  1. We're going to be the whole package: academics and athletics.
  2. It would be nice to have a couple of geographically close games. Maybe it could make up for the increase in travel for conference games.
  3. Could we/should we schedule some of our old conference buddies to fill in our first month? I could see a yearly Kansas, Missouri, or even Oklahoma game. I know we generally schedule two or three at home fairly easy games with one that is more competitive for a home/away two game series. Could you see maybe two regular games per year from old conference rivals? If so who? I am think Missouri or Oklahoma, and then Kansas. I would love to meet up with Gill every year.
  4. Ok I know I am beating a deadhorse but I am not that tech savy so bear with me. I live in Louisiana and we have Cox. I will get all of the Big Ten games if I subscribe to the BTN? I get that there is one major game per week that is national, but the rest are available for a premium?
  5. Oh the memories!! That one should be pinned!
  6. WHEN HAS AN INCOMPLETE PASS OUT OF BOUNDS EVER BEEN REVIEWED TO SEE HOW MUCH TIME SHOULD BE PUT ON THE CLOCK? It was a non-reviewable play but they did it for Texas since they (ran) the conference. They (were) the CEO/Chairman of the old big twelve!!!!! Never, only when it is Texas and they are not going to the BCS National Championship Game. Tom Osborne brought up this point at the Big 12 meeting in KC. Quote was something like, (I guess we need some new guidelines/rules on how we put time back on the clock for incomplete passes) I will look it up and edit this. I think the last straw was/were a couple things. All championship games to be in the state of Texas and not rotating them. All teams voting consistently with Texas and against NU. I think 11-1 was the common number on most votes involving Big 12 issues. How many people remember the 93 Orange Bowl against Florida State. It was 4th and long with a few secs left to play. Tommie Fraizer completes a pass to give the Huskers a 1st down and get in field goal range, but time had expired. The refs review the play and determine that 3 sec should be added on the clock. We kick a long field goal but we missed it. We lost the game 16 to 18, if we would of made that we would of won 3 mnc three years in a row and 4 of 5 years. The point is our Huskers got 3 sec added after the clock had expired and I heard no bitching about it. So please lets give this a rest. The reason were going to the Big 10 it is what is best for Nebraska. Even if we had beat Texas last year we are still gone. The simple fact is it was a whole package deal. We get more revenue being on the Big 10 Network for sports. We are in a conference with all AAU accredited schools which adds prestige, and hopefully a larger, more diverse enrollment. Finally, the Big 10 will help us get our foot in the door when it comes to R&D cash which will help the campus expand its facilities years down the road. Does this mean no more annual 6%tuition hike, or at least a lesser tuition hike? I'm thinking about starting a college fund for my potential unborn, hopefully unthought of, grandchildren
  7. What the he!! are you talking about?
  8. Pretty much the polite type, save for a pretty rowdy college section. I never have, or don't remember, booing the other team. If a team comes into Lincoln and beats us on our home turf then they deserve respect and applause. Now a time or two I do remember booing our own team. I can't wait to visit the b10 stadiums and learn your traditions. I have heard some callers insinuate that Penn State fans are not the nicest of fans, but I do not believe they can be any worse then the trash of Colorado, Kstate and Missouri. Those are just horrible places if you are a Cornhusker.
  9. I never figured out why they were so hott anyway-save for geography.
  10. i agree I mean look at us Nebraska is single handedly for better or worse in the driver seat and its actions could and will change college football.... for better and for worse again atleast we are on the inside and people are conventing us so highly rather than our poor B12- North friends... and even thought Big Tom denies this i'm sure it feels good to stick it to texas in some way....... wonder how MORE EPIC THE TEXAS GAME IS GONNA BE THIS YEAR IF THIS ALL GOES DOWN?????? The school should get an elephant from the zoo and let it roam the sidelines during the game. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!! LMAO
  11. I hope we go, but I am cautious about these reports that we've been offered. The ESPN scroll bar read something like:"Big 12 rep says Nebraska has been offered an invite to the Big 10" that this rep is unnamed makes me wonder who would leak that info to the press and why.
  12. I went to ND/NU game in 2000 and I thought the college football hall of fame was a neat idea, but was either not yet completed or shoddily done. Have they finished it or make it better? I thought South Bend and the surrounding area was lame, althought Chicago is so close.
  13. The impetus was Delany (B10 Commissioner) announcing that the Big 10 would be expanding in the next 12-18 months. The involvement of NU came after much speculation regarding Texas and other ideas. However, the concreteness of the idea is sound. NU brings a LOT in athletics and academics, and IMO it fits Big Ten culture to a "t". Wasn't Delany's announcement just two or three week ago? I am thinking this started must have started behind closed doors long ago. I guess it doesn't really matter, but I am curious. Is it possible that Dr. Tom, fed up with Texas's bullying, planted the seed that started all of the reallignment chain of events? You know in the end, Dr. Tom will always win. I very much admire how he plays his hand.
  14. I remember talking about conference expansion in- what maybe January? Someone refresh me, how and why did this all start? What I remember was some comment made by the big10 that they may look at expanding their conference. Did this earthquake-like conference expansion start with Nebraska thinking about seeking out equality in another conference? Or was it just similar timing with B10/Pac 10 looking to increase its tv base and the Nebraska/Texas fued coming to a head?
  15. Thanx for the news! It's nice to see it on the national level
  16. I'm wondering about the legality of their superconferences. I wonder if a school like, Iowa State let's say, can file an antitrust lawsuit against the NCAA.
  17. I heard somewhere recently that they have a fan base of 60 million worldwide. Don't know where, but still
  18. While I am cautiously excited about the Big10, ND is in the driverseat. SO your saying that ND is going to let the conferences reallign and then choose which it wants to join? Maybe so but it's still a risk on their behalf to wait.
  19. Hold up- think about it, if Notre Dame chooses to join the big10, why would they add anymore? I hate ND as much as most, but they are the holy grail(pun intended) when it comes to fan base. Plus, would they want more teams added past themselves?
  20. I would like take a break from the drama for a moment and give thanks to the God above for starting the chain of events that allowed Dr. Tom to be the AD and the captain of the NU ship that is guiding us threw this mess. This is probably the most important decision NU has faced since, well I don't know, but in a very long time.

    Big Ten

it's just academic perception. Your degree may be more highly perceived if you don't advertise that you received before the expansion. If in fact we do join the big x then in five years no one will care or remember.

    Enough!

Finally back to the discussion. I guess I am uniformed as well RedNeck because I agree with most of your opinion, save for the not being interested in being a better perceived academic university.
