Bill Busch Named Special Teams Coordinator
Dogs In A Pile replied to seaofred92's topic in Husker Football
Didn't help much in the Iowa game either. Although in fairness, that one wasn't on the kicker since the blocking scheme was for our right footed rugby style kicker when we actually had our left footed conventional style kicker in the game and didn't block the left edge rusher. A perfect case study for our special teams ineptitude the last 4 years. -
Probably wants to get out of there ASAP too. Fan day this afternoon and 1st practice tomorrow.

Did he say why? Not up to speed on the playbook, pass catching, blocking etc.???

OLB Ashley Williams [Arizona State - Signed LOI]
Dogs In A Pile replied to Mavric's topic in 2023 Profiles
This all makes more sense of something I heard a couple of weeks ago but didn't quite understand. I was listening to the HuskerOnline podcast and during the mailbag segment somebody asked why the coaches had no online reaction to the latest commit. Callahan replied "Oh boy" then proceeded to dance around the question stating many of the coaches are away at this time of year on vacation. Then he ended by stating "There's something there I'll say" which basically told me something is going on but he isn't at liberty to say what. So either they didn't accept his commitment or if they did and found he was just using it as a placeholder and still looking around decided to cut him loose. -
** 2022 Previews: "Unofficial" Big Ten Media Pre-Season Poll **

On a positive note, we are playing the #6 & #7 picks from both divisions this year. -
Not when you're playing NW, North Dakota, Georgia Southern, Indiana & Rutgers. When I pick the season record I'm in the 5-7 area based on all we've seen the last 4 years. But when I look at those first 6 games I just can't get it out of my mind we should be 5-1 at worst or 6-0 if we are lucky.
-
I see this as a good thing. By Oct. 15 NU hopefully will be 5-1 (or 6-0 in my dreams) and before we get into the tougher part of the season.
-
I was referring to admo's mention of being in the top 25. For the record I don't see us being 8-4 or being in the top 25.
-
I'd be thrilled with 8-4 regardless. And being in the top 25 would be a cherry on top but far from being necessary. But I'd be happy with 6-6 and going to bowl too.

Big Ten Preseason Poll: Can Ohio State get back on top after misstep last year? -
Got to beat NW. That will put butts in the seats for the ND & Georgia Southern games. Assuming we can get by both of them that would be 3 wins a row which would be a new milestone for the SF era giving us some much needed momentum and a great atmosphere going into the OU game. And one can always hope for an upset. Lose to NW and the season could once again be ugly more than likely starting off 2-2. The stadium will be like morgue for the ND & Georgia So. games.
-
Coming off a 9-4 season, Aidan O’Connell being the #1 or #2 QB in the B1G and SF teams are 1-3 against them it's hard to pick NU.
-
I'd put us 4th or 5th behind Wis, Iowa, Purdue and/or Minn. Not great but still an improvement over 2021 and a result I could live with.

Can't argue with anything he says. -
Yeah, except for last year their class rankings have been pretty impressive especially considering the W-L loss record they have accumulated. And this class so far is even more impressive. Got to wonder if they can get things turned around and chalk up some 8+ win seasons how many more doors it will open on the recruiting trail.

2022 Season Opener to take place in Dublin, Ireland
Dogs In A Pile replied to knapplc's topic in Husker Football
Listening to Sean Callahan's interview with incoming freshman DB Jalil Martin (what a great sounding kid) on the Husker Online Podcast. He ask him about going Dublin and Jalil was extremely excited to be able to make the trip. Said he has never been out of the country as I'm guessing the majority of the kids haven't and really looking forward to it. I know a lot of fans are butt hurt about them opening in Dublin but it is fantastic opportunity for the kids and I'm I glad they get to experience it. It will be a trip they will remember the rest of their lives.
