  1. Interesting, I initially took it the opposite way, Matty. Thinking it was Bounds’ way of showing recruits that no matter what, Nebraska will still have familiar faces for the recruits. But I can see your point and that it might be a sign that Riley will still be here. At the very least, Riley proved to a lot of national writers that Nebraska could still be a top destination for recruits. I know his last two classes finished similar to Bo’s, but this class started off with a bang and I think it would have only gotten better if the product wasn’t so poor. Riley and some of his assistants used the advantages here perfectly. No more lazy recruiting excuses from our future coaches.
  2. It was frustrating watching Wisconsin run for 8 yards a carry and score 3 TDs to end the game but I put almost the entire blame on the offense for the game and this season. There are times when the offense is clicking beautifully and it’s actually really fun to watch. You can just picture some of these big time recruits putting up video game numbers in this system. But it doesn’t happen enough. We put up 17 on NIU and 7 of those points came off the bobbled punt return that only required us moving the ball two yards to score. We put up 17 on Wisconsin, but 7 were from a pick-6 and another 7 were from an 80 yard strike that almost looks and feels fluky in retrospect. That’s just not good enough no matter how good Wisconsin’s defense is. I came into the season ready to be disappointed, but more and more optimistic as the season progressed, with the defense. I expected better OLine play, better QB play, and an explosive and dominating offense and we don’t have anything resembling that.
  3. I believe in 3-3 and could even see 4-2. Unfortunately, it’s going to take some guts to pull off. Maybe we keep the Ohio State game close and use it to finish the season in a positive way. But I could also see us losing that one miserably and allowing it to become a chain reaction where we lose several more because the team checks out. This Wisconsin game felt identical to last years, the score wasn’t the same but we played with a ton of emotion and energy. Hopefully, the team is mentally tough enough to take (likely) another beating and then come out and finish the season strong but I could also see us losing every game the rest of the way.
  4. It’s not just the run the ball mentality that I’m jealous of. Wisconsin had an answer for everything on the road, in a crazy environment. They’re mentally and physically tough. Our corners are bad at tackling, but I guess we knew that already. Lee was alright and made some plays. Ozigbo is my favorite player on this team by far, his runs aren’t always pretty but at least he gives it his all. We had Wisconsin on the ropes and they looked uncomfortable on defense early on. Then they settled in on both sides of the ball. Crazy how they can make mistake after mistake and still find a way to win. That’s what good teams do. 7-5 is best case scenario. I’m wondering if we reach that.
  5. Mav posted earlier that he was officially visiting for the Wisconsin game and I had read it elsewhere as well. I haven’t seen him on any updated official lists for this weekend though. Seems the plan changed, could mean nothing.
  6. Goodrich isn’t visiting this weekend?
  7. Wow at the line. I Figured it’d be about a TD. I watched the NW/Wisconsin game, Leonhard seems to already have a good feel as a DC and playcaller. Much smoother transition than I expected.
  8. Might end up regretting this post but I think we win comfortably.
  9. Interesting. I’ll echo the same thought that’s been posted in here that there is no way Illinois scores as much as these ESPN guys are predicting. There might be a couple of really bad defensive performances coming up for us, but it doesn’t start this week in my opinion. Even if we manage to lose this game, I don’t think it will be because Illinois scores this much.
  10. A couple of future opponents on here but I figured this would go best in this thread with an immediate opposing corner on the list.
  11. With so many injuries, this was a gutsy performance from both sides of the ball. I wasn’t sure we’d get that going into the game. The offense works really well when they’re doing things that work well. DLine continues to impress. When Diaco brings pressure, there is a lot of chaos and a chance for a lot of forced TOs going forward. I’m trying not to take too much from this game because Rutgers really is that bad, but the team fought hard and earned a win. Anxious but a little more excited to see what we do against Wisconsin.
  12. Rutgers is so damn bad haha. A win is a win though and if we are able to get a long, time killing drive, I’ll walk away from this pleasantly surprised with our performance despite some first half frustrations.
