  1. If any of you ultimately think this is Trev's decision, you are incorrect. Trev's job is to remain positive and supportive up until the time his bosses tell him to cut the cord. Based on his comments, I believe there is enough support to retain Frost IF the Huskers don't completely flop in our last 4 games. I think that is pretty obvious- everyone wants this to work.
  2. I think he, and likely a lot of others on the team, will evaluate based on 2 things. Did the team finish with momentum- does it feel like next year could go well? 2nd, are there any staff changes. A new coach might change things up considerably if that's the direction Nebraska goes. Guessing we see a lot of Covid Juniors bounce if that's the case.
  3. We aren't on the brink of disaster in any way shape or form. We have a ton of young talent coming up, a bit easier schedule next year, and extremely low expectations. It isn't often a coach will get to take over in a situation like Nebraska has where the fan base would be happy just making a bowl game. Plenty of big names would be interested if the money were right.
  4. Still fun... I have actually enjoyed watching almost every game this year. That's an improvement over the last 2 years. The endings have disappointed often but the games have been pretty entertaining imo.
  5. True... damn looking at 2019, 2020, and 2021 we will have a huge number of sophomore and younger offensive linemen. Point taken... but the future looks pretty bright at that spot.
  6. I follow you and don't disagree completely but neither was a green freshman. Ezra enrolled in January of 19 so he had 1.5 years of S&C. Nouili also enrolled in January of 2019 and played 8 games with CSU.
  7. But we have? Here are the two O Linemen we picked up. Nouredin Nouili was a 2020 transfer (3 star from CSU that I believe was underrated and a great find) Ezra Miller was a 2020 transfer (4 star from Iowa) We also picked up Darrion Daniels - not a bad grab
  8. I get where you guys are coming from but I do agree, Tony typically has some pretty good takes so I do like to see the back and forth public.
  9. In reference to the past 2 cycles, I think those players on the line simply need time at the college level to produce. Linemen historically take the longest to develop- even you referenced that in another thread a while back. Does Teddy get hurt with another year of strength and conditioning? I think it is a legitimate question and it was obvious the coaches preferred to wait to use him. I'll be the first to say I think our O-Line coaching has been suspect- simply from a discipline standpoint it was obvious they needed help. I put that 100% on coaching. Overall I have felt like the D Line has played pretty well and showed good development.
  10. Or it could be that we signed 14 linemen in the last 2 cycles and are fairly deep in the rooms. Most were too green to use this year but with another year we actually have quite a bit of depth on both lines... on paper. Again, recruiting has actually been pretty good. You guys are barking up the wrong tree with this entire thread.
  11. If it happens, It will at minimum be initially depressing to most husker fans. I do think Scott has had a lot of bad luck and things happened that were out of his control. Between scheduling, Covid, cancelled games, Transfer portal issues, players getting in legal trouble, etc he has had a hell of a challenge during the rebuild. People can argue intricacies about what was in or wasn't in his control but either way, it's been tough. At this point, those excuses do have to be swept aside IF the team doesn't turn it around for the last 4 games. We have a few games left against teams that we can, and should, beat imo. Get that done and most would want him back for another year to see if the momentum continues.
  12. Agree to both. I'm one of the more optimistic guys on the forum but the results are what they are. I'm really hoping Nebraska can finish with momentum. If they can't, I really feel some changes are necessary. The thought of another "rebuild" sucks...
  13. Nebraska 34 Purdue 24 Rush - 203 Pass - 304
  14. He might want to but a group of 5 school likely won't pay the buyout. Unless Scott volunteers for the huge pay cut, that isn't likely.
  15. Thanks captain obvious. 99% of us understand the impacts of recruiting. However... How will recruiting win 3 of the next 4 to save this staffs jobs? Recruiting should not be a priority on our staffs to do list this week. Beating Purdue should be. The ONLY people who give a rat about our 2022 class right now are those looking for ways to cast Frost in a bad light. You guys want a change. Don't blame you but the reality is you don't need any more ammo. The on field results are what they are. Even if we sign three 4 stars today, it doesn't change that they need to win some games to save their job.
  16. We signed 25 last year. We have plenty of young talent. This year we have a handful of young recruits committed but have left a lot of open room to sign transfers and JUCO kids to fill in gaps. If we finish the season strong, we will sign a few high profile recruits. If we don't, it may not matter.
  17. Omaha recruits have always been a crap shoot- no matter the coach or how we have performed lately. There is always an % of recruits that can't wait to get out of Nebraska. Recruiting is the least of our worries right now - not sure why people are focused on that?
  18. Haven't seen it mentioned yet. This week is the first time or coaches have been able to travel to see recruits in 2 years. When you consider our lack of proximity to recruiting bases, and our on the field results, it would be crazy to expect it to be any different. We will fill the class but I'm guessing what level of receipts we get will be determined by how we finish the season. Settling on mediocre recruits now makes zero sense. If we finish poorly, we can get those guys 6 weeks from now. If we finish strong, we likely attract a few more upper level kids so waiting to push makes complete sense. b!^@hing about something that doesn't matter right now is just another way to whine and show your dissatisfaction with the staff and the past results. But it means absolutely nothing.
  19. The ridiculous part is expecting us to compete at an elite level when we are struggling to beat anyone right now. It would be a hell of an accomplishment for this team to win 3 of our remaining 4. If that happens, who cares what the Ohio State score was imo.
  20. I think we all know Ohio State is on a completely different level than Michigan, Michigan State, etc... It is obvious the point you are trying to make but it's ridiculous. We need to learn how to beat middle of the road west teams before we worry about how we measure up to the elite teams in the country.
  21. Gotcha- yeah he really wasn't ready then lol.
  22. Honestly Pelini probably would have done pretty well- and he wouldn't have had a chip on his shoulder. He wasn't ready but once candidates 1-6 turned us down, he probably should have been given a shot.
  23. It is a good thing opinions don't control outcomes. While it remains possible, I will hope for it. I'm not predicting 4-0 but stranger things have happened and it would sure make for some great excitement for the program. Hell of a lot better than thinking about the possibility of a coaching search... yuck. Speaking of that, great article about one search from the past that started this tailspin we have been in... https://theathletic.com/?p=2885515&article_source=search&search_query=nebraska
  24. There is also the "distinct" possibility of 5-7, 6-6, or 7-5. That's the point those of us pumping the brakes are saying. It is an overreaction at this point in the season because the reality is Nebraska and Frost still have a fighting chance to have a winning record this year. If that happens, we would have significant momentum going into the offseason and all the fire Frost talk would be gone for at least 12 months. While I am skeptical they can pull it off, I'm going to watch with excitement and hope. If they happen to finish 3-9, or 4-8, I would be in favor of a coaching change. Guessing much of Husker Nation would feel the same.
  25. I understand your point now. My thought on the problem is it hasn't been how we have performed against the elite teams but rather the losing to lower level teams. Nebraska has been losing to elite teams for 20 years so we are kind of used to it. It's the losing to the Illinois/Minnesota/Purdues of the world that has got everyone riled up. We need to figure out how to beat 3 teams remaining on our schedule that, on paper, we should be better than.
