  1. Or teams ability and talent is ever fluctuating. It's nice to see or fan base, in general, remains unrealistic lol. We aren't beating ohio state with our roster unless we catch some breaks. We didn't catch any and actually ohio state did. See tipped ball completion, scoop and score perfect bounce, etc. That said, we are a lot closer than we were last year. We are headed in the right direction, even at receiver. Those that are negative, chill out and rewatch the game. It's close and I believe the results will show soon.
  2. The vast majority of people don't have heart problems from Covid. Why not test people for the rare issue instead of making everyone miss the extra week? I'm up to 43 friends and members of family that have had it. From my personal experience, I don't think longer periods out of football are justified. After all, we don't even check people after other illnesses that are proven to cause the same side effects.
  3. I hope the test ends up negative. We can beat a full strength Wisconsin. I don't want any * by the win in anyone's mind. They beat up on a terrible team and we arguably played the best team in the nation. I like Nebraska Saturday.
  4. I think Nebraska has a reasonable shot to win this game. Wisconsin is not Ohio State in any way. I would take Nebraska and +10.5 and feel very good about it.
  5. Nebraska 31 Wisconsin 20 Yesterday's game had a different feel to me, especially in the trenches. Our line play, against the best opponent we will see all season, was very good imo. That will translate to quite a few wins with the first being next week.
  6. I agree. It is difficult to judge what we have against OSU. Pretty much everyone looked bad against them last year... Even Clemson at times. Wisconsin and NW will provide a much better look at our schemes and talent level.
  7. 20 years ago seems like a long time for younger generations. It's really not that long ago and, when you put it in the perspective of only 1 of 65 power teams will win yearly, it's impressive what Nebraska has done. Here are just a few bigger name teams that have NEVER won a championship- Miss State Oklahoma State Missouri Oregon South Carolina Arizona Arizona State West Virginia Virginia Tech Wisconsin Purdue Indiana Kansas North Carolina Fans of those teams should be annoyed and Nebraska fans should be proud! The odds say a team should only win one championship every 65 years. Our 5 in the last 50 years is more than the rest of the B1G combined. It's still ok to hold our head high.
  8. Very true and I get where you are coming from. We have just seen so many kids hyped through the years that end up doing little to nothing for the team. I try to wait until they see the field before passing judgement. He does look good on paper though...
  9. I have a difficult time hanging our hopes on a guy we haven't seen in a Husker Jersey yet. I would be in 100% agreement that we need another couple productive receivers on the field though to take attention off of WR.
  10. Compare the other 3 previous players FR seasons... He is looking as good or better than the previous players imo. Freshman seasons for the above- Hurts - 382 attempts 62.8% completion rate 23 TD to 9 INT 2780 yards (15 games) Murray - 121 attempts 59.5% completion rate 5 TD to 7 INT 686 yards (8 games) Mayfield - 340 attempts 64.1% completion rate 12 TD to 9 INT 2315 yards (8 games)
  11. I have. He has made some rookie mistakes with the ball a few times. "everyone else" in that system over the last three years was an experienced senior QB. He is keeping pace as a Freshman! The kid is anything but a dud. 2020 - Rattler FR 71.3% 297 yards per game avg. 3.25 TD per game avg/ 2019 - Hurts SR 69.7% 275 yards per game avg. 2.28 TD per game avg. 2018 - Murray SR 69% 311 yards per game avg. 3 TD per game avg. 2017 - Mayfield SR 70.5% 330 yards per game avg. 3 TD per game avg.
  12. I think Rattler is far from a dud...smh. Through 4 games he has 13 TD to 5 INT, over 70% completion percentage (92 of 129 attempts completed), and has thrown for 1200 yards... all as a freshman. His lone "bad" performance was against Kansas State where he had a 73.2% completion percentage, 4 touchdowns, 400 yards through the air, but had 3 interceptions. His offense still put up 35 points which should be enough to win. 99% of teams in the country would be ecstatic with those stats. If Oklahoma played defense, they would be undefeated and he would remain in the Heisman conversation.
  13. I think that is a very valid point. However, it's not like pandemics come around too often and the B1G listened to it's members in the end. I think college football is either headed towards an expanded playoff or 4 super conferences. 4 super conferences make a lot more sense to many as it results in a very clean playoff picture- the 4 conference champions play for the title. Not sure which conference goas away but it won't be the B1G or the SEC if that happens. The Big 12 seems the most fragile at the moment to me.
  14. Clemson put up 37 week 1 against Wake. Alabama put up 38 week one against Missouri. First game of the year, it takes a minute to knock the rust off and get everything running smooth. I would take Nebraska and the points if I was a betting man.
  15. I would agree. Managing a roster full of 4 and 5 star kids can present it's own set of challenges. Every kid with that rating expects to be on the field, right away. Keeping their egos in check and their name out of the transfer portal while they develop is probably extremely challenging in today's college football world.
  16. I think most will be at capacity- there is enough of the population that isn't concerned with Covid and we are all ready for Husker Football.
  17. That's a bonus? Sounds like the kind I get at work these days...
  18. Most of our highly ranked guys are young- just like the majority of our team. Our highly ranked upper classmen have left. The Riley recruits, in general, didn't fit in the current program.
  19. I heard that a good percentage of the guys had it this past spring/early summer but I don't know specific numbers. The rumor is over 50% have the antibodies now. The guys are fairly tight lipped about who did or didn't though.
  20. Ohio State 45 Nebraska 27 (Game is fairly close at half time) 162 rushing 254 passing
  21. I never used the term quitter. I said give up but essentially along the same lines. Think back through the years about all the players who were removed for a game or two to provide some motivation. Sometimes players need to step back for a bit to get focused or to be held accountable. Now coaches have to be almost afraid these days to do that. I'm no fan of the current trends. It would be a different story if a kid were benched for a season, then by all means transfer if it gives you the best chance to reach your goals.
  22. I think 4 is fairly likely but... Hate to say it if I was betting, I would say under.
  23. Give up at the first sign of adversity...sigh. Losing the starting job doesn't mean you can't reach all your goals. Take Cardale Jones for instance - 3rd string guy that played himself into the NFL draft.
  24. Jackson will play. You don't put someone on scholarship unless they will help you on the field.
  25. I agree that is possible but I believe it's unlikely. I think one of two things happens. Either AM is playing at a high enough level to go to the NFL after year 4 or he will be passed by Luke or Logan. My vote is on the NFL. I then think its very possible both young guys stay to battle for the job in what we all hope is a top 10 offense by that time. If Luke loses that battle, I could see him transferring at that point since the only path to start would be through injury. If Logan loses, he would still have 1-2 years of eligibility left when either Luke goes to the NFL or is done with eligibility. On top of that, the chance for injury is high so I believe he would have good motivation to stay on as #2.
