  1. ✅ Tip of the hat matty, Nice call. Adding to the db talent pool. Doesn't really matter the ranking this class is bringing in some talented players
  2. I was really hoping to hear the rocks entry music for him on his senior day
  3. Gonna be loaded on the backend for a few years. Competition for playing time should bring out the best
  4. Yes things are moving quickly but with each advancement in understanding 10 more questions come in to play. Cte isn't just about concussions its about collisions that are violent enough for the brain to move. During an inside drill or a pulling drill the same scout team linebacker may go head up with guards and centers several times in a session. While he might not be concussed on any of them he may have a point of contact that causes a brain movement which can lead to CTE. This player can be more at risk than a star player due to the volume of contact. So big hits, while detrimental, are not the only problem within football. Big hits which spurred this convo to this point. While big hit concussions and repeated blows to the head can lead to symptoms of depression and other disorders there are still questions of drug dependency to consider along with pre existing mental conditions. Blanket stating head trauma and concussions will lead to you having a less than healthy life after the fact is not the message tthat should be pushed. How many of the NFL players that have taken their lives been regularly taking ped or pain medications throughout their careers and then have them taken away in their private lives? How many of those individuals we seeking therapeutic help? It's a much broader spectrum of just saying head injuries are causing athletes to hurt themselves and others later in life. Does it happen? Yes. Is it one of the major factors? Probably. Should it be used to convey one's point in an argument on a play that happened years ago and both players have probably forgotten? Nope
  5. You are arguing over correlations that are just now beginning to be understood. There are a lot of factors that go into any persons suicide. Cte,depression even steroid use causing temperament imbalances could lead to it in football players. The amount of former players that have committed suicide is small in comparison to the players that have not. I played 8 years and have suffered concussions on and off the field. I would still suite up and play if I could knowing the risks. I was taught early on about getting your bell rung and getting concussed/injured and maybe my coaches were just better at informing us. They used to tell us "football is a violent collision sport. If you want a contact sport go play basketball." My point is most young men are warned about the risks they take suiting up and if they aren't the coaches aren't doing their jobs.... That being said Borlands hit wasn't illegal, you know why? Because they didn't throw a flag. I was at the game and was flipping out on the bell penalty but not really so over Borland hit. If thats a highlight of suh doing that to colt McCoy in big12 championship no one bats an eyelash on here and we would be cheering for it.
  6. Bring back the wing-t, no one has seen it in so long they won't know how to stop it...to have a better rushing attack you need better blocking and runners not systems. All those national champ teams listed above and at Nebraska had some talented blockers and running backs. Pretty sure every Alabama national championship team had multiple 1st round running backs in the back field. So it wouldn't matter if we run power I, triple option, double wing if the talent isn't there to open a hole and finish a run. I'm hoping this group of lineman match their potential and start opening holes... 400 rushing yards a game gtfo. College football is about passing game because NFL is about passing game. You don't build a feeder system to not feed you the talent you want. End rant GBR
  7. I got 10 votes in for in. Up to 14%. Buffalo is in 1st? Wtf
  8. I don't see the comparison to Burkhead at all. Oz is much bigger and more of a plodding running back compared to Burkhead. Rex was tough and excelled between the tackles by getting small in the hole, and he was also able to make cuts in the open field, He's more of a poor mans Rex Burkhead but remember that you're comparing a guy that just completed his true sophomore year against a guy that's graduated. Not a huge fan of Langsdorf's run scheme and I think that made all of our backs look worse than they were. I'm not comparing their production, I am comparing the style of running backs. Rex was 5'11, 210 lbs. Rex was a slasher who could excel on inside or outside rungs. Ozigbo is 6'0 230 lbs. Devine is the "big back" who runs north-south and breaks tackles to get chunks of yards. They are 2 totally different style of running backs. He's a better version of Imani cross more than burkhead. He shows flashes of ability to make people miss and runs with a lower pad level than cross did but he's not as elusive as rex nor as fast.
  9. So is there a consensus on mcquity'so height? I keep seeing it range from 5-11 to 6-2. at this point I'm leaning more towards the 5-11 side because athletes and coaches like to embellish height and weight a bit
  10. If bullocks can coach i'm all for it.I liked him and his brother as players. Bring back a blackshirt to pull the heart strings of the fan base and add another coach to instill the sense of pride that it is to be a blackshirt. Jacksonville's secondary wasn't completely terrible last year.... If Bray leaves I don't think it creates that big of a void to fill. It opens up a spot to bring in another coach with 3-4 background to help coach up the linebackers. I do believe they should keep two seperate groups of LB's because there is a big difference in assignments and what you are asking outside lb's and inside lb's to do. I like Bray and think he has done a commendable job thus far, would have like to see young progress a little more but bando and rose-ivery improved significantly, in my eyes, under him. I would like to see him stay and get to work learning the nuances of diaco's d so he can properly coach his position group.
  11. OP marker board photo is in reference to act/sat scores or rather lack there of and what GPA you would need to carry iirc . You can get a 3.0 without taking either the act or sat and 50% of schools could accept you. It's basically a formula for letting athletes know what they would need to score or do to get in. My blood is red your GPA is terrible
  12. Similar to your mom hush your mouth. red16's mother is a saint
  13. I think MR will be given til 18 to win the games that matter. If you can't do it with a full class coming thru you probably can't do it.
  14. 01 Miami at #27?? That's a joke right. That team was loaded at every position, 2 deep at most of them. I don't care about longevity, that team for that year has to be a top 3 all time
  15. If people want to say the B1G is the best conference then the majority of teams playing an SEC team need to win. Huskers need this win. To make the jump to the top tier teams in the league you need to win.
  16. Hopefully any of the DE we signed can come in and play well. We need a playmaker. Unless Freedom really improves over the off season he isn't the answer and obviously if nobody could beat out Ross Dzuris the guys we have on the team now are not very good. I agree Mcquitty will get on the field. Hoping one of the lbs can break the lineup but I feel like these coaches play favorites or are playing to the interest of the fan base and play senior walk ons. Marcus Newby will be a senior so I feel like he will have the olb spot opposite Young so unless any of these incoming freshman play mike I don't see them starting. I think you're throwing Dzuris under the bus here. Could he start for Alabama or Ohio State? Probably not. But he is a solid player and as 5th year senior, that gives him a big edge physically over practically any true freshman coming in or redshirt freshman. Like it or not, playing in the interior O and D lines at this level still usually requires a redshirt year at minimum. Most guys truly aren't ready to play physically until they are true or redshirt sophomores. best mustache in the B1G. Only other school he'd start at would be rutgers. Great story, high motor but would get pushed off the line, couldn't close out on qbs to get sacks, lost containment way too often. Loved his hustle but he doesn't start at most power 5 schools
  17. The jersey designs aren't just for the fans. They are for the players and recruits so a lot of designs that you may not like but the players and upcoming generation love that sh#t. Adidas is on the rise. Getting more prominent spokesman and higher quality gear.
