  1. I'm probably in favor of getting rid of it, or at least overhauling how it functionally works. The EC was never the 'best idea' the founders had, it was a last minute compromise best guess that they knew was flawed but was better than the very real threat of the country dissolving in its infancy.
  2. Those renders are a pretty magnificent sight. Hard to imagine, really. I know it's a ton of money, but it'd be a shame to see the thing get scrapped and it's unclear to me how they would do a "cheaper version" of renovating/replacing. This looks like an extremely well thought out plan that directly solves problems and adds great features to the stadium that isn't getting any younger.
  3. Yep. There are a number of reasons we are definitively not ready to move off of ICE vehicles entirely or even mostly. The grid is years away from being able to handle it, and the battery tech is still pretty far from making it an easy no brainer decision for most.
  4. Nobody's asking you to care at all
  5. For me, re: the bolded, it's the general temperature across all social media conversation but also specifically influenced by SSO's blog (whoever he is he's proven over the years to be very well informed). I know the things he's talking about here aren't exactly the conversation we're having right now in relation to Pillen and budget cuts, but its part of the general conversation: https://herbieshangout.com/2024/03/14/the-departure-of-trev-alberts/ https://herbieshangout.com/2023/12/22/nebraska-and-the-collective/
  6. Not sure about the specific assertion from Madcows post, but I think it was a more indirect problem in that reducing funds to the university all of the sudden meant that the athletic department was competing with the school for donation dollars from the same pools of donors who A. don't have unlimited vaults of gold and B. were confused on what things they should and shouldn't be donating to.

    NFL 2024

That's what people said 11 years ago (Kenny Bell's hit that precipitated the modern targeting rule was in 2012).
  8. Damn that's savage AF
  9. Stubhub tickets keep getting cheaper and cheaper. I'm more and more tempted to drive up from Atlanta although I don't think my car is up to the challenge.
  10. Mina is great. Huge Nebraska fan and one of the sharpest espn personalities around.
  11. I'm excited to rewatch with subtitles since Nolan insists on having the weirdest sound mixing in his theater experience and I don't have great hearing so I end up not being able to make out so much of the film. I will say, as much as I still enjoyed it and am excited to rewatch and engage more fully, it felt like such a waste in the IMAX 70MM format. I get that Nolan *can* and thus he will, and I think it's great that Universal. (and before them Warner Bros) were smart enough to let him tell his own stories, but that format should really be reserved for high spectacle films, and Oppenheimer is just *not* that.
  12. What are the odds they saw my post and finished up the weight room for the public to see
  13. I can't believe that facility still isn't finished.
  14. I don't know if it's known to him or not, but I think he has simply lost the fire. Hard not to when you've achieved about all you can achieve and have done it for this long. Nothing new under the sun and all that, and he's always seemed like a pretty well adjusted guy as far as highly competitive coaches go.
  15. So because Trump is a wannabe fascist piece of s#!t you rush to the defense of misinformation? Got it. Come on man. You're arguing against ghosts.
  16. You're the one that said trying to advance, not the original message you quoted.
  17. You added a whole bunch of conjecture on top of the statement you quoted, primarily in regards to the wanting and the choosing.
  18. Archy so narrowly defined the question to be framed as Republicans actively and consciously supporting the success of Russia ahead of the success of the United States. Shame on y'all for taking the bait on that, but I digress. It's not as if the GOP at large is pro Russian interests of their own volition. It's moreso that they're too stupid to realize the bedfellows they are happy to welcome in and the dangers and implications of the wolf at the door who looks like grandma who pinky promises she will keep lil Red from the gay trans athlete coastal elites.
  19. It's remarkably easy to be upset about both. Pointing out one thing that's wrong doesn't mean you're defending something else.
  20. yea bout what about Remmington
  21. Yeah but it's also Don Lemon
  22. There's plenty of ways to be wrong about it. At its base level, being opposed to the indiscriminate killing of massive numbers of civilians isn't one of 'em.
  23. What if the people of Nebraska didn't elect silly leaders.
  24. He was probably conflicted and hopeful/optimistic for longer than he should have been that the temporary frustrations were only temporary. The last actual job I had was working in full time ministry at a not-quite mega church. I was there during the rise of MAGA and also starting to witness business decisions be made in favor of spiritually healthy ones. Was trying to process it in real time, while also publicly/personally being very complimentary and offering praise for the church and the job because I did love it and I also loved the people despite the growing frustration and confusion and it took me way too long to realize it was heading in a direction I couldn't be a part of.
