  1. Umm.. next time do a copy-paste thingy from one of those lorem ipsum generator sites; it'll save you some time and make just as much sense. Follow me for more forum posting life hacks.
  2. Looking around the forums elsewhere I do see one post: 6 and 6 would be great. Hey, I know these things. Another scotch, please.. and NO ICE. ~ WoodRiverHeroJustAskMe
  3. The "..it was Frost at Nebraska.." carries the weight of a few of his failed predecessors here, so seems to make sense. Indeed, the weight of our collective disappointment is equal to the weight of our ramped up hopes as his hiring unfolded to change that course. For him to live up to that seemed natural to us. We were mistaken.
  4. Coaches and players have an opportunity to prove that the 4th quarter of the N. Dakota game was not a fluke. They will not, of course do that. But we could win in a sort of stuttery way off and on throughout the game. We need defense to shine and it doesn't very often at all and we cannot sack quarterbacks and we often have trouble with open field tackles. Hard to watch. We'll win, I guess. I'm too old to stay awake watching it on TV so I'm going to the game where I'll more likely not fall asleep in the 3rd quarter or so.
  5. Nice list, but would you mind not spreading that Hugh Freeze name around? Too close to the frost meme.
  6. Yeppers. It appears that the images I'm wanting to post are copyright protected at that site and protected by disallowing that right click ability. I don't want to mess with that out of respect for the artists and the site's (assumed) reasoning. I suppose I could "view source" and find the image and fanagul a way to do it.. but I'll move to other sites that don't have those restrictions.
  7. That's an interesting last paragraph (of yours) there. It seems to contradict most of the rest of your critique of Farrell's blog post and to make some of his points well. I think Farrell was doing a pretty good job of summarizing Frost's failures, over his entire tenure here, by superimposing the Northwestern game over his analysis. A bit more than a dozen wins over several dozen games over several years showcases commonalities.. and yep, there it all was in that game in Dublin. But it's the attachment to Chinander that makes me the most angry about it all; two good friends wrecking the Huskers and fancying coming close to winning as "improvement" over several seasons of practices and on-field failings. Farrell only brushed against that and did not talk about it enough, imo.
  8. Yeah I lived down in a tiny little town near Round Rock called Hutto years and years ago. Wonder if it's still the same. First weekend there a guy on a tractor pulled up to my house while I was mowing and asked if I wanted him to plow up part of my back yard "fer yer garden and wotever" as my property bordered a huge planting area of dozens of acres. I said yeah and he did that and disappeared over the horizon and was put off the following week when I offered him money. So... anyway yeah to that list of yours there but I could not stand the economy there at that time and headed back up here to 'brasky where it seems to weather nation wide economic bad times pretty well. That and four real seasons.
  9. I'm having trouble embedding pictures from a web page into a post here (in the Political Cartoons section). They come out as a link to the picture instead of showing the picture as others here are doing in their posts. I tried using the "link" button and also tried not using it, and tried copying the picture directly. Only thing I have not tried is downloading the cartoon pic to my hard drive then uploading it to here; is that necessary? I'd rather not do that. Any instruk sheeonies would be appreciated.
  10. Durn.. can't figure out how to make links into embedded images on the post/page. They just show up as a link.

  13. This was lifted from Mike Farrell’s blog entry the other day, about his take on the reasons SF is failing as HC of Nebraska: Tight coaching — Frost was never overly aggressive and that was a knock against him from the start. Now let’s clarify — aggression is not an onsides kick up 28-17 with all the momentum on his side like we saw against Northwestern. Aggression is playing to win and he just didn’t do that — to the point where opposing coaches knew it. Everyone bragged about how close Nebraska was in their 9 losses last season but the overlook that it seemed like a team trying to stay close rather than actually win games. This is a rut Frost got into early in his tenure and he overcompensated this past weekend with a foolish decision. I call this right coaching and Pat Fitzgerald read him like a book. And others have before him. Loyalty — Nebraska is about loyalty. Trev Alberts was loyal to Frost and has given him another season despite his failures. And Frost has been too loyal to defensive coordinator Erik Chinander. Chinander worked with Frost at UCF and followed him to Nebraska and has been his coordinator for every game. The defense hasn’t been the main problem according to fans, but it hasn’t helped a lot either. Giving up 31 points to a hapless Northwestern offense and making Ryan Hilinski look like Tom Brady at times is the latest example. When Frost was brought back the Blackshirts were supposed to be back with him but the defense has been average. The pass rush has lacked, tackling hasn’t been great and they’ve given up just enough points to average teams to be a failure. While Frost has changed the offense to his dismay, he hasn’t had the guts to make a change on defense. Chinander hasn’t done a horrible job, but a change