  1. Mike Riley has lost 4+ games EVERY year he has been at Oregon St.....including multiple years with a losing record! Shawn Eichorst makes this fan base believe that money is not an issue, resources are not an issue, big time coach is coming our way......AND instead we get a 61 year old coach (not named Tressel) who has accomplished jack on a national scale!!!! This to me speaks NOTHING to the B1G about our commitment to this program and maybe it provides an insight as to where our beloved program is becoming to be viewed at on the college football landscape. I cannot express to you how disappointed I am in this hire. I hope I'm wrong, but this is without question not the hire that provides excitement to an already reeling fan base. P.S. Hey sock puppet.......get lost in the dryer!!! #GBR
  2. I think maybe good ol' sock got thrown in the laundry......
  3. Tressel is definitely my #1. I really hope some of the BS that I have read is this thread is true!
  4. On just a little side note, Shaun Alexander played for Alabama in the late 90's.....
  5. I would say your list is pretty dang accurate in my eyes. I am a little partial to Kent Pavelka, from the fact that he is the one who I grew up listening to. I have heard Greg Sharpe has been doing a nice job though in recent years.
  6. No, it's not. There's a thing called "strength of schedule" which Nebraska has none of. The nonconference schedule is a joke. Oregon State, USC an TCU are NOT basketball schools. Just because they are in power conferences does not mean they are good wins. You can't sugar coat the fact that, for whatever reason, this year's basketball team is terrible. We're young at almost every position, and Doc still can't figure out how to set a rotation and how to properly motivate players without completely destroying their confidence. He's got a long way to go before establishing Nebraska as even a mid-tier basketball team in the Big XII. I am stupified as to what some of you expect from this team, this program, and this coach in this current state. You dont make moonshine out of moonbeams, and you dont make great basketball teams out of basketballs and a fans want. Doc has nothing to work with. I just dont see how anyone lays the blame for this at Doc's feet. You have to take the whole program in, and examine it. I have a lot more questions about the seriousness of this team in terms of the athletic department and support staff than Doc. Honestly, what have they provided him with since hiring him to succeed? Other than the honor of leading the wreck? sh#t. NOTHING. Doc is a great coach. The product your seeing is not completely controlled by him. You bring in someone else, same story. Those that want to point to Kansas St as "oh, they can do it, why cant we..." are lacking in the history department and overlooking that their athletic department laid their proverbial manhood on the table and put their money where their mouth was. I am positively not sugarcoating anything. If this team was "terrible," they would have a losing record. We'd be 1-674. Unfortunately, Doc will probably continue to do nothing more than tread water with this program until A: he's fired and someone else gets 4-5 years to drown, or B: the athletic department steps up, and Doc figures out how to lure another Sallie and keep him this time. If Doc is such a great coach, then explain his playing rotations (something he can control)? He plays one guy 25 mins one game and then doesn't play him at all the next game. Shoot, Standhardinger played pretty well the other night against Colorado, and then Doc comes out in the OWH that Standhardinger is not guaranteed anymore time because of his defensive play and practice habits. Same story with Hankins-Cole. WE NEED TO SCORE POINTS!!! I don't care if a kid is not having a good week in practice or not, if he gives us a better chance at winning games...PLAY HIM!!! This isn't junior high or high school anymore gents. We don't have to play everyone to make them feel good about themselves, or to keep their parents happy. Play the kids that give us a chance at winning!!
  7. It has to be Tommie Fraizer! That guy was unbelievable. Every time he stepped on the field, there wasn't even a doubt what the outcome of the game would be! (Given, he did have some pretty good help around him!)
  8. I will agree that we do seem to be competitive in our losses (sometimes not though) and we do sneak a few good wins out every once in awhile, but this is starting to get comparable to the Collier years. People forget that even Collier could get a big win every now and then (#4 Oklahoma State, etc.), but he was eventually let go because we were going no where as a program. Have we slipped to that point again?
