  1. All of these what did we learn threads after all of these losses has made us learn something about how we find ways to lose. Our first loss this season was delivered to us by a team which has not won since. Smacks of a losing culture that needs expert analysis, followed by precision mission oriented guidance by those doing that analysis. Is it realistic to expect that from Coach Joseph? If not, who? Honestly, can it be done here?
  2. Another loss (lead squandered) and here we go again on whether MJ deserves to be HC, or at least be given '23 season to recruit and build his staff etc. I want to say yes, but that is becoming harder to do as we see signs of lack of player fundamentals and stamina, both of which are coaching issues most often.
  3. Our players lack the stamina of Huskers of the past. D and O. They get beaten down man to man on most plays as the game wears on.
  4. Plus.. well, heck.. thinking like a strong prospect for the HC job for 99 Trillion Dollars at Nebraska with a 10 Trillion Dollar buyout etc... do I want to vacate one of my staff positions for the interim at Nebraska? .. Do I negotiate that? Or just try to live with it?
  5. Yeah. I agree. But I do have an additional thought, that a deeply broken program can be fixed with great recruiting and chemistry between that new HC, his staff and the players, and that can be done by a coach who has never had to rebuild a program but by one who has it in him to do so. <----- That's very hard to detect in a search process, and that's why the HC with that building experience is so attractive. A sort of instant gratification for the fan base would be that guy with the experience, but the newer perhaps younger guy could do it just from the hunger of wanting to along with his own talent. That says Mickey Joseph to some. I'm not so sure about that but I'd be willing to give him 2023 season to do his thing. I think. He's probably going to be on the new coach's staff anyway.
  6. That's cool (and credible) to have access to insiders on some of these possibilities. Anyway, I'm reacting to this article from yesterday: https://larrybrownsports.com/college-football/nebraska-considering-big-12-gary-patterson-matt-rhule/606646
  7. In that Brown article he is listed as having been vetted. It makes me wonder if there is a difference between what he’s putting out there vs what he’s planning or at least willing to do with his career. Would our searchers waste time on investigating a guy who has no interest at all in this job?
  8. Of the three listed by Larry Brown as vetted and "strongly being considered," Gary Patterson of TCU, Matt Rhule, and Army's Jeff Monken, I'd say Gary Patterson's 181–79 record stands out as worthy of here. Rhule's NCAA record of 47-43 makes us look at factors other than that alone, and he had a losing record in the NFL. I'm sure he's a fine coach, but.. Patterson stands out, in that little group anyway.
  9. Yipe I got things mixed up in my post about the problems at Baylor. I put Rhule where Briles et all should be... apologies. I'll not even bother to try to defend my post to those who quoted it.. no excuses.
  10. WRT Rhule's possibilities here, I'd be wondering every week if the sexual assault allegations (characterized as being "a portion of Baylor culture, apparently" by some) would rear it's head and be a distraction (for him and for some fans.. a lot of fans?).
  11. Which time? Oh, the last time. And other times.
  12. Well, that generation thing has always made me think of what I see when I look down the rows in front of me, over my shoulder at those further up, to my left and right, across the field to the other side, and year in and year out through the decades and I see at least three different generations of humans in that stadium every game day, sometimes four, and yes sometimes five (yes, toddler Husker fans, we see you and your parents or grandparents strangling.. I mean dealing with you). Kidding aside my point is that all age groups are there in droves and it's been that way since the crowds stopped being all males wearing straw hats and all of the photos and film of them were in monochrome. Now there are fans in the student section with bottles of Schnapps in their back pockets and paint on their faces who were just a glint in their daddies eye when we were last relevant. Their behavior? Well, we're pretty close to that section and the only changes I've noticed is the language and the "music" they listen to, otherwise it's the same loud, funny, farty, girl-grabby, drunky, cussy guys and gals we've always seen (hairdos notwithstanding). That's just one generation and that's their "normal." The rest in the Stadium.. I wonder about and I hope it's just about what knappic said up there regarding the product on the field. I hope it's not deeper than that.
  13. It's not the same. The losses and the whole downturn in the program have very gradually taken their toll. We've been going since the late 60s and have seen many ups and downs, but this down looks like a long term trend which began not that long ago come to think of it. Heck I never did like the whole "make noise!" thing in blinking lights as if we have to be told.. but now when I see that it looks like a futile effort to get more people involved. Not the Nebraska Husker Football Stadium Experience of the late 80s and through the 90s and early 2000s. I wonder if it can come back to that.

  15. lmao yep, as soon as we give TA some sunshine we'll always hear about the Scott Foster Brooks Frost hire. .. oh well....
  16. I like what Cole Stukenholtz said in his article about why MJ very likely will not be the hire: "Trev Alberts doesn’t do passionate; he does pros-and-cons lists, thoughtful consideration, detailed evaluations and calculated action." I wanted MJ to get the job, but I'm seeing that he's not up to it. That sentiment keeps getting the "he's doing the best with what he's got" response. I agree with that response in part, but not to the extent that he should be excused for his (mounting) losses.
  17. Yipe. .. well, no QB. Good luck to us. Crappy weather won't help either, as the Rodents are from a crappy weather place of their own.
  18. Many have become doubtful of Nike's academic standards after that Coach K tweet thingy: "You can't spell 'championship' without K" I think it said or some such (Krzyzewski bristled but smiled for the money..er, cameras).
  19. In addition to the myriad insights put forth in this thread, we've also learned that the weekly prayer thread has been having little to no positive effect on the upcoming game for quite some time now.