was probably needed in the off-season. Physical play — When Tom Osborne was winning with players like Frost there was one thing Nebraska fans could count on. Their team was going to be tougher and more physical than the other team. And it was never in question. Now? Northwestern bullied the Huskers around the field last weekend and this has been a pattern since the beginning of the Frost era. This team has to be physical to compete because they will be outmatched in speed in many matchups. And it’s clear that Frost has been hearing this over and over again as his dumb “15-20 vomits per practice” statement showed. This team could honestly be labeled as soft compared to the Big Ten under Frost. Adrian Martinez — Martinez is the poster child for the offensive issues for Nebraska but more importantly he shows a lack of player development. Martinez showed promise as a true freshman and Frost’s reputation as an offensive genius and QB developer was intact. Since then? Martinez regressed, Frost has replaced coordinators a couple of times and his reputation as an offensive genius is now fodder for social media trolls. Name an offensive player who truly improved under Frost? Wan’Dale Robinson and a few others are examples of talent who just weren’t utilized properly. Media stupidity — This doesn’t really lose you games on the field but let’s face it, Frost has been awful in front of cameras since he arrived. And how does this impact a program? It leads to a general perception and opinion of buffoonery on a national stage which can bleed into the confidence of your players on the field. Outsiders respect the Kirk Ferentz and Paul Chryst types of the world who are deadpan but very calculated and smart about what they say and they love the rah-rah guys like PJ Fleck because of their enthusiasm. Frost is neither smart or enthusiastic and that’s become the narrative for Nebraska football. Dang that's pretty long. Oh well, maybe someone will get something out of it.
  14. Hmm. If that were it, and just it as "the biggest issue," it seems fixable.. without having to carve up SF's contract etc. I think it's quite evident that there are myriad issues on all squads, although ST shows some good improvement. Mavric's "the results aren't good enough so there need to be some significant changes moving forward" is obviously what's up 'tween The Powers That Be and SF. And that's why I posted the absurdity of SF's play calling convo with them; that is a locker room exchange, not a meeting with the AD etc.
  15. Must have been an interesting meeting. Probably had some film trotted out to show how crappy a play caller Scott is. Probably had stats. If not either of those, it was just, "..yer a crappy play caller. Stop calling plays. You can't go back. It's the new OC's job, not yours. You can't go back to calling plays at any time until we say you can, and that's unlikely to happen because, as mentioned, yer a crappy play caller."
  16. Me either. But we can surmise a bit about SF doing so well in generally a weaker conference and not so well (left-handed compliment) in the Big Ten.
  17. Oh, I don't know. 2017? 2002? Honestly this may be the worst coached team.. and that's a maybe after Riley. But I know the gist of that "worst" feeling, but not quite that extreme; the signs of life they show, such as the 4th quarter of this last game, and maybe even the first possession in the first quarter, tell me that the horses are there (not top ones, but damned good and they can be fired up) and that the OU game will fire them up. Yes Frost and some of that coaching staff seem to be disjointed or something of that nature. But truth be told they can do some special things that should be done every game in every quarter, but they don't. The only case I can make for a good OU game is how special it is to us and to Frost as well. Perhaps everything will be at its best: OU 34 - NU 38.
  18. I'm not convinced that the Sooners will beat us. No matter the outcomes of any other games. NU/OU is a different deal no matter where it's played or at what point in the season and no matter how the rest of the season went.
  19. Lemme check my notes............... yep, comedy.
  20. Which everybody on Earth knows, his mother fired him out of her there, then promptly moved to Norfolk, Ne. He was in a hurry to get out of there, though, too, before they started shamelessly calling it Norfork.
  21. Very stringent drug testing these days.
  22. I think most Nebraska fans are in reality about our team. My gosh it's been decades since "the Nebraska of old." Read around in here. BUT, as I say, we're worse than most fans in the country as to our expectations. There are some in the Big Ten like Ohio State and Michigan with perennial high expectations, but Nebraska has nothing else but this college football team, so it's all on the coaches to give Nebraska something to be proud of. Of course, when ever you say that to a Nebraskan they'll bring up the sand hill cranes or chimney rock or some such. Or Johnny Carson.
  23. I'm hoping our new guys (players and coaches) learned that 4th quarter great play is not truly "finishing the game" unless you've played the other three quarters in the same manner. It felt like catch up for three quarters then we finally broke it. Against North Da-freaking-kota. Play the whole game! Oklahoma is licking their chops.
  24. Methinks yer right. Might have been a different outcome. We'd win, but not by more than 10 points or so. Btw we're not a Big Ten team in the same sense of others in the conference. We're much worse (as far as how good we think we should be, etc).