  13. Rutgers is really bad but there are some positive signs here. Let’s put this game out of reach by a couple scores.
  14. A lot to be positive about, mostly related to the DLine. That 4th down stop was awesome and it was nice seeing some fire. Still can’t help but feel like we are about to give up a lot of points and a lot of yards in the upcoming games when the other offense has a pulse. But for now I’ll take this fired up defense. Offense just isn’t good enough right now. No excuse, even with the injuries. Frustrating playcalling.
  15. Really hoping for a game where we can get our starters out early. A necessity with the short week ahead as injuries are already becoming an issue. An ugly, grind it out win would be a disaster even though a win is a win.
  16. Sooo, is Morgan going to play? Haven’t heard anything about that being a possibility but missing Monday and Tuesday has me nervous.
  17. https://www.landof10.com/penn-state/5-star-recruit-micah-parsons-father-talk-ohio-state-penn-state-commitment-date-sec-visit Still visiting for the Wisconsin game. Sounds like we still have a good chance.
  18. 3 Rutgers players to watch for from this last week. Their QB and a LB made it week 2. RB and OT in week 1.
  19. Since 2007, they've had one top 25 class. We've had 5, including 2 in the top 20, and 2 additional that landed at 26. The way our recruiting class started in the top 10 this year (although that was always likely to drop) is something that Oklahoma State couldn't do. They've had three 10 win seasons, an 11 win season, and a 12 win season in that time frame. If we could pull that off, our recruiting classes would skyrocket into the top 15, no doubt in my mind.
  20. Gundy is one of the most underrated coaches in college football. He has been recruiting top 30-35 classes and his teams finish there or better (sometimes much better). And he's done that for basically 10 years. Something to be said for that. I feel he'd do the same thing here but hopefully with an even higher ceiling with our recruiting potential.
  21. Mav is 100% correct about Miles. His teams famously lost "above the shoulders," which has to be the most frustrating way to lose games. He's also a control freak and refused to adapt his offense or let his OCs do their jobs. His teams would always manage to win a game they had no business winning after making mistake after mistake. They also lost several games they should have never lost. With all that said, I think he's a good fit in the B1G and he would no doubt bring our swagger back and make us an NFL factory again. The blackshirts would be back under his watch and the OLine would be restored even if the offense was frustrating to watch at times. He'd be able to recruit nationally and recruiting would always feel like it did at the beginning of summer when Riley and co were landing 4-star after 4-star. And Bookie would stay and become our Mathieu. If the job becomes open, I sincerely hope we interview several candidates and make sure we hire the right guy. But I'd be all in if we grabbed Miles.
  22. I thought Morgan was for sure done for the year when the camera panned to him holding his knee in the endzone. So the fact that he was fine was a big positive from the game. DLine and Parella are fun to watch. I'm not sure any losses would surprise me at this point. But there are a lot of wins that could surprise me.
  23. I loved how intense the DLine was and they got pretty good pressure with just the 3 of them and did a good job again all around. I thought Morgan was done for the season when he was down in the endzone grabbing his knee. So grateful it wasn't as serious as it looked. I'm currently rewatching the game. Down 14-0, near the start of the 2nd quarter, they were driving the ball right down our throats. I actually forgot why they didn't score that drive as it was happening (missed FG), but they even executed the trick play pretty well. If the throw was a little deeper, I think we go down 21-0. Which makes me hesitant to say the defense did a good job. They did alright in the big picture, only giving up 7 points, but it still seems like they struggled when it mattered and gave up a lot of cushion. I don't know what to expect the rest of the way. The team seems mentally fragile in a lot of places and I'm worried there might be some quit after a game like today.
  24. Riley has been a 2nd half coach. Let's see some adjustments. Should have been closer but we are probably also a little lucky it wasn't worse. Their offense is bad. Stop them on the first drive and close this gap.
