  1. My bet is that Trev is having trouble getting anybody to say "yes". It will never be admitted, but I am guessing that the eventual coach will be nowhere near his, or anybody elses first choice.
  2. Can we at least agree, then, that both scenarios are a sham. Nothing but fake news in both scenarios based on your argument. We totally agree with each other! Thank you for supporting my case!
  3. Hmmmm, were you that homeschooled kid? We really don't care much about the 59 Rose Bowl. In fact, I really do not recall it being mentioned in the last 30 or 40 years. A more important streak to Iowa has been the past 7 seasons that the Hawks have beaten the Huskers. You lead the series 29-20, but most of your wins came before most players in all of college football were even born! Not dumping on history, just clarifying it! We will see you in the stands this Friday. Well, that is if you are a real fan!
  4. I am really confused. Do you think there were sellouts this year, or not? Did the Huskers create all of the sellouts this year? Are they lying about this being the first sold out season since 2011? No doubt there will be plenty of red at Kinnick this Friday. You are all over the place on this one! I do agree that the Hawkeye offense has been terrible, not just this year but last also. No doubt the defense and special teams has won most of the games. This is the year that the Huskers really have a chance to break a more important streak, beat Iowa for the first time in years (forget exactly how many). That streak is not a sham.
  5. Absolutely agree that your fan base has always supported the team through ticket sales, even in the past 20 years. That said, there have been MANY games that the crowd has begun to leave at halftime and the stadium is pretty empty at the end. No doubt you guys are great fans, hell maybe some of the best, but the sellout is a joke.
  6. Bragging about the "sellout" streak is a bit like the Nebraska guy that brags about an affair he had with his instructor. Pretty impressive until you find out that he was home schooled! Yes he got laid, but.............................. Get rid of the sham sellout curse so that you can get back on track of winning!
  7. The offense still is bad, but it is far better than the first meeting. The reason that they will not put up 54 again is simply because our offense will be on the field longer and each possession will not be a 3 and out.
  8. I do not think the D will give up 40, BUT, in order to win an offense needs to score points, which the Hawks have struggled with. I say Hawks lose 28-10 in the Championship game (assuming they make it).
  9. That's funny right there! Huskers claim to be the "greatest fans" but take a look at all of the pages of these boards over the past 20 years and you will see nothing but negative comments about the coaching, the AD's, the refs, the opposing fans, the opposing players, and even your OWN players. Some great fans. It is easy to be a great fan when you are steam rolling everybody in a fairly weak conference, year in and year out. It is easy to be a great fan when a staff looks the other way to allow criminals to play. It is easy to be a great fan and applaud the opposing team as the come off the field at Memorial Stadium after getting beat up for 4 quarters (remember those days?). Iowa has never had the success of the past Huskers, but we have also not been a dumpster fire like todays team. Yea, we also b!^@h and complain, BUT, at the same time do not claim to be the "greatest" fans. We will tailgate with the best in the country, fill our stands most every game (the fake sellout streak is another story!), and enjoy just making a bowl game to get someplace warm in the winter. Huskers do have a chance on Friday as the Iowa Offense sucks. The Husker offense sucks just a bit less. Our D and special teams will make the difference. See you on Friday! (assuming you are a great fan and will be at the game)
  10. True individual fans have not kept it alive. Boosters with deep pockets purchased the tickets that NOBODY ELSE WANTED. It is like the guy from Nebraska bragging about having a sexual affair with his teacher in high school just to find out that he was home schooled. Yes, technically he got laid, but...................................... If there was ever a chance to beat the Hawks, it will be next week. The Hawks have been lucky for the past 2 years. Hopefully the Husker players will look at it as their bowl game and come to Iowa City with an attitude. Low scoring, but it could be a dog fight!
  11. It may be bigger than just coaching. It could very well be the "Curse of the fake (or at the very least manufactured) sellout streak". Admit that real fans have not purchased tickets and that the sellout streak has officially ended. Get if off your chest and the positive mojo will propel the team forward. Continuing the lie will keep the curse alive. Next week may be the most boring game of the year in all of college football. I am betting on the Hawks 13 (2 field goals and a defensive touchdown) and Nebraska 10. Nebraska will lead through the middle of the 4th quarter.
  12. Ruhl may also be a good choice from a compensation angle. he is still owed about $0M over the next 4 years MINUS any other coaching compensation he receives from any other team. In a nutshell, he will make $40M over the next 4 years. Would if Trev got him under contract for 4 years for, say, $1M per year. That salary room would allow them to go out and get top notch assistants and pay them very, very well. In the Ruhl contract, a guaranteed extension would be in place if he hits certain metrics (like win/loss). Let the rich guy that owns the Jacksonville Jaguars help rebuild the team!
  13. It might be a big stretch for a small thinker like Stone Cold (even though you said so), but a strong Nebraska would be good for the conference, and a strong Big 10 is good for every school in the conference. Having a "patsy" in the conference does no team any good in the big picture. Sometimes a guy has to think beyond just themselves.
