  1. Didn't that happen a yea or two ago with Riley and crew? With a running back from Texas that ended up going to SMU or Rice or something?
  2. Quite the opposite. What's the point of a resume without a 40 time, vertical leap and power clean max?
  3. Out of everybody left that hasn't either signed or committed to Nebraska, this is the guy I most want to get.
  4. It would be great if he came to Nebraska. I wonder if someone floated the idea of him transferring* to Lincoln earlier? * yes, I understand the odds are drastically low
  5. Offensively, I think it will probably be the most for Nebraska since 2010. Martinez and Helu both broke tons of big runs.
  6. That's what I'm saying though. We still wouldn't really know. We'd think that we would know, but we would still only have a small piece of the picture.
  7. True, but maybe it's a blessing in disguise. He could be a good football player and a decent guy, but some things shot out of context make him look bad. I have no idea if his academics are good or not, but it's probably for the best that we as fans don't know the ins and outs of his classes.
  8. None. But he'd be perfect to run Frost's offense. I didn't know that there needed to be a connection. And yes, I fully realize that the odds of this happening are incredibly low.
  9. Not a recruit, but it would be great if Nebraska could get Khalil Tate.
  10. He regressed each season. Comparing him to Vincent Valentine isn't a great comparison. There were times his last two seasons that Valentine impressed people with his play. If Gates doesn't want to be in Lincoln, then there's no point in him staying. College football is hard. I'd rather have three star offensive linemen that want to be there and work than four stars that don't care*. * assuming that rumors about his work ethic are true
  11. In terms of recruiting, Louisville has seemed to beat Nebraska for a lot of guys recently. Since Louisville is listed as an option, I'm picking the Cardinals.
  12. Remember when most Nebraska fans thought Barney Cotton was the worst offensive line coach ever? We all may have been a little premature on that. Here's to hoping that Austin is significantly better than the last two.
  13. I'm just glad that it finally seems like everyone is pulling in the same direction.
  14. If you guys think Frost reads this message board or any other one, then you're crazy. Same for the other members of the football staff. Now, if you want to claim that players or recruits read message boards, I could buy that.
  15. If Nebraska was going to do it, I'd say it should be a wrestling title belt like Alabama or Ole Miss have. The difference being it should be the blackshirt insignia on the middle of the belt. Force a turnover, then you can either put the belt around your waist or sling it over your shoulder.
  16. I think the biggest issue for Nebraska is the fact that North Dakota State, South Dakota State, South Dakota and North Dakota aren't D-II schools anymore. NDSU and SDSU are FCS powerhouses. USD made the playoffs this year. Nebraska has 1.9 million people. North Dakota and South Dakota both have less than 900,000 people. It sounds weird, but those teams recruiting in Nebraska is like Oklahoma or Kansas recruiting in Texas. Each situation is different, but a lot of kids wouldn't turn down a full-ride scholarship for an elite FCS school to spend 80 grand walking on at Nebraska.
  17. To be fair, I think we fans used up our Christmas present on the next head coach.
  18. And by huge jump, I mean being consistently good after that. Not one 10-win season, then going back to winning seven or eight games for another decade.
  19. I'm late to this thread, so I won't have much new to add. Year one: I think just making a bowl should be the expectation. Anything better is gravy. I think Nebraska could realistically win more than six games in the regular season, but the first year is more about implementing the system than wins and losses. As we all know, the schedule is tough too. Years two and three: In one of these two seasons, I expect a big jump. Not necessarily a playoff or national title jump, but a dramatic increase in on-field performance. By the end of year three, you generally know how good or bad a coach can be. There are exceptions, but there aren't many coaches winning seven or eight games a year that have a huge jump in year six or later.
  20. Maybe in the last three? Certainly not going back four searches though.
  21. Haha, so had I. Somewhere between the loss to Northern Illinois and the loss to Wisconsin, I quit paying attention. Time to hop back on that horse I guess.
  22. Moos is the best AD Nebraska has had in a long time. I feel so much better about things with him running the show.
  23. This is not related to the seemingly-imminent hiring of Scott Frost, but just me being curious about the pulse around here. Would you prefer Nebraska to be better on offense or defense? This isn't taking into account specific offensive styles (like a West Coast, Triple Option or Air Raid Offense) or defensive styles (bend-but-don't-break 4-3 or an attacking 3-4). If you select offense, it doesn't necessarily mean your defense would be bad (or vice versa). It just means you would be more known for offense and consistently better on offense than defense. So, while not taking particular styles into mind, which would you prefer?
