  1. Dude plays his heart out every game. Had to be a tough call but it's the right one for him. I will cheer for him on Sundays wherever he ends up.
  2. I miss old school smash mouth football as well, but the flexbone will not work at this level. The B1G defenses will eat us alive. We HAVE to be able to pass the ball. Something similar to what Chadwell is doing at CC is the closest we'd get to that. I'm not sure the current LSU OC is the right answer either. Their offense looks about as inept as ours does.
  3. Frost has always talked about blending Oregon speed with Husker Power. Let's do that, but 70/30 in favor of Husker Power. Keep the option wrinkles he's thrown in, start going under center a bit more, and ditch some of the kitschy spread stuff that doesn't work in the B1G without tOSU level talent.
  4. I think it's clear we need a strong reboot on the offensive side of the ball. I don't doubt we have the coffers to attract top ~15 candidates. Curious who they may be going after. Time will tell I suppose.
  5. McKewon seems to think that there were some pretty great interested candidates:
  6. If Held goes this is the clear replacement, imo. Dude is absolutely a winner and proven.
  7. I can get on board with that. All I know is I'm going to scream my head off for the team every Saturday regardless of who is coaching. GBR!
  8. Maybe he can join his father, Taylor, and build some sweet apps.
  9. I'm glad I could be of service. I guess maybe I'm too pragmatic, but it's already been confirmed there will not be a coaching search. You're clearly against Frost as the HC. I absolutely get that. The results haven't been there. You don't enjoy watching us play these top 10 teams close and lose. I also get that. I think I agree with you more than I disagree. You go on to say you won't enjoy it if we win 9 or 10 games next year. You then bring up Bo for some reason. It's clear that nothing that is potentially possible about Husker football in the near to intermediate future is going to make you happy. My question is: why do you continue to invest your time?
  10. No, not at all. Based on what you're saying in this thread literally nothing is going to make you happy so why do you continue to invest your time?
  11. You've admitted you're not going to enjoy the games if Frost is successful next year. Clearly you don't enjoy watching the team lose. Maybe you should go cheer for Bo? Where is he coaching again?
  12. To all of the people saying that the pro-Frost crowd doesn't get to complain about anything next year: does that mean if the team has success you don't get to enjoy it either? How does that side of the coin work?
  13. I've been pretty on the fence with letting him go or not. I can get on board with this decision especially with a restructured contract. If I were to guess I would assume it's going to be a much lower buyout and a lower salary with performance-based incentives.
  14. Definitely see your perspective and agree with it more than I disagree with it. I think if I were Trev I would cut ties if I was very sure I had a fantastic replacement. Maybe not even a homerun (i.e. Stoops or Petersen). That's also up in the air. It's clear with the split in the fanbase currently that the lows with Frost are a whole lot higher than the lows would be with anyone else. It's a triage-type situation and I find it to be oddly balanced. If we make a move now we need to see some demonstrable progress right away as fan apathy continues to sink. Frost might buy you another year with where we currently are if you can't get a fantastic replacement in line.
  15. It's tough. I grew up in the 90's and Frost was my hero as a kid. Going from getting booed to winning a natty was inspirational to me. I just say that to note my pretty clear bias. I'm also a businessman and looking at this from a business-like angle, I think the ROI of a successful Frost is significantly higher than a successful coach not named Frost. He can rally the fanbase better than anyone else and that will mean more $$$ with success. How much does 1 more year of Frost actually hurt the overall athletic department? It's clear that the boosters will buy up tickets to keep the sellout streak alive and it doesn't get much worse than where we are. One more year also lessens the buyout and saves you money. A reboot of the offensive staff gives you a great shot at that huge ROI of a successful Frost and his lessened buyout covers their salary and then some. With that said, in their Sunday meetings Trev has to be saying: "C'mon dude you gotta give me SOMETHING here good lord." Frost HAS to win at least 1 more game and be competitive in the other to stay. Even then you can absolutely make the argument he doesn't deserve it.
  16. That was a great article, and this decision is made infinitely more difficult because our coach is Scott Frost. If it was Tom Herman or Chip Kelly they would be let go and it's an easy decision. With that being said, you cannot deny that the team is still playing their hearts out. Look at Florida - they have straight up quit kinda like we did in 2007. There's a weird balance to both decisions (let him go or not). Our recruiting class is straight a$$. That can absolutely be remedied with the transfer portal, though. Look at what Tucker did at MSU. You can't deny our record is terrible. With that said we played top 10 teams to the wire and fought like hell. We also played just below Illinois, Minnesota, and Purdue. Our defense has been lights out great for the most part this year. Our offense is bad, and our special teams sniffs glue. At the end of the day I think I can live with either decision depending on how these last 2 games go. 3-9 and Trev needs to cut the cord. Either way, the offensive staff needs a reboot and we need to pay top dollar to get the best possible coaches, including a dedicated ST coordinator, in here.
  17. Surely one of the first things Alberts did when he took the job was get a list of coach candidates. I still think if we beat Iowa and Wisconsin then Frost stays. Hint: we won't. It's so sad. Frost is Nebraska through and through. What a story it would have been.
  18. I think this year is proof that Frost is in over his head. If we stay competitive with tOSU and beat Iowa and Wisconsin I can see giving him another year with the requirement that he reboots the offensive staff. I don't see that happening, though. I see us going 3-9 and at that point you need to let him go. Don't envy Trev at all. With that said, I bleed husker red and will scream my head off for the team regardless if Frost returns or not.
  19. I'm not very high on O'Brien. I'd rather roll the dice with someone like Lanning or Chadwell if we can't hit a major homerun hire.
