  1. So true. It would suck not to play in these games. This is what it's all about for everybody
  2. First off. All of OUR goals are still on the table too. 2nd. Wisconsin doesnt exactly Texas Tech their way up and down the field either. Provide me reasonable arguement that guarantees Wisconsin scored 20 points in this game, then reasonable arguement that *guarantees* we dont. Exactly! We could easily lose this game and Wisconsin is a talented team, but if you sincerely believe there is no logical reason Nebraska can win this game I'm not sure why you are a husker Fan to begin with
  3. I have a logical reason to believe "Defense" ours is pretty good, their offense isnt great. A close low scoring game is a game we can win even if our offense isn't performing very well right now.
  4. if we can put up a similar performance against Wisconsin, we hold them to 14 and I like our chances there
  5. people don't want to admit it but we match up pretty dang well in this game. I think we do match up well. The issue is we have yet to show that we can really put together a full game. Or a full half. This is true but I just like our defense in this game and I think they can keep us in it long enough to have a great stretch and "take control" I put that in quotes because I don't think at any point will either team be in true control but if we are up 4 with 5 minutes left I see us playing in a dominant fashion, shutting down their offense and eating up the clock like we've done in every other game
  6. people don't want to admit it but we match up pretty dang well in this game. I like the matchups, as well. The big thing for NU's defense will be able to control the jet sweep. Wisky's traditional run game is between the tackles and they use the jet sweep to hit big plays on the outside. If that can be minimized, I like NU keeping the score down. Another advantage for NU could be place kicking. Brown has been pretty nails all season long, while Wisky has had to go to their 2nd string kicker, who missed 2 FG's against Iowa. yep keeping the run game at bay will be key. Love our secondary vs their passing game. Hornibrook is ok and will be good as his career progresses but honestly purdues air attack is definitely more deadly than Wisconsins.
  7. except for our offensive line that consists of like 6 walk-ons, some toothpicks and chickenwire I didn't say we matched up well across the board, but I think we have the personnel to win where we need to
  8. I can't believe the fans are holding on so dearly to Iowa's unrealistic commit rules. This is a big decision for people and the coaches don't need to trap the players in their commitment. If you are afraid of your player trying to gain as much information about the schools he may attend as possible, maybe you should rethink how you recruit 100% agree. I just don't understand pulling a scholarship because a kid is weighing his options. I'm sure Iowa is currently trying to flip kids committed elsewhere also. Hopefully their loss is our gain.Desmond King was committed to Ball State and Iowa flipped him in their favor. Pure hypocrisy. and people talking on the board saying they don't want this guy's because they aren't committed to the Iowa way. It's bull crap. A kid will be all in for a school that wants what's best for that kid and allows him to weigh his options. At the end of the day it is the recruits decision and the recruit will pick the school that is best for him. Iowa has a system in place that says we care more about us than we do about you to a recruit.
  9. people don't want to admit it but we match up pretty dang well in this game.
  10. Pretty much sums up what I've been saying for quite awhile. Running the ball wins games. Like when it was 3 and 9 almost every time because we ran twice - sure wish we would have run on third down so we could have punted and WON the game..... gotta have more success on first down in the second quarter
  11. I've been wondering if the number of times Riley has gone for it on 4th down is a result of the analytics dept. I doubt it. We're #86 in the country in 4th Down Attempts. Barely over once per game. I would guess the analytics would say to go for it more. maybe we don't get into the ideal 4th down situations enough?
  12. Seriously. There is a fan base and an anti fan base for every team. People think the team isn't good even if they win every game by 50 and claim to be "fans"
  13. That defense he has right now is a sight to see. If we had a defensive front like that, I would say we are headed for a collision course with them in the NCG
  14. I mean ... I agree with your point. But that's kind of always the case, isn't it? Not trying to say McNitt is Janovich but even when you put Janovich next to other skill guys, the answer is pretty much the same. Ameer Imani Cross Janovich Quincy Enunwa Kenny Bell Jordan Westerkamp Alonzo Moore Sam Burtch Brandon Reilly Cethan Carter yep. going back to 2014 and 2013. But 2015? You eliminate Ameer, Enunway, Bell, Burtch as choices. And change of systems and the circumstances of what I think was literally at times just looking for someone to frickin do something. I agree. My point was perhaps neither the previous staff nor the current staff really use the FB much given a decent amount of other options. I think this staff will use the fullback a fair amount when they get a talented multi tool guy in that spot (maybe Ben Miles?) If a guy can catch and run pretty well and is a beast of a blocker I think this staff will get him on the field

I could care less if McNitt sees playing time, he has done nothing to inspire confidence. Janovich had shown talent at that point in his career and deserved to be playing and utilized.

  17. This is the site I look at from time to time. Seems to be pretty accurate. Sorry the formatting doesn't paste very well. So in reality they are more beat up than we are, which would make sense given their competition to this point.
  18. For all the preseason talk about distractions, this team has responded better than alot anticipated
  19. every time we use that lame formation it gets stuffed It just brings too many guys into the box and the o-line isn't winning the one on one battles. 22 personnel (2 tight ends, 1 IB, 1 FB) requires such great blocking because of the guys in the box, plus, the defense will go with a base defense and sub out a DB, so it brings another big defender into the equation. yep you have to be strong up front to run that effectively. I don't think we should completely abandon it though. Maybe we can catch Wisconsin or Ohio state in a bad position with a play action or naked boot with Tommy out of that look Agree 100%. NU shouldn't abandon it completely, but that formation isn't going to be a staple of the offense. NU can definitely run some effective plays out of that formation, especially when Cethan comes back. The extent to which we miss Cethan Carter almost deserves it's own thread. The offense in both phases has been pretty anemic since he went down. He really did alot for the offense that doesn't show in the box score Edit: not to diminish Sam Cotton, he has done well for us, but we really do better when we have them both available
  20. if our guys have any pride I don't think we will see that next week.
  21. quick pitch, but for this to work we need guys who can get out in front and block. I think we see more outside run with the return of Cethan Carter

  23. Conditioning certainly helps, but also I would think that NU would have deeper and more talented rosters than every other team (Oregon may be an exception) that they have played so far. At some point that deeper roster and more talent is going to take control of the game physically. That might have something to do with it. But if it was simply a matter of having more talent wouldn't we do better in quarters 1 through 3 as well? I think that stat we have run the ball basically twice as much in the fourth as we have in the second is a reason. We need more successful first down runs in the second quarter which will allow us to do alot more on offense
