  1. However it went down, he police on scene showed zero common sense and a complete lack of leadership. That much cannot be disputed. Why didn't one of them take charge and escort the crew to another location? The officers all looked like they didn't know what to do. I mean, Really? 100 cops in riot gear thumping their clubs staring down a news crew like they're staring down a clan of Hell's Angels armed to the gills. Meanwhile the city's burning in the background and who know's what else. Bad look for the cops no matter how you slice it.
  2. Interesting. Maybe he's just burned out with football. I feel for him, but at the same time it might be best to move on. As talented as he is, if you're not 100% in, then you're no good for the team. Maybe he just needed some time to figure stuff out. Whatever happens, I wish him the best.
  3. Why do cops in these situations frequently appear to be clueless robots? Is there anyone in uniform with a brain there? They look like a bunch of brainwashed stormtroopers. Look at all of them staring at the camera crew like they're just waiting to pounce. Good God. No wonder many don't trust the police.
  4. It will especially be a buzz kill if a few of the players or staff from those team outbreaks become seriously ill. What if a player or coach dies or becomes permanently disabled because of COVID? How will we feel then? Talk about a black eye for the sport. A preventable death caused by irresponsible behavior during a pandemic fueled by $$$$$. Let the lawsuits begin. I wonder if the conferences are anticipating this as sort of a "worst case scenario" and have been pooling a behind the scenes litigation "slush fund". It wouldn't be a bad idea. I know if I where a juror for an sport that I couldn't care less about (football fans aren't getting on those hypothetical juries) and it was presented how much $$ the NCAA, X Conference and Y University bring in annually and the victim got 0$ (ok a scholarship, but peanuts compared to the defendants), I'd be tempted to add a couple zero's to whatever the litigation amount was requested by the plaintiff. If nothing else, just to send a message. I know it's not fun to talk about this and other topics such as CTE, but it doesn't mean they go away. It's just another 900 lb gorilla in the room. Thoughts?
  5. Exactly. If you don’t want to be here then GTFO! It’s a privilege to play at Nebraska.
  6. I agree that once a precedent is started, other’s commonly follow suit. The problem I have is that considering how jam packed fans are in Memorial—especially the bench seating, I don’t see 1/2 capacity as much better from full capacity when it comes to appropriate distancing. Will distancing guidance be loosened by then? Maybe, but you’re still sitting within a foot or two from others.
  7. I agree on the margaritas. Got to consider everything right? All in all, though I think he’s been pretty solid. There will be some mistakes by any govenor, but I appreciate how focuses on NE’s specific situation rather than just going along with whatever the White House wants or what other states are doing.
  8. I’m not worried so much about Nebraska as I think Governor Ricketts has approached this pretty level headed so far. It’s SEC territory that I’m most concerned about. Mainly because of population and general political beliefs on the matter.
  9. And what options are there for us who have already paid in full for the tickets/donation? These are all great questions that I’m sure are being hashed out every day in the athletic department. Mr Moos is definitely going to earn his paycheck this season.
  10. If they end up playing, I think there’s going to be some fans, but more like 1/4 capacity maximum. Staff all over the place making sure people are adhering to whatever the prescribed precautions are at the time. Concession limitations, etc. But this is all a big IF at this point. If we as a country screw this whole reopening and relaxing thing up resulting in a curve that isn’t so flat anymore, then I’d say the likelihood of fans takes a nosedive. If hospitals begin to fill up with Covid patients then well...we all know by now what that means.
  11. Do you believe there should be 80,000 fans in attendance?
  12. This. Plus take defense more seriously. As in, it’s the most important of the three phases. Simply aiming to outscore opponents will never win us a BIG title and may not even win the division most years.
  13. It’s anyone’s guess at this point. Assuming there will even be games played, there undoubtedly will be restrictions and/or safeguards on fans.
  14. Yes. I’m pretty sure his doctor prescribed it after Trump said he wanted to be on it. or the White House doc could also provide it to him similarly to what is done with drug samples. More likely the case. I’m sure the presidential limousine didn’t stroll through a CVS drive through pharmacy.
  15. I’m no law expert, but I’m under the impression that governor imposed restrictions in the the setting of a pandemic or other emergency are within the law. Not saying I agree with everything being done. Just looking for clarification. Also, while are Constitution is a great thing, isn’t it true that none of it’s guarantees are “absolute”? Not trying to play devil’s advocate here, but the whole “my rights are being trampled upon “ argument in the current situation seems weak to me. Just my opinions.
  16. What about coaches, staff, officials, athletes with asthma, sleep apnea, etc.?
  17. I agree on Eastman. I actually voted for Bacon last time. I guess Eastman’s progressive ideas concerned me before, but now I’ve warmed up to them. Baseless Trump backing is an automatic No vote for me. Plus I don’t like Bacon’s stance on gun control.
  18. Exact Causes of death are frequently ambiguous especially if a post-mortem isn’t done. And I would imagine it generally isn’t done in high risk Covid related deaths. Ultimately the cause should only be determined by the attending physician and not administrators. Although I’m sure encouragement from up top occurs in some places. I’ve never heard of extra payment to a hospital solely depending on the cause of death. I do not, however work in the financial or utilization review departments.
  19. A physician acquaintance of mine, whose medical opinions I hold in very high regard, predicts there will be some sort of CFB season and there start will be delayed a month or two. Not only is he very intelligent, but he’s very conservative and too. So take that for what it’s worth. I figured I’d pass this opinion along since I’ve weighed in on this and have taken a more pessimistic view of the season chances. I still maintain that widespread reliable testing availability is the only way it happens though.
  20. Uhh. How do we know that. Just because he’s a gaffe machine.....hasn’t he been that way for awhile? I think his lifelong battle with stammering largely explains the gaffes. To you’re point though, I would think the VP pick would have an inside track if the administration goes well. Too early for AOC. As far as the GOP, I could see Rick Scott making a run.
  21. My original take was that Jason was referring to other’s who don’t necessarily have a stake in it other than just being a former player. In other words, not specifically CJ. It would be strange to call out the father of a recruit in that way. I guess I’m not convinced that’s who he meant. Who cares though. Winning will cure all.
  22. While your first point may be true, although we still don't know this because we can't test, the second part is very much false. Why do you think we've been able to "flatten" the curve thus far? Answer: The precautions in place.
  23. The atmosphere will get there again, but you do make a compelling argument. I continue to write the check, holding out for when we’re perennially competitive again. I miss those days when my Saturday revolves around “the game “. I think we’ll get there soon. HCSF is too competitive and prideful to let us continue to slide.
  24. I’m sorry that happened to a family member. It’s a terrible thing. I think all of Biden’s and Trump’s allegations should be equally investigated. But I’m not naive enough to think that would ever happen. At the end of the day on November 3, one is going to win. You can’t seem to convince yourself to feel good about voting Biden after 20 pages of back and forth when you stated that was your objective. So I’m just suggesting that you not vote or vote for Trump to make it easier on yourself. I’m confident there’s nothing anyone on HB can say to make you feel good about Biden and these allegations.
  25. Wouldn’t it be easier to just vote for Trump? Or just abstain. Why are you spending all this time posting on this subject? Just asking.
