  1. Does anyone think our QB coach is also part of the problem? I am just asking if anyone believes this.
  2. We are lucky N didn’t get called for interference on that I believe first down pass.
  3. I worry he will get banged up again like last season. Robinson.
  4. Osborne’s third undefeated NC team in 1997, which was his last year. Solich’s second season in 1999 where the Huskers lost only to Texas but defeated UT in the Big 12 championship game.
  5. I hear you. But like you, who would we get as a coach if Frost does’t turn it around in two or three years? Too bad the Callahan experiment failed. He and his assistant coaches were great recruiters but didn’t show much on the football field. He had one top-10 recruiting class and was on the verge of having another before his last season imploded. If he and his coaching staff could had coached as good as their recruiting, they could have had consistent top-10 recruiting classes or at least top 15. So I am not comparing apples to oranges, that was only three years after the Huskers went to the Rose Bowl. Thus when Callahan came, Nebraska was still consider an elite team who had a little bump in the road. With Frost, that was a long time ago when the Husker were elite. Thus many high school recruits today only see Nebraska as a mediocre team and don’t know about N’s glory years.
  6. All I know is if Frost again starts walk ons at WR, that doesn’t way much about our supposedly young talented receivers. Losing Spielman may bite us more than we think. Hope I am wrong. Let’s hope at least three of these receivers start showing something.
  7. Hail Varsity said they didn’t see any receivers, except for Robinson, that were impressive in this week’s practices.
  8. I remember in a different era, Nebraska had a running back who had surgery on both knees. What is amazing about this story is in 1969, medicine didn’t have many of the advances as of today. But Joe Orduna fully recovered on both his knees, and he was as good as ever in the Huskers first national Championship team of 1970. Frost thought Thompkins was as good as any RB in the country before he got injured. Thus it’s possible he can fully recovered and become an elite back.
  9. I missed the thread above. Might as well move this there.
  10. Go figure that two teams that supposedly recruit well on defense can’t defend with an average of four-star players. What gives? Bad defensive coaching?
  11. He could be the biggest TE talent since — fill in the blank — in 1990. The TE I am thinking of only played his freshman year I believe.
  12. He has said he grow up always wanting to play at Nebraska. However he also wanted to see what else is out there and wouldn’t rule out another school. But still it seems N still has the advantage.
  13. Hopefully when he is allowed to visit, he is blown away. He hasn’t been to Nebraska yet, so the battle for him continues. But, yes, it’s better he is committed than not.
  14. I think all schools’ commitments, specifically those who haven’t visited that school, are on shaky grounds. So I don’t think we are out of it yet with this lockdown. Hopefully a couple of those top Iowa prospects, who have visited N, pull the trigger — I would think they would be more solid commitments versus those near future commitments who haven’t visited.
  15. It’s questionable on how many recent commitments are solid when they have been unable to visit other schools. Thus, if recruiting is opened up again, it wouldn’t surprise me that our coaches start recruiting him again and maybe get a visit. This is not normal times. You have to think we are not out of it. I would be concerned about decommitments happening from prospects who commit to Nebraska right now for the same reason.
  16. We seemed to have successfully invaded Miami of late. Keep it going.
  17. I wish the kid the best. He has suffered from mental illness and depression for the last 6-7 years and wants to be closer to home.
  18. This article indicates we are clearly among his favorite schools. That doesn’t necessarily mean we would beat Iowa for him, but as of right now we are in the running. However, there is no mention of Wisconsin in this article. While it’s expected that we will lose some Iowa prospects to IA, I hate losing recruiting battles to Wisconsin. https://www.omaha.com/sports/college/huskers/plus/huskers-went-years-without-success-recruiting-iowa-but-that-s/article_5ad33174-6803-54ad-af45-547b1db184d3.html?utm_source=WhatCountsEmail&utm_medium=NEWS - Big Red Today HeadlinesActive Big Red Today&utm_campaign=_Big Red Today - Daily headlines
  19. I hope Pickering is healthy next season and one of those walk-ons show something. Did Frost ever say what Pickering’s injury is? The reason I brought this up is I never have remembered seeing our kicking game being this bad. Perhaps a decent FG kicker would have won us two more games.
  20. I rather NU get a good FG kicker, unless we have a good walk-on prospect.
  21. Absolutely devastating. According to CBS Sports, he was hit by a freight train.
  22. Sorry I meant to say depleted not deleted.
  23. Nebraska may need them right away. Washington may not come back. It was hard to get a good read on Johnson who didn’t show anything great but that could be from being inexperienced. After Thompkins knee injuries we don’t know if he will be 100 percent. That leaves Mills who appears to be a solid but not a great back, but Ozibo wasn’t either until his senior season. Thus, it’s possible with winter conditioning we may see a better Mills. Plus Robinson may get beat up again by carrying the ball as much as he did last season. So what appears to be a position of good depth could get depleted. I’m glad we got both of them.
