  1. off topic a bit, but I was reading a lot of stories during the summer about our backs being used as relievers, getting them out in "space" on a check down or swing pass - what happened to that? I think Lee's checked down maybe 3-4 times in two games - and I think that was to Wilbon- never to Bryant
  2. with this staff we'd still be sucking Houston and Boise States tit- probably BYU's too
  3. whats funny is that in the win loss department struggling is defined as 9-3 or 9-4 especially if you've been here more than 3 years I never agreed with firing a coach that had a winning season, but that seems to be "normal" these days- i.e. Georgia, LSU NU x2 etc. if they are truly bad or just mediocre, wait for a losing season to fire them- I'd say this about Riley too
  4. he loses more than 7 games this season you can bet he'll be fired....but that isn't likely, the question is what about if he loses 7? what about 6? do we wait another year? the answer is probably yes (depending on the way we lose- blow-ups vs close games etc) After we're done paying Pelini all bets are off and a down year should be no worst than a 7-5 record and we better be going to the BIG championship game at least every other year
  5. I've witnessed the same sort of threatening and loutish behavior from USC, Colorado, Arizona State, and Mizzou fans- hell back in the day OU fans weren't that far off A-holes in every fan base- I've seen a few Nebraska fans act up too- usually at away or bowl games, as it wouldn't be tolerated in Lincoln
  6. the real question is did they give Herr Eikhorst an extension? there is no legitimate reason for that bozo to get an extension
  7. some people have a valid point- although it seems like bad timing, and a bad idea to give a raise after a loss, we need to do "some" things like this - as others have said this is a tool for our recruiting, think of it as a recruiting tax payment- nobody likes taxes but we got to pay them
  8. didn't realize his contract was only extended a year- not the worst thing, I guess you almost need to do that until all the wheels fall off- but if we're 5-7 like I predict and these morons extend his contract another year they will prove themselves stupid
  9. well history has almost completed the callahan cycle- Either Bounds is banking on Frost lasting that long in CFlorida, or we have no long term plans and just like to give people money as parting gifts. foolish either way
  10. I don't personally know any KSU fans, so I can't speak to that....but I'd trade coaches in a heartbeat.
  11. KSU has a professional grampa coach that only knows how to win- so I'd bet on her swaying you to grampa knows how to win, not to grampa lose as many as win.
  12. how about if she was just "feeling" her masculine side ?
  13. reasonable post- not sure anyone but the fans that are ignoring the facts of the situations you mentioned could disagree with it
  14. ok here it is ASU -W OSU-L NIU - W Rutgrs- W Ill- W Wisc-L OSU-L Purdue- L NWN- W Mnn- L PSU-L Iowa-L prior to the season I had MN and NorthWestern opposite, and had us winning the Purdue game for a 6-6 year
  15. i expected 6-6 now that's down to 5-7 so you could say at this point MR is meeting my expectations at .500
  16. FYI I'm not a gopher fan - the picture is of a land beaver, my play on Grampa's old team and I also wish Minnesota fans would stop calling gophers "whistlepigs" they're not- a land beaver and whistlepig can be called a groundhog a rock-chuck or a woodchuck but not a gopher- it'd be like Richard Gere confusing a hamster with a gerbil
  17. well if we want to get into opposites as a comparison basis between the two coaches then there is a reasonable expectation of producing a very long list
  18. you're welcome-anything I can do to clear the equivocation in the situation and make it a reasonable analogy
  19. yes they both coached at Nebraska
  20. might be "reasonable" but not probable and as far as TO's limits, since you cite no details of meaning, I'm not sure you can prove those "expectations" were false- unless of course you're talking about the "fans" expectations- those same expectations that almost got TO to go to Colorado. Except that they were both coaches for Neb, kind of a bad analogy
  21. if we take 2 out of those 3 I'd be pleasantly surprised looking at the schedule and taking in to account the first 2 games I'd say we're looking at a 5-7 maybe 6-6 season.
  22. and Riley is Callahan 2.0.N- the nice release
  23. part of the problem I have in suggesting we even think about putting in another QB is that they will have growing pains that could cost us more games this year- if that happens Eikhorst might have to fire Riley at the end of this year- we don't want that to happen (or of course the losses) we need time to get rid of Eikhorst first- I want the old man to win, but lets face it even if he wins enough to hang on what i the end game? I mean its not like he's a spring chicken
  24. Too much subjectivity to the phrase "good fans" so your friend can accept or deny the premise of the question. But in my opinion other than a few snarky response/replies, this thread and others don't sound like everyone is pissed, but that doesn't answer your question, so my opinion doesn't matter-
  25. I also see a trend, one day one the board and "some" not all, seem to use an attack the message as a way to ameliorate- sorry make a better case for their point of view. Disappointing but not unexpected I guess