  14. Yes, we do, but checking in on yours makes ours look all better! Through the rough offenses of the past couple of years I cannot recall how many times I have heard "but at least we are not Nebraska". Frankly, I really hope that you climb out of the dumpster fire and MJ seems to be the best guy to do it.
  15. I think that Mickey Joseph could get the job done with HIS players, HIS coaching staff, and HIS playbook. He has been hobbled this year with all 3 against him. He took a hell of a career risk in accepting the interim job, but did so for the love of the school. Long term, he could be the answer. Yes, I know the same could be said for Frost, but MJ is eons beyond Frost when it comes to work ethic and overall ethics. He is also one of the best recruiters around, and Neb needs that right now. The downside may be that not hiring him you may lose him, and that would be a shame. That said, I am sure that a big enough check could keep him around. Hiring Matt Ruhl would be a disappointment and the program would be in for a rough time. He just not have the mojo.
  16. Learned that it was definitely NOT Adrian Martinez and this will not be the year to break the "no bowl streak". It is clear that the culture is horrible and the new coach will have his hands full. Get ready to write a HUGE check for the next coach. Joseph is not getting a fair shake, as he is working with a team that seems to be OK with losing. I hope that the next coach turns it around!
  17. If any perspective coaches are reading this, they will see that they will need to make a ton of money to put up with it! Mickey Joseph seems to be a stand up guy that jumped in a burning dumpster to help save his athletes and his school. I am betting that not only does Neb get a “meh” coach with an astronomical guaranteed salary , but you are running the risk of losing a great guy. Hell, we would love him over here! 18. In the eyes of virtually everybody in the country (especially those that know that donors have kept it on life support) the sellout streak ended a couple of years ago. That is not a bad thing, as maybe the program needs to really turn the page. Call the sellout streak done, quit littering the countryside with 60,000 red balloons, and hang up the black shirts until such a time down the road that they mean something. Putting a black Siri on most of todays defensive players is an insult to many of your past great players. With a new coaching staff, begin some new traditions that todays students and fans can really get ahold of and move forward with. Maybe time for some BIG changes. When Hayden Fry came to Iowa, he changed it all, including the logo. The Pittsburgh Steelers were winners, so he copied the jersies down the the size of the pinstripes. This was after lots of years of bad football during the Bob Cummings era. Don’t kid yourselves, there will be plenty of top tier coaches that would love the job. I am betting that a few years from now, the past 20 will be distant history. Trev is a standup guy and I would guess that there is plenty of administration and booster support.
  19. The only thing that would keep it from being a rivalry is the lopsided record over the past several years. I see it as a rivalry as both sets of fans pretty well dislike each other and dislike the other team. On Saturdays, besides hoping that their team wins, they always hope that the other team loses to whomever they are playing. The fact that some on here would like to see the Huskers ruin the hopes of the Hawks going to a bowl game adds more credence to it being a real rivalry. Hopefully the Huskers can hand a dew W's against the Hawks so that the game does not continue to be a bit of a "gimme". For the Huskers, they have nothing to lose this season and that makes the scary. They will play very emotionally, and those emotions will get them over the hump. No doubt you will have more wins this year without Frost, and one of those will probably be against Iowa. How much would it add to the Rivalry if Scott Frost came to Iowa as the OC?
  20. The Hawks dodged bullets all of last year giving a false sense of being a decent football team, while actually sucking pretty badly. I'd like to see Scott Frost come to Iowa City and be our new offensive coordinator. This is the year that the Huskers can take it out on the Hawks. The wins losses (in recent years) need to be more even to get a rivalry established.
  21. If there is anyway at all you could get Bob Stoops to Nebraska it would be a win. May be an equal coach to Urban, but 100 times better man.
  22. I don’t think that the “loser status” mentioned above will keep anybody from coming to Lincoln. The losers in the past have been the coaches, not the players or fans. Great coaches can lead programs and lead even mediocre talent to great seasons. I am betting that an coach would love to land in Lincoln. Think about it, IF you are successful, you can pretty much write your own check and live a great life in Lincoln. A winning coach would certainly be put on a pedestal. What risk would there really be in firing Frost at this point? It is just not his win/loss record, but his attitude and poor habits that will not change. He really had one great year of coaching at UCF which blinded many, but most now have clear vision and see him for what he is. As a rival, It was fun for quite a few years seeing the decline of Husker football, but those times are behind us and most are hoping that Nebraska becomes successful again. Boy, I am not sure that we are ready for Urban Meyer back in the Big 10 though!
  23. In order to save some money, how about hiring Brian Ferentz?
  24. A "win is a win" is bulls#!t. The second best team in N Dakota had a chance down to the end. A few late scores does not, in any way, indicate that they are anywhere close to the old Nebraska. A few bright spots but not many. I cannot see a route to anywhere close to greatness under Frost.
  25. Frost and crew need to keep in perspective that they beat the SECOND best team in North Dakota! A win is a win!
