  1. Mitchell was a douche. When he did that his coaches reminded him that maybe he needed to concentrate on his own effort before calling out a teammate.
  2. There is talk that Williams is ready to walk away. He'll have his Master's in May and is sick of being injured/hurt all the time. I'm fairly sure he's gone. I was told we were losing 4 D-line guys. So with Collins and VV and the likely hood of Williams that would be 3. Unless they were county Barry as a being on the Dline as a Rush End, that would be 3 of the 4. If they had MB on line then that's all 4 likely to leave. I was told Bush on the offense, 1 RB and 2-4 o-line looking a possibly leaving. Not sure on names on O line. Wait, hadn't heard that Barry was leaving. Where's he going? I thought the coaches were pretty high on him Rumor is he's upset he was promised playing time this year. He had his issues then ended up with the 2s but wasn't happy they don't get to see much practice time to improve his status. He had some tweets about moving on a week or so back. I'm not sure if he got settled down or not. But more or less sounds like he was frustrated he was the man in high school and was told he'd be the man then kind of got frustrated when people were better than him. This is silly. He got hurt in fall camp and missed a big portion (or all) of the year, right? I saw him in a sling on the sidelines when I was standing behind the bench during warmups at the Wisconsin game. Silly or not that's whats being said. So far the info has been right with Collins and VV. We will see on Bush and Barry pretty soon. I hope the guy is talking out his a##.
  3. To me is sounds more like they are trying to prep the fans that if we decided to start POB then don't expect us to win a bunch of games while he figure out things his first year. If they think the skills are even 70% near what TA's are I'd guess we'll see POB in games as a back up early and have a good chance to see him as a starter by B10 play so we can develop for the 2017 season which will be the year the MR is on the chopping block. It think last year and this coming year were designed to be throw away years based on the things that our AD has said to Boosters. He's told them all year that the team was doing bad because they were too heavily influenced by the last staff and that next year could be much worse because the plan is to have a freshman QB to develop so MR can install his system. I hope we give the POB kid a year and TA can improve and we crank out a 8+ win season. I think that would help settle the fan base down some. And honestly I think next year as much hinges on if Ben McAdoo gets the job as the Giants head coach. If that happens there is a higher than likely chance Danny L goes back as the OC for them which sets back the offense some or at least stalls is.

  5. What he has going of him is the ability to play the nose. And the NFL usually takes chances on D-line guys with the right size and body types even if they are unproven. So he actually has a chance to move up rather than done if he can show well at the combine. He should get that invite.

  7. I'm not sure what he's like as a QB. Everything the coaches said last spring pretty much had him as becoming the starter in fall because the other QBs couldn't handle the offense. Then he had a ho-hum spring game and his reps were cut to nothing. Hard to get better in practice when the coaches won't let you run the offense. He had a habit of moving in high school so it doesn't surprise me. But I hate to see a good kid who from all accounts is a good teammate leave. I think sometimes these kids to to remember its also about getting an education. Of course. . .nothing has been official yet. I'm sure with school starting here shortly we'll know how many kids might be leaving.
  8. It sure is refreshing to not have to worry about other teams trying to steal our coaches in the off season.

Were teams trying to steal Bo? Someone should mention that he's available now. And was for the last year.

      I think he means Miles

Oh. My mistake. Probly because I still think Miles is a good coach. Just needs to find some synergy on his roster somehow.

  9. NFL folks are pretty dumb when it comes to hiring coaches. This makes lots of sense. Not sure who a person picks up as a coach this late in the game unless you throw lots of money at someone.
  10. tweeted this Aj Bush ‏@ajbush23 Jan 4 Things change ,people change situations change, Then told by someone in Omaha sports media he's transferring.
  11. I am not sure I believe in these mythical lists? If they do exist, I think ADs put a list of possible candidates together quickly, and only after a certain amount of time has been given to the coach. Factors such as high level of grumblings from booster and fans would also drive it. The coach carousel spins so quickly any more that it would be impossible to have any list that would not be outdated fairly quickly. Could you imagine...finding the "list" and posting it? God, that would be cray-cray Supposedly last year before SE fired Bo he was showing his list of coaches at a booster function. Not sure who was on it. My guess is MR wasn't.
  12. A former co-work has coffee at one of the gas stations in Lincoln and Frost's dad also goes there. When Bo was fired he stated Scott talked to several people and after decided he would stay away until HP and SE are no longer in the picture. scotts dad drives 30 miles for his morning coffee? must be a mean cup of coffee The Casey's on Hwy 34 out by Kawasaki if you want to be exact. Its where lots of the Malcom and Raymond guys go.

  14. My guess is he ends up in the NFL at someplace like Dallas. Or he does the TV gig for a year and goes back to the west coast to some place like UCLA (when Mora leaves).
  15. That tweet was cool but don't forget that group was also lobbying hard for USC brass to keep Helton as head coach and they did.
  16. I think VV is deciding on if he goes NFL or transfers and plays a final season somewhere else, most likely the SEC.
  17. Our SP coach is the biggest waist of money on the staff. I realize he didn't have our best punt returner much of this year but the coverage he installed stunk. He doesn't recruit much, if at all and i'm not sure I agree you spend a scholarship on a punter when Nebraska has a history of putting some of the best punters in the NFL. That is unless you have zero on the roster. I know he and Cav and Banker were the coaches the AD at OSU wanted off the staff and that's part of why MR suddenly started to listen to offers.
  18. I can think of 6 it would probably make sense for if PT is their goal. I'm not one thats ever really for a kid transferring in most cases. You signed up to be a part of the team. Its 4-5 years of life and hopefully you rise to the top. But that's not really reality. People need to learn how to fit into roles in life. That applies to sports teams, jobs, school, etc. Not everyone is going to be the #1 person. But it takes everyone to go in the right direction. You can be just as happy and just as successful learning to be part of a team or being a role player than the star QB. You also need to learn that things happen and change such as coaches coming and going, bosses leaving, etc. and you need to be able to adapt to those things. I'm not sure your analogy works. In the real world you are free to change jobs and find the best opportunity for you. You aren't stuck with the company that gives you your first job. If I get the chance to be the CEO at another company, I'm not going to pass it up to be a role player for my current company. But this doesn't even really describe a student athlete's experience. I would expect that just about all high school recruits going to a power conference school have aspirations of playing in the NFL. Their 4-5 years are an interview and resume builder for these kids. If you don't get to show off your abilities, why not move on to a better opportunity. If you love your school and are happy being a role player, then great. But these kids are on the team to actually play, not be a role player. If your goal isn't to be the top guy, then it's probably not someone we would want on our team anyway. Most CEO's work under a contract. I was contracted 2 or 3 years at a time and either had to complete the term unless both parties agreed to terminate the contract. But yes I understand the typical employee and employer agreement people can move on. In most cases those people still stick on average of 5 to 7 years at a job.

  20. I think they expect 7 or 8 transfers and mostly on defense from the rumors flying around.
  21. A few of our losses are because of clock management. When you've been in the game as long as Riley, you don't learn it in an off season if you haven't by now. In his defense he hasn't been in very many close games in his career. Usually he knows he's losing by the middle of the 3rd quarter.
  22. Because the players on the Dline don't really seem to like their coach or have any confidence in him.
  23. A lot of guys on 247 are trying to help a coaching staff out by making anyone who doesn't come here seem like not a very big loss.
