on and off the field. So let's move on to a new topic. I do NOT see how anyone can be bitter by Pelini's firing. He should not be head coach anywhere.

  8. It was a good game. NU looked good, but was undone by penalties and a curiously bad game by Armstrong. Nevertheless, they held their own against the #3 team in the country . . . and it says a lot about this team when many expected NU--despite it's W/L record--to beat the undefeated Hawkeyes. I'm hoping the Huskers get a bowl appearance.
  9. I've learned this about this board today: Trash talking the current NU coaching staff is acceptable, but do NOT say bad things about Pellini. Your posts will be banished . . .
  10. Have you seen the video on Pelini's most recent outburst on the sidelines of the North Dakota State game? I'm Unhappy There's some really bad karma happening up there. Do you think he will retain his job after the end of the season? I watched the post-game press conference and the man has some clear issues. His facial expressions showed that he was barely under control, even long after the game was over.
  11. You think the coaches actually listen to what the fan base wants in regards to, well, anything? LOL!! Well, no I don't but they changed their approach for some reason and for whatever that was, I hope they keep it changed. I think what you're seeing is that the players are becoming more comfortable with the systems. I'm fairly certain the coaches remain consistent in their philosophies. It's almost like you're saying they've been in their careers for quite awhile and feel like you have an idea of what their doing. I feel like this is an unacceptable answer. Crazy, I know.

  13. This. Osborn was coach for decades, and many in-state high schools emulated his teams. We haven't had that kind of consistency for many, many years.
  14. I'd really like to have a Vince Ferragamo type guy in this style of offense. He was a great one, IMHO. Most of you may not remember him, though . . .
  15. SMH. Are you a troll? What is with so many people saying the players were not "bought in" to Mike Riley before now? Proof? I agree it seemed like a different team, but that's probably because it seemed like a different game plan. The players continue to learn the new system and gain experience. I think that's what we are seeing.
  16. Credibility -----Window ------> Let me qualify that. I should have said, "talent deficiencies relative to the needs of this system." Armstrong is great option QB, and I'm betting he is the best running back on the team. Most of our more experienced receivers seem to be better at blocking down field . . . we have a couple of promising frosh, though. These are all great athletes, but they don't necessarily excel in this system. It's left to be seen if they can make the transition. I do have to say I'm impressed by their character in the face of some rather pointed criticism, and much divisive talk.
  17. I understand that Imani is a terrific person as well. Good for him.
  18. Hopefully it won't be these specific coaches working on improvements during the off-season. Look--this win is awesome for the kids, and I'm happy for them. But it just raises the question of why this wasn't the same team we saw against Illinois, Purdue, Wisky, etc. This win, in the grand scheme of things, is nothing more than a kick in the balls to Nebraska fans that aren't sunshine pumping 24/7. Here's hoping that if Riley stays, we get better coordinators and position coaches. Although they lost their share this year, they were NEVER blown out like you've seen in previous years. Every game NU lost this year, they were in it. They were in it to the end. This tells me a LOT. I have a load of respect for this coaching staff. They had a nearly impossible task to accomplish after the cesspool of Pellini and his staff. GBR!!! Didn't watch the Purdue game huh. They were down 42-16 in the fourth and scored garbage time TDs to make it look closer. They were never in that game What was the final score? I think those teams that beat NU this year also did it with "garbage" points!

  20. He was forced out of bounds, anyway. It was an excellent call!
