  1. He can't succeed in certain plays.. but he's also held back by some very naive play calling from the sideline. Unbelievable, some of it.
  2. Our D gets burned on this play and any other that might cause them to think past a second or two. Not much in the way of creativity on the part of Chinander.
  3. Adrian Martinez maybe should have gone out for track instead of football. If he's got a large opening he can often get a head of steam and go down field. But he's no Vince Young or Eric Crouch or Tommy Frazier; he can't be creative much on his attempts against tacklers.
  4. Yeah.. it was just an aside.. don't want to hijack this thread so I'll drop it. I do remember mulling what would have happened here if he'd have stayed.. I'll drop it now.
  5. Short search yields not much at all about the claimed drugged drink. Did find this, though: https://www.espn.com/college-football/news/story?id=2240823
  6. Side note: Reading the (short but excellent) interview of somebody in Iowa's press staff yesterday I noticed that he inserted a bit of phraseology about disrupting the Husker offense and "causing them to make mistakes." I envisioned forced fumbles and the like. Lack of ball security is a game loser, as are interceptions, of course. Yes it made me worry. It also looked like good chalk board material. I began to see his remarks as a threat, and yeah that's classic chalk board stuff for the "threatened" team.
  7. His defense was that he'd been "roofied" in the tavern where he was drinking. My respect for him upon seeing that was replaced by pity. The happy ending is that he seems to have sobered up. Good for him.
  8. I'd love to see: Nebraska 28 Idiots Out Wandering Around 24 Our rushing 212 Our passing 288
  9. If we were doing better, as we used to many moons ago, we'd "care about them" in the same way we care about the hamburger we're eating before the game. We'd wait for it to get here in front of us. We'd consume it. And we'd go on about our week afterwards. *burp* But we're not doing so well.. we're one of the worst football programs in the Big Ten and in the Div 1 of the NCAA. So now many of us care a lot about Iowa; this rivalry talk is springing from anxiety, not from any sort of important feeling like we had with Oklahoma or Missouri.. or Colorado. Especially Oklahoma. With Iowa it's about a fairly good team coming here and reminding us how crappy our team is and has been for a long time now. That's about it as to the Nebraska/Iowa "rivalry," as far as I can see.
  10. Well, I understand the spirit of your question, but I think it could also be asked: What do you think Scott Frost thinks about Frank Solich and Bo Pelini. Frost is a lot of things, including a fairly consistent word master when it comes to talking about other people. He's slipped up here and there, but his m.o. seems to be a bit of a politician when it comes to what he says. I'm guessing that his thinking is a lot more complementary of Pelini than Solich because Bo seemed to energize on toughness, crass as he could be about it. Solich uncorked a good second career at Ohio, but as said before, that's a program in a conference that elite coaches grow then move on to first tier schools/conference. Which brings us to Frost's credentials. But that's a different thread.
  11. They buy lobsters by the ton in Ames. They think they're exotic creatures. They revere, even worship them there.
  12. Be sure to be nice to them at the stadium and around town, so they can write letters to the Journal Star talking about Nebraska's "welcoming, warm, and respectful fans."
  13. The past several years have been a real problem for anyone trying to predict the outcome of Nebraska games, no matter who's favored. But, although we blew out another struggling team at their house.. nope. Iowa is very likely just too much for us at this point.