  9. Does anyone in the "Is Doc the right guy?" thread want to rethink some comments????? I'm losing more and more faith in Doc every time we step on the court!
  10. I understand your argument regarding practice facilities, and I think Dr. Tom is addressing this in the very near future. So maybe we should wait and make our judgments after those facilities are built. The thing that is beginning to drive me crazy though is that our "fans" just write off our basketball team every single year!! Maybe its time that the attitude of the "fans" begin to change! Our basketball "fans" are some of the most fair-weathered fans around and I wish they would begin showing more support than just showing up for games like Kansas..........
  11. Doc's practices are not "too hard." Players love Doc, that isnt the reason they arent sticking around. I can say this with full confidence, as my cousin played for him. Doc is fine. Im not happy with how Big 12 play has started out, but come on, this team is still 12-6 at the moment. Geesh. Its Nebraska Basketball. Say that out loud, "Nebraska Basketball." Everything will be okay. This team is 12-6 because we play NOBODY in our non-conference schedule! Chicago St., Alabama A&M.....give me a break!!! I know you are saying that its "Nebraska Basketball", but why should we hold low expectations for this program???? We were a pretty consistent team back in the early to mid-90's, so obviously it can be done. Also, look at K-State. They were NEVER good until Huggins got there. He is obviously gone now, but the attitude and expectations there have increased and look where they are now! Don't hold this team to a different standard than we do for any other Husker teams!!!
  12. I want to first start off by saying that I am an avid Husker Hoops fan that doesn't jump on and off the bandwagon. I have been a season ticket holder now for a couple of years and have always liked the way the team has hustled and kept us close in bigger games. After the Iowa State game though tonight, I am finally starting to second guess what we have with Doc Sadler. It was embarrassing some of the coaching moves he made tonight, and he even admitted to them. But after some thinking, our basketball problems go far deeper than just this game. For some reason, we rarely can keep a kid on the team for 4 years, and they aren't leaving for the NBA!!! I'm just getting really frustrated with where this program is heading. How do we get some decent recruits?? K-State can do it! The good recruits we do get seem to always have a clearinghouse problems (Sallie). All of our other recruits seem to have to come from outside the United States!! I guess what I am trying to find out is if people really think that Doc Sadler is the right man for our program or has he started to lose some faithful followers???
  13. He still had his shoulder pads on during post-game prayer. If he had something wrong with his shoulder, they would have had him out of pads right away.
  14. I have seen this video a million times and still feel the same way I did after the first time I saw it.............JACKED UP!!! GBR!
  15. Back in my UNK days , it was Busch Light all the way (primarily because it was cheap and came in a 30 pack!!!) Now I would have to say that Sam Adams is always a smart decision.
  16. was it a wet dream? meaning... did the rain play a big role?
  17. Good stuff!! Keep up the good work out there!!
  18. Maybe I'm crazy but I don't think the University would like one of it's coaches dating an internet porn girl. I know you were kidding as well. If he gets a GA spot it won't be until next year when the current ones leave. I might be a little out of the loop on this one, but who is the internet girl that Joe has been dating?
  19. Well that blows. Is it on Dish Network PPV? From what I understand, the game can be ordered nationally with a national TV provider such as Dish Network. So I would say yes. Tough game last night for Clemson by the way, I was hoping they were going to pull that one out.....
  20. Thanks for the info! I was beginning to wonder.....
  21. I don't know what is funnier to me. The fact that you would post this comment here. Or the fact you thought it was somehow relevant to the discusion!!! .........................
  22. I agree.....I thought this thread was about Travis Hawkins.......
  23. Without a doubt the Missouri Tigers!!! We dominate a team for years and years, and do it with respect for them. Then they win a few times and treat the Husker Nation like crap. I have had plenty of friends attend games in Columbia, and said the treatment was horrible. I don't have any respect for a team and its fanbase when they don't know how to win and lose with class.
