  1. All of this speculation and the 10,000 plus posts in that other thread, along with Trev's dodging and silence on the matter tell me he can't find anyone willing and will take the job himself. Kidding aside, it's Jeff Traylor I tell ya.
  2. We were at what was supposed to be his first game. He had the gates on fire thing. He had the big intro and the macho look and all that. Then we had the drenching downpour and both teams left the field while there was that strange but cool party like atmosphere in the stands as some took off and tried to wring out their shirts. Then came the lightening. Then we left. Then his career here went pretty much the same direction as all that happened that night at Memorial Stadium.
  3. Man I'm having trouble with that. But it's interesting to think that he'd be smart enough to have that sort of logic going on. "Tuck tail call" is a concept we've seen often then, as we watch our guys in those situations. But I still think he's living in that old football world of "just tell them to get it done and shove it down their throats.. you can do it! blah.. " My take seems more Husker like. Yours seems more realistic as I think about it, though.
  4. Whipple's play calling seems like he believes in the O-line. That sounds funny, but the guy often calls between the guards plays on 3rd and long, as well as what you say about not deploying screen passes or quick opening draw plays much at all. That kind of play calling is confidence in the line to do the job. Quite false confidence in our case, with a few notable exceptions here and there.
  5. That's not that far fetched of a possibility.
  6. That was post #1 of well over 10 thousand, and now with over half a million views of this thread. Every coaching change we've had has produced threads, but none like this one. Somethings have changed that has made this an even bigger deal than all the other hires we've speculated on over the years. I think it's the fall of Scott Frost after such extremely lofty expectations. But there's something else, too.
  7. It's going to be Jeff Traylor I tell ya.
  8. I'm glad you said "sadly," as I would very much love to see some kind of humor/sarcastic/etc depth of personality as HC here.
  9. At this rate, it sounds like you'll be dying of boredom by the end of.... this sentence.
  10. A signature win to end the torturous season, lifting spirits from Omaha to Gering. Sandhill Cranes, Chimney Rock, and Johnny Carson's Childhood Home After Being Born Across The River Aways: 23 Grotto Of The Redemption, John Wayne Birthplace Museum, And William Frawley's Sack Of Doorknobs: 19 Passing 114 Running 128
  11. Sounds kind of wood sheddy for here. What a dork. Ooops...
  12. Looks like it's going to be Jeff Traylor. I'll be darned.
  13. Right. And the butts in the seats vs butts in bars or at home differences we're seeing speaks to game interest or lack thereof. A bad sign lately for us, and the hope is that interest grows before there is some catch up as to more people unwilling to renew their season tix. The big wealthy boosters will likely remain for some time, but there are about 90 thousand seats and they can't cover more and more and more as interest wains. That whole thing is the backdrop to all this about network cams panning the empty seats as they announce the "sellout."
  14. Dr. Tom: "Well, how did we do against that 5 - 5 Wisconsin team? L'l Red: "65 rushing yards." Dr. Tom: "We must have passed for a bundle." Lil Red: "106 passing yards." Dr. Tom: "My gosh. We must have won by very little. Well, a win is a win." L'il Red: "Go back to sleep, sir."
  15. Well see, you've highlighted the problem: As I read it that prayer thread seems to be directed at one god thingy in particular. Just one. The ones being left out are quite angry indeed, it appears.
  16. Doing that has NOT helped previous games. Unless you want to say that we could have been beaten by more points. Etc.
  17. That about Frost has been my argument against him since his second year here. I obviously agree. But, I'm speculating on Jeff Monken because of his long term winning ethic, not so much has running game, although I really do like that emphasis especially if he would recruit and develop with that in mind along side a good OC who can offer that and passing dimension.
  18. That makes sense as to the lesser competition. But not the Frost analogy, though. Frost peaked at UCF, but has deficiencies on a personal level that polluted any skill set he might have brought here. It would be quite the rare irony if this Army coach suffers those same issues.
  19. Crap targeting call. B.S. we don’t need that.
  20. Jeff Monken. Option guy. Won 4 out of 5 bowls. Hmmm.
  21. Wisconsin Badgers 24 Nebraska Huskers 27 Passing 212 Rushing 207
  22. Trusting Trev, or the coach he selects, is still a crapshoot in a few important ways. Very good people often fail, at least temporarily. Some even fully in ways that do not reflect their background. The people brought in here next will be up against one hell of a bunch of issues. Many have failed since that first couple of cycles after T.O. left. Some say a couple of them just needed more time. The arguments about that have never been resolved one way or another, as far as I can see. I'm hoping for a coach who has at least one thing in his background (and even if so it can still be a crapshoot): He went into a program that was not just faltering but was completely lost, and he righted it over time and made it into a contender. Scott Frost seemed to fit that scenario a bit, but we'd have to have a conversation about just how bad UCF was doing prior to his coming there.
  23. I'm sure your parents and grandparents love you to death.
