      Stanford in front of Oregon makes no sense though. I'd still like to see an 8 team playoff where they use 5-6 conference champions and 2-3 at large teams.

      JMO - having to say 'no' to a team that has only a fringe claim to be deserving of a one-shot title game is better than being all-encompassing and inviting everyone, and then some to the party. 8 teams would more than cover the ones that had truly standout regular seasons and deserve to be in there.
