Most football people define pro style to mean a bill Walsh inspired primarily one back limited running game with inside zone, outside zone and possibly a run featuring an adjuster h back wham blocked running play uses a variety of formations but likes to get to a 1 back, adjuster h back and a tight end play action passing game quarterback that hands off and is not used as runner designed or otherwise lots of straight drop back passing from both under center and shotgun likes to create mismatches and create constraints with tight ends or big athletic h backs that can either create an additional run gap, motion, reset or threaten the deep middle zone in unfavorable matchups passing concepts that attack all portions of the field

Look for one of the FR Wideouts other than Robinson to break the 2 deep or maybe even Miles Jones Im not sold on anyone returning past Spielman With the 4 game redshirt rule in place Im thinking the following FR ( and JUCO) will see playing time- maybe even crack the 2 deep Mills and W Robinson will definitely be in 2 deep then: Ty Robinson Henrich (assuming he returns well from injury) Nelson Benhardt While RBs and WRs have traditionally been the positions easiest for Freshman to play and Im saying Robinson will for sure play and another WR will crack the 2 deep- LBs typically dont play as FR- but both these kids are special and we are pretty light there

Miles is a good guy hes upbeat and quirky he has recruited better than any coach in recent memory he embraces the fans and the place is full lets part ways in a classy way nu has been a graveyard for coaches have no clue who we get or how to turn It around beating up on a guy who has worked hard and embraced the fans in a historically poor program doesn’t help anyone Wasnt like he he took over a team that consistently won 20 plus games

Great article Yes, Frosts scheme and playcalling will make the Oline look better than they are When NU is in 11 personnel and getting 6 man boxes they can run the ball well- just like the stats say Because of: Backside action away from the play Playside RPO concepts The ability to run to both sides of the field thanks to a QB with legs or the threat thereof RBs that can split out as receivers or catch the ball out of the backfield- so Defenses have a tougher time platooning into run Defense packages LOTS of key breaking stuff- pulling guards and running away from the pull for a negative yardage or HUGE gain to take defenses off their keys

I forgot how horrific the officiating was in this game- Texas was holding Suh and our other Defensive Lineman at simply grotesque levels. Not legal holding inside the frame, outside the frame and tackling below the waist. The 3:50 mark see Suh being tackled- same on the last scrimmage play. Im not one for conspiracy theories and all that nonsense, but I would be interested to see how the penalties were dished out that game.

That's true- the difference is- Bo was being paid right about market rate for his level of coaching- IAA HC IMO Bos a different cat, he isnt in it to be rich, he does it because he loves it and he wants to be in a place he and his family can feel comfortable. Youngstown is where he's from, hes got a lot of pride growing up there. Hes got lots of friends and family there AND he got paid well and market rates to coach there. Im guessing he never has to work again if he chose not to. Riley OTOH is a completely different story. He was the LOWEST paid coach in DI by nearly $40,000 and for the role he was playing in the PAC 10 he was underpaid by over $300,0000- was NOT being paid market rates. So NU doesnt have any ground to stand on with Bo- it has plenty of ground to stand on when it comes to Smilin Mike. At the end of the day, neither were near the standard we expect for NU coaches. One because he was incompetent and lazy, the other because he couldnt get NU to the level we expect, turned on the fans, couldnt work and play well with others and didnt represent the University well. Im not a big fan of either- but one was lazy and purposely screwed NU over when it came to his next coaching contract, the other didnt. So Im not tossing rocks at Bo, Smilin Mike- yes. NU chose not to sue Smilin Mike to avoid any bad pub, Mike knew that, so he purposely negotiated a $50,000 contract that cheated NU out of about $300,000 a year- which was the salary he should have been getting there.

If Nebraska didn’t sue mike Riley for his sham of 50 k salary at Oregon state they aren’t suing bo pelini. Riley had lowest salary in d1 when I asked moos about this on a radio show he said that they had budgeted for Riley making no money to defer the number we owed him and that it was “taken care of” nu has decided that they are just going to eat these things to avoid any bad publicity pelinis salary is in pretty much in line with others in his role rileys was not at all I’m sure both were trying to stick it to nu but Riley’s was far more egregious

Im a Benning fan, he does know the intricacies of the game and as an ex player- has a great perspective others just cant have. He is outstanding calling the State High School football championships. You can tell he does his homework while others struggle and make lots of mistakes and then lazy generic calls of " a run up the middle", when Damon breaks down the play, inside zone, power, Iso, trap, wham etc and what made the play work. He will predict what a coach will do next and is usually correct. Can go off on tangents at times- but pretty good to listen to most mornings Bahe is funny, likes basketball too much, but is more introspective than most give him credit for, I like him. USC- they try too hard to be funny and edgy- get off on too many tangents and seem to smugly talk down to the audience at times. Cant listen to it.

The fans who are actually buying season tickets and going to the games/ I don’t hear that at all from them they really appreciate the hard work and effort from this crew compared to the joke of an “effort” put in by the previous coaching staff i think most reasonable fans understand what a horrific a job Reilly did to put us in a place so low a place we haven’t been since 1961 over 57 years ago no teasonable person expects a miracle right away heck frost improved our scoring margin by 113 points in year 1 with a much harder schedule even the most surface lavel fan could see the big improvement in this team over the Riley teams and improvement from beginning of season to end
