  1. Absolutely. Mainly because the way see it this is a make or break year and how they perform this year will most likely have major implications for the coming seasons. I don't have high expectations this will be a break-out year but have high hopes anyway.
  2. I have to think we'll never see another depth chart as long as SF is coach which is unfortunate since I always looked forward to seeing who made two deep.
  3. Great points. I know I'm not nearly as engaged as I used to be. You can only be beat down so much until you start to lose the fire. Eventually you end up with a program like Minnesota who was quite strong in the mid 20th century until things went to hell and then suffered through several decades of pathetic football until very recently. This is what makes this year so interesting to me. IMHO, this is the most important year for Husker football in my lifetime which goes back a long way. A strong season, like 8-4, could go a long way in re-energizing the fanbase and boosting recruiting. Another sub .500 year and I'm afraid of what could happen.
  4. With Mich, OSU & PSU being consecutive games. At least we have bye week after OSU before traveling to Happy Valley.
  5. I'd be pretty damned thrilled with 8-4 thinking that is the minimum needed to really get things turned around and salvage the downward trend we are seeing in recruiting after 3 disastrous seasons. But I think it will be extremely difficult to get to 8-4 given our schedule.
  6. I think this is 100% spot on. Just listen to "Big Red Over-Reaction" after a terrible loss or when a season is going really badly. The lines are full with people wanting vent their frustrations. Same for their weekday shows.
  7. Are we going to have the weekly contest in the Contest Crib this year?
  8. If anyone other than Scott Frost would have been at the helm for the last 3 3/4 years the faithful would be out in mass with pitchforks in hand demanding his removal. To this point in his career at NU he has been an unmitigated disaster. Abysmal 12-20 record, arrogantly spouting off which quickly came back to haunt him, throwing people under the bus/shifting the blame, trying to duck out of the Game of the Century 50th anniversary rematch, recruiting that has sunk to level I've never seen before and now these violation accusations. I think his leash just got shorter, a lot shorter.
  9. I read a comment that last month from a respected source to the effect that there was something brewing and if it came out it would be pretty major and damaging to the program. At the time I was unable to find out what that might be but I guessing this was what the source was referring to.
  10. So according to this, we should end up at 6-6 which sounds about right to me, maybe a tad optimistic.
  11. You two touch on my biggest concerns going into this season. QB & Special Teams. Both need to improve if they are going to be successful. I'd be happy if Martinez could just be a game manager and keep the turnovers to a reasonable level (ie not in the top 10 like he has been for his first 3 seasons). And the Special Teams need to see a dramatic improvement. Hard to see how they could be much worse but at least get to an average level of play. Take care of those two things and the season is looking up.
  12. I said last night before even knowing exactly what was involved that I hope it fails. Now knowing what's up, I REALLY, REALLY hope it falls flat on it's face. I as so done with even wasting time looking at this.
  13. I'm intrigued what this is going to be exactly. But I'm in on the hatred too. Even if this is good for the University and the B1G will hate it I hope it fails.
  14. I used to love his in depth analysis of the Huskers at the other board before he was banned. Looks like he has his new blog site up and running. https://herbieshangout.com/
  15. Maybe, but by the 1971 Game of the Century the uniforms had been modernized and weren't terribly different than the current uniforms. The older uni's with the NU and script style numbers date back to the 60's.
  16. After watching the abysmal performances against Ill & a COVID decimated Minn. team last year I don't see any of the games as "locks". Well, maybe Fordham, but I wouldn't look too far past them either.
  17. I'd be happy if he could stay out of the national top 10 in fumbles this year unlike each of his first 3 years.
  18. Moved up to #55 with the addition of another poll. Woo-hoo.
  19. 21 things you need to know. Husker Dan A Frosty Forecast I saw this on the other board and found it interesting. While I'm sure many will see it as being overly negative the 21 things he lays out are indeed facts or pretty much indisputable observations.
  20. I know a lot of fans hated the Trev hire and are already rooting for him to fail but I like what he had to say today. And I wonder about the back story behind this???
  21. Sure is nice to be sitting on the outside of all this watching it unfold instead of being in the middle of it as one of the players
  22. I always get a chuckle when I see the "revenge game" angle trotted out by the fans. Looking back at all the purported "revenge games" that have taken place since the the early 2000's almost all have ended up being huge disappointments and some unmitigated disasters
  23. Which is totally irrelevant to the Heisman. It's not a predictor of future accomplishments. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Crouch and am happy he won it. I'd take anything close to that level of play at this (low) point in Husker Football.
