  1. That is if he makes a roster. Here is what the end of a 1st round guy makes in a four year contract $6,767,002 with a signing bonus of $3,301,456 Here's a four year contract for someone selected in the 5th round $2,300,000 with a signing bonus of $140,000 Lets say he'd sneak up to the 15th pick in draft a four year contract of $9,424,712 with a signing bonus of $5,234,336 I'm all for what's doing best for these players but look at what Suh did for himself by staying another year. Not saying these guys are Suh but even to sneak into the first round would be loads more money than being taken in the 4-5th rounds. Now for all of the "what happens if he comes back next year and gets hurts" people. So even if he gets an invite to the combine which he might not, lets say his workout will be at NU's Pro day and by some freak accident he tears his ACL. What would that do for his draft prospects?
  2. And so because of one good game he will go higher? http://www.1620thezone.com/SharpandBenningPodcastPage.aspx Jan 11 Seg 5 start listening at the 14 min mark. It's a pretty good listen
  3. So, you've never left a job for a better opportunity elsewhere? I don't see how VV is being selfish, and what is wrong with leaving to the NFL to make money? People go to college in order to get a degree and make more money in the real world. VV has his degree and he is hoping to earn a lot of money in the NFL. I see nothing wrong with his decision. I'm sure you felt the same way about Petteway and Pitchford leaving early as well I actually didn't care about Petteway and Pitchford leaving. If a guy has his college degree and doesn't see what he can gain from spending another year in college, I don't see any reason for him to come back. Petteway wasn't going to turn himself into an NBA star overnight. Now, he is in the NBADL, playing 3-4 nights a week, and practicing every day with NBA-style coaches. I'm not sure what Pitchford is doing, but he was never going to make it in the NBA. I'm sure he's playing in Europe or Asia and make decent money. I just don't get the idea of staying with your college team, just because you have eligibility left. As it stands right now the ceiling for VV is 3-4th round. With more likely of a possibility of a 5th-6th. There was a call into Sharp and Benning about VV and his work ethic and the attitude. There's a difference between coming out early to be a 1st-2nd round draft pick and a 5th-6th pick
  4. Yet somehow after all these "issues" you point out with Pelini.......he managed to win 70% of his games while Riley remains a .500 coach. I realize it's the "in thing" to bash Pelini, but it would help the cause if Riley would start winning. He won the games he was supposed to win (Riley certainly didn't I'll give you that), but he often got blown out in the others. 14' versus 15' isn't a slam dunk game, which is why I'd take the 15' team. Almost every evenly matched game was a loss for Pelini. At least Riley has been able to step up and win some games against quality opponents. 2009 Iowa State, 2010 Texas, 2011 Northwestern, 2012 UCLA, 2013 Minnesota, 2013 Iowa, and 2014 Minnesota say hello. Losing to Virginia Tech two seasons in a row felt wrong, too, but I won't go so far as to claim that was a game the Corn were "supposed to win." I could see an argument for UCLA but that was Mora's first season. Bingo

  6. Assuming he is a WCO guy (learned under Cally and Sherman), so he would never be welcome here by a large chunk of our fan base. Ding ding ding...we have a winner. It's also not his fault either. It's more of sour taste in fans' mouth from the Callahan and Riley eras.A bad taste from the Riley era? We know this already after only one year? We could win the NC and he would still find something to complain about.
  7. Riley couldn’t outcoach an interim Illinois coach or Darrell Hazell. Our run D last year wasn’t as bad as our current passing D. 2014 wins. Who did this guy ever outcoach?
  8. The only problem with that is Alabama can have any kid in the country they want at DB
  9. With Ameer it's a close game that 2014 edges out. Without Ameer 2015 wins by 14
  10. IMO the front 7 were under-appreciated this year and won't be as good next year with the loss of Collins (and possibly Valentine). Freedom played well, but nobody looks good after him and McMullen. Going to be another dicey year at DE. We bring back all of our LBs with another year of experience and a healthy Rose-Ivey will help Have heard great things about Alex Davis on the scout team and while Collins was a very good player DT is a position of strength
  11. Convenient for you to support one of the previous staff but yet can't find a way to support the current staff
  12. Don't really care either way.....Loved watching Iowa get destroyed
  13. Why does anyone where a mouth guard in basketball? It's a non contact sport You ever taken an elbow to the jaw?
  14. Maybe he can bring Nick Saban along as DC and Scott Frost as OC! OMG
  15. When people complained about throwing the ball so much I think people forgot what our strongest position on offense was
  16. Most likely because we don't have to worry about him leaving. Everyone freaks out about Iowa taking Fant when in fact we are stealing Iowa's top player who happens to be a Top 100 recruit
  17. I don't think too many guys at 18-22 are going to be a version of 38 year old Peyton Manning camping out in the pocket. Even Blaine Gabbert was mobile. They're 18-20 years old, they aren't statues. They can all scramble, and it's a lot easier to do so when the D has to respect your arm. Blaine Gabbert mobile? Sorta I guess, in the same way a Mack truck is mobile....heh Gabbert was actually a pretty good athlete
  18. Honestly, I'm ok with either one of those ratios as long as we're winning. Give it some time and I think some of those 7 losses become wins sooner rather than later.I should hope Purdue isn't ever a loss again. But that said, will people be content with 3 to 4 losses a season? All of the BOlievers were apparently content with it. Had a conversation with one of the relatives tonight who still wishes we had Bo. I asked him why, and the response was well the team never gave up on him. My response was the big ten title game vs Wisky or last year vs Wisky. He merely said that it wasn't bad coaching that it was just superior players. Once again I asked how could a walk on from GI be the back up QB for this team. His response well that's not the coaches fault. I find myself having conversations with people like this more often then I'd like to. Not sure if they will ever get it. Did he ask you about the 4 backup QBs + 1 starter on UNLs National Championship teams? 1970 - Van Brownson: Shenandoah, Ia. 1971 - Steve Runty: Ogallala, Nebraska 1994 - Matt Turman: Wahoo, Nebraska 1995 - Brook Berringer: Goodland KS 1997 - Scott Frost(STARTER): Wood River, Nebraska But I suppose you're not a Devaney or Osborne supporter either. Not always where you're from, it's how you party when you get there. How many of those guys threw 4 INTs in a game? To compare Ryker with those last two guys is pretty laughable. Love the story but I doubt he'd be starting for many D-1 schools Nor is he at Nebraska. Where are you trying to go with this? That the lack of depth we have at some positions is just maddening
