  1. Blast from the past (just an aside here in all the serious ruckus about SF's woes): https://keepbopelini.blogspot.com/?fbclid=IwAR3CKlaVwnQyAqxIGKN-H_oebm1xaAEvkKLxCmdM7N44ryjDDAyjPTdHt_o
  2. Reality can be funny and sad at the same time. Then along comes hope. (rummaging through sensibilities... I know it's in here somewhere....)
  3. Bought and paid for star player? Nah. Perish the thought.
  4. "This season has been an implosion. I didn't see it coming at all." Those of us who worried about that and expressed that worry were seen as some sort of non-Real Husker fans. I am no NO expert on any football, and not on Husker football. But I have gotten aware of a culture change here at Nebraska. It's a true culture of finding a way to lose most games. It's a flip-flop of what it should be which is of course finding a way to win most games. The criticisms of Frost should start at him not seeing that and saying it and reacting to it successfully.
  5. That spells leadership issues, to some. Me included. It also spells the "losing culture" meme I'm suspecting (in the long run). I feel that Frost can't sense that stuff yet. What I do like is what he did at UCF under those conditions. It seems that it should be happening here. It ain't. I wanna say, "yet." It ain't yet. Or..it just ain't.
  6. My opinion is that the head coach has to recognize that it's not just about "execution" and "being on-board," etc. Nebraska football is now infected with a culture of losing. It's like a meme.. perhaps it is a meme. A silent one. No matter the effort in practice and even on the field, the background feeling out there now is "I hope we don't lose" It's supposed to be "We've got this. We've f#&%ing got this!" For all practices and for four quarters of football. What makes my hopes rise is what happened at UCF. Frost did cause the program to unravel the losing culture and ignite a winning one, in spite of a mediocre DC. Again, just my opinion. As I think about all of the possibilities and remedies for whatever the problem is, I keep coming back to that culture change thing, the nuts and bolts be damned (recruiting, the play book, execution, buying into the coaches' plans, etc). A culture of defeat. It's like wallpaper, in the background. But there.
  7. This thread has been a good read for me. I like seeing the title now; it's not as jokey as it seemed at first. It now has a twinge of "stranger things have happened" to it. Even a "we can do it if we put together a complete game" fantasy. And the game is still well over a week away. Damn, sometimes being a Husker fan makes a person crazy. Damn I'm going there with my wife and daughter after an hour or so in the Zoo Bar. And damn I'm going to think about this thread title and damn I'm wanting that f#&%ing win. Damn! Do it, guys! Give us something special this year. Win this.. damn "impossible" game! Thanks for the thread. Sorry.. .. carry on....
  8. There most certainly does need to be a firing here. Thanks for bringing up Saban. I like to see him mentioned because I think he's the type of mind, coaching mind, that has a perspective of "machinery" wrt the program/team, no matter what he says in front of a microphone and camera. And he knows and is intimate with every aspect of the machine.. not only QB and passing game: the O-line, the WRs, the D all around, he talks about all of them. He does refer to film now and then, but take a look at what he's doing when the D is on the field; he's with them.. he seems to make eye contact with every one of his players and coordinators. What's with Scott Frost and his responses to queries about the dismal "blackshirts" performance? "I wasn't watching, I'll have to look at film."' or.. "That's Chinander's area. I'll have to talk to him about that." Hello. Your D coordinator is failing. We score enough to win. But he allows the other team to score more than us. Hello.
  9. No. He's not posting in here. He's just out there losing games for Nebraska.
  10. No. I am referring to here. I've been involved with the internet since it began. But I am learning that this site is a lot like many others, though, with spelling nazis, immature little wannabe bullies, drunks, people with very poor reading comprehension, etc. So, yeah, I'll give you that.
  11. Aww... I finally met the Board Spelling (and likely Grammar) Nazi. How cute. I'm new here, I didn't know there was one of you around.. love the misspelling of offense by you, there in your post to me. Very klever.
  12. Wow. They watched UCF film and beat us with it. Wow. (bookend Wows )
  13. I do get your point and well said. But () ... Lots of expensive wrong guys for about 20 years now.
  14. I feel that way, after reading about the younger players, etc. But.. I'm worried about the coaching staff, especially the D. I don't think the problems are 100% about the players "not executing," etc as Frost keeps saying (although at times he's referred us to his own failings in a game). If I were forced to put a percentage of "fault" or "blame" for the losses on players vs coaches it'd have to be 90% coaches and 10 % players because I think good coaches know how to get performance out of less than great talent and also how to recognize and exploit the talents that are there. Frost may grow into that, but Chinander? IDK.
  15. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This. For god's sake, this.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ "UCF had to score 50 points or more to be their toughest competition in most games. " And Frost brought that crew up here and guess what we see: Husker football incapable of scoring enough to cover what our Chinander-run defense gives up.
  16. Anyway, it is possible for a great coaching crew (and Frost and his crew have been together for a while) to take a ragtag group of players and game by game work out ways to win most of those games. It's been done by great coaches for decades on end. Frost is proving he's not in that category of coaches. Not even close.
  17. lmao .. I'm having breakfast. Anyway, what the hell are you on about now? You may be staring at trees. Back up, there's a forest! The forest is: Jennings/Frost suck at coaching Husker football. Devaney/(a good coach) didn't/don't/won't. Very simple. Climb down from the tree, back up, look at the pretty forest.
  18. Jennings/Frost suck with the same players Devaney/(A good coach now) could/would succeed with. I don't now how else to spell it out to you. Get rid of Frost? mmm... maybe.. I don't know. Perhaps he will grow into the job. I doubt it. But others don't doubt it.
  19. Again, you are making my point. Perhaps you should re-read my post you quoted and responded to. It says just what you said in fewer words.
  20. You're using your opinion of my take on Husker history to defend Scott Frost? You're making my point. Thank you. Jennings could not exploit the talent on the team, so Devaney did.
  21. I noticed that Sipple used Riley's "hip hip hooray" as a point of sarcasm in his article about yesterday's game. He did not mention Riley's name. Being the classy guy Sipple is. My wife mentioned Bill Jennings and his .240 record with the Huskers, followed right away by Devaney's .812 record beginning with many of Jennings' same players. Scott Frost and crew may be in over their heads.
  22. Losing at home to Indiana felt similar to me. And this morning, reading the players' and Frost's remarks.. sad; in so many words it all added up to, "Some day we're going to win a game."
  23. What if I get into Stewie Griffin's time machine and marry Sophia Loren? Stuff like that.
  24. You think so? (eye roll).. being sarcastic, I'm with you. To say the least. But expressing that here at our watch party got me booed: "What the hell is so good about Scott Frost's attention anyway?" To that effect. I don't know. Hell I admit I don't know what's going on now after all these years of failed good coaches. I confess to being high on Frost when I heard about the hire. Speaking of failed coaches it seems like they're getting worse. But that's a different thread.
