  1. I have to agree and I've been a pretty critical of HCSF the last couple of years. Now if it translates into wins on the field remains to be seen but given where we were in Nov. when Frost was retained but the staff was let go this is about as good as I could have hoped for.
  2. Exactly. The thing is NU athletics is a business and when something like this happens that does potential harm to your brand it is up to the business to make adjustments to protect itself. It also wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility that this could have made its way into the the recruiting arena. And a great many of our recruits are the ones who would potentially be the most offended by it. For everybody that is so butt hurt by this move why not drop Trev a note and let him know what an egregious error he has committed in making this change. ad@huskers.com
  3. Good move. I wasn't even aware that this was a thing but I like the #1 sign better regardless.
  4. Looking at NU's last 6 HC hires, 3 had previous HC experience, 3 first time as HC. HC Experience Bill Callahan Mike Riley Scott Frost Fisrt Time as HC Tom Osborne Frank Solich Bo Pelini I know which group I'd take. An looking a little south, all these stiffs had no prior HC experience. I'd say they did just OK. Bud Wilkinson Chuck Fairbanks Barry Switzer Bob Stoops Lincoln Riley
  5. It will be interesting how this all shakes out. A lot of moving parts between the potential alliance and the CFP format.
  6. I think you would get pretty close to a unanimous agreement that Pederson & Eichorst were about as bad as it gets. I wouldn't put Moos in the category with those two but the more we learned about him it was clear he wasn't the one who would lead Husker athletics back to relevance.
  7. Good point. But we were losing in Omaha even before COVID hit. I guess my biggest problem is I grew up in an era where the vast majority of kids wanted to play in Lincoln and we held onto most of the talent. Sure we would lose one now and then but for the most part in state kids stayed in state. That has all changed now. I need to try to reset my expectations and realize we will still get some in state kids but a lot of best talent is going to be leaving for greener pastures.
  8. Yeah, I understand MJ coming back couldn't have happened. What I meant was the focus on recruiting in Omaha in general by the NU. It makes sick to see the top talent in the state leaving, especially considering the limited number of D1 players that the state is capable of producing in the first place.
  9. Glad to see we have somebody effectively recruiting Omaha again. We've lost way too much talent out of Omaha over the last few years to programs in neighboring states.
  10. It fits the product we've seen on the field the last 4 years, the 15-29 record and the rock bottom OL ratings for 2021. Having losing seasons 6 out of the last 7 years I'm not going out on a limb much saying NU does suck. I know some are OK with this. I'm not.
  11. Wish this could have happened a year or two ago but better late than never.
  12. Thompson didn't come here to spend his final year riding the pine. He will start against NW wherever the game ends up being played.
  13. I think 5 wins gets Frost another year, possibly 4 wins if one of those is OU or Mich. 5 wins is a 67% improvement over 3 wins and will be used to justify retaining him.
  14. Hopefully they there will be a competition between ALL the QB's and there isn't a predetermined starter already.
  15. Unless things change drastically on the OL whoever is our QB is going to struggle. Although AM had his faults he saved our bacon countless times with his escapability. Nebraska position review: Offensive line.
  16. Which is absolutely unbelievable if true. And hearing it from several people that would be in the know about it makes me tend to believe it is more than just rumor. In addition to his abysmal record that is just downright embarrassing coupled with the fact the program is at a point it hasn't been since Jennings was HC. That this type of dereliction of duty is allowed to take place on his watch is simply inexcusable.
  17. OK Lawrence. A couple of decades ago I'd agree. But now, not so much. But let's talk about those two chicks that will do a guy at once
  18. This kind of falls inline with what we have heard from others with close ties to the program. Unfathomable how this type of thing has been allowed to happen.
  19. I don't know about that. From the polls I've seen well over 50% were happy enough with 3-9 & 15-29 to want to retain HCSF. If we went 3-9 I'm betting that number might go down some but their will still be a sizeable percentage of the fan base that will want to stick with him.
  20. Recruiting. If the administration doesn't have enough faith in the head coach to extend his contract it is hard to convince a lot of recruits that he is going to be around through their time at the school.
  21. I agree with this. What I'm guessing is: 3-9 or worse - Probably gone. But I said the same thing about 2021 and was dead wrong. You never know. 4-8 - An improvement which a lot of supporters will make point of so he just needs more time. Not sure Trev will agree though. 5-7 - Huge improvement will be pointed to. I think this is the make or break level and he will probably get another year. 6-6 - Goes to a bowl and will automatically get another year(s). Program back to where it needs to be. 7-5 - Will be hailed as a great turn around and will probably get an extension. 8-4 or better - Extension and pay raise.
  22. You'd need Everclear served in 16 oz cups to take the edge off the last 5 seasons
  23. I voted sub .500 again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me 5 times, shame on me.
  24. I wish the kid all the best and have no animosity towards him but I think this is best for both parties.
