  1. Oh I believe he's top 10. Was the first thing I mentioned. Just concerned if he has the size is all. No biggie anymore.
  2. why do people keep saying he is going to play DE in the NFL he is being projected by everyone to be a 3-4 OLB this thing about staying to get bigger doesn't matter They are saying the same things about Gregory that they said about Aldon Smith. Whether linebacker or DE, Aldon Smith takes the end, usually with an eye for the quarterback but fast enough to contain a running back working the edge. Aldon Smith didn't need to add any weight and leading the NFL in sacks was a great precedent for guys his size. Aldon Smith is 25 pounds heavier at 265. Ezekial Ansah from BYU is 278. Both similar and athletic. Gregory is a lean 245. He looks closer to 230. I'm not saying he isn't a great player, or how it will translate, but he still isn't quite the NFL size for the heavy grind it takes against NFL tackles. Those lineman have long arms and quick first steps too. If he gets 6-7 sacks a year as 1st round pick, that really isn't great value for the money. Just my opinion. I don't want to sound like a meanie
  3. The way I thought about it was different. Riley knows USC and it's a conference foe. So I thought about Bo up against a #1 Ohio State team for a similar situation. Also considered if it was Big 12 and going up against #1 OU or #1 Texas. At the end of day, I don't see it happening.
  4. Congrats DPE! That is so incredible. What an accomplishment for a FR. He earned and deserved it. We don't beat Iowa without him, and he shifted some momentum and hope in the MSU game too. So glad he a Husker!
  5. 22 Cleveland Johnny Manziel $8,247,250 23 Kansas City Dee Ford $8,158,700 24 Cincinnati Darqueze Dennard $7,978,898 25 San Diego Jason Verrett $7,889,002 26 Philadelphia Marcus Smith $7,799,088 27 Arizona Deone Bucannon $7,709,202 28 Carolina Kelvin Benjamin $7,664,250 29 New England Dominique Easley $7,303,549 30 San Francisco Jimmie Ward $7,112,534 31 Denver Bradley Roby $6,952,528 32 Minnesota Teddy Bridgewater $6,849,502
  6. I'm not typically skeptical, but if he was sore and beaten down going into Iowa week, I can see how Bo and RG might have had a sit down to discuss his future. An injury in the last game of year would invoke rehab prior to combine, and drop his draft value some. The game wasn't deciding a team championship. But like I said, that's being skeptical of me. The structure of the NFL draft allots money per pick. The top half is 4 year guarantee, but after that the 4th year guarantee becomes negotiable. 2nd round picks are guaranteed the first two years of the 4 year contract. If you get waived after two years as a 2nd round pick, damaged goods etc, a team doesn't pay you for the last two. Here is the money allotted per pick from the past draft. A pretty big difference between a 5th pick and 15th for example. 1 Houston Jadeveon Clowney $22,272,998 2 St. Louis Greg Robinson $21,284,098 3 Jacksonville Blake Bortles $20,654,810 4 Buffalo Sammy Watkins $19,935,603 5 Oakland Kahlil Mack $18,676,999 6 Atlanta Jake Matthews $16,429,501 7 Tampa Bay Mike Evans $14,631,502 8 Cleveland Justin Gilbert $12,833,502 9 Minnesota Anthony Barr $12,743,500 10 Detroit Eric Ebron $12,249,149 11 Tennessee Taylor Lewan $11,485,004 12 New York Odell Beckham $10,406,198 13 St Louis Aaron Donald $10,136,500 14 Chicago Kyle Fuller $9,687,002 15 Pittsburgh Ryan Shazier $9,507,212 16 Dallas Zach Martin $8,967,800 17 Baltimore C.J. Mosley $8,787,999 18 New York Calvin Pryor $8,563,253 19 Miami Ja’Waun James $8,428,398 20 New Orleans Brandin Cooks $8,383,452 21 Green Bay Ha Ha Clinton-Dix $8,338,501 And as for Mel Kiper lol....He has been known to hype his projections emphatically on a players physical measurables (height/weight/arm length/hand size/40 speed/bench/neck length) for his expert analysis. He usually skips over the concept of wysiwyg on the field. He can't mention a player without immediately mentioning his height and weight first and foremost. He get's many people mislead and focusing on that as a translation to success.
  7. I haven't purchased any 2014 games. I would like to know what is the best soccer game though. If anyone can recommend one I'd appreciate it. As for hockey, I still enjoy NHL10 and haven't felt a need to upgrade. I think it's the best game since the great "Blades of Steel" After the first minute of great memories, just to 7:10 for a minute
  8. Not just a great idea, but it's the Best thread of the month! FACT!
  9. Would be funny if Cutliff took that job after turning down Michigan offer. Who would ever imagine a coach from Duke turning down Michigan. Actually, it would be even funnier if he turned them both down.
  10. An expensive leather baseball glove from my grandpa. It was a little big for me for my age, but I spent hours and days and weeks breaking it in with oil and a baseball. Over the years I eventually grew into it and it became an extension of my hand as a middle infielder and eventually a third baseman. Played with it through middle and high school. Don't remember making an error with it. But I do recall a lot of spectacular plays because of it. I loved that glove. Somehow through a family move immediately after high school, it got lost and disappeared. So when I went and played a little minor league ball without it, I just wasn't the same player. Had a hard time mentally & physically adjusting to something else. Something real strange about baseball and superstitions. Plus I wasn't quite as talented as the others, so there's that too lol. My grandpa played for the Omaha McDevitts. Not sure if anyone has every heard of them before. I think they went something like 33-1. Maybe someone's older relative remembers a little bit about them. They ended up winning a national championship. Anyway, that was my greatest Christmas gift. http://www.nebaseballhistory.com/legion/fontenelle1939.html
  11. Niiiice. Too bad I hate that Dbag (post Laker days)
  12. 8 years, 436 pages, 21,807 posts since my first post in this thread. Probably need to get an oil change.
  13. Might consider my all-time favorite band when they had Frusciante....Red Hot Riley Peppers
  14. Never seen it. Not a big Jeff Bridges fan. Maybe someday though..
  15. $100,000 to tie for first in division, but $150,000 just to make a bowl. Yeah it's interesting. Similar to Bo's. In addition I think it was 250K for BCS appearance and 500K for winning one. Maybe a little more or less, so don't quote me
  16. Gee thanks. You made me throw up on my keyboard, dammit
  17. Good thread. I think we do 4-3 and or whatever Sparty does strategically. If I'm a head coach in the B1G, that's the model I would want my coordinator to implement and teach. With the current talent on our roster, I think we would be good at it.
  18. The NFL will grab him in the first round by time its all said and done. Even though he is about 15-20lbs underweight for NFL DE. He's a little too lean and will get worn down. I hope he returns for my selfish Husker reasons, and I think he is still a year away from being able to put it all together. Not the best against the run for example.
  19. Fielding ideas for name change. I used to live and work in Addison for several years. It has some nice sports bars and good restaurants there too. Well I moved from that city a year ago and changed jobs so I don't work there either. Also looking to support the new guy Mike Riley. Any suggestions? I know y'all are pretty creative. Some ideas like....Riley Factor, Life of Riley and Riley Coyote. And something that just made me laugh to myself - Riley Cyrus Lots of AVI/Profile Pic possibilities with that one lol If I like yours I might use it! But whatever I go with, after I submit the change I'll make a subtle note of name change in my sig for a little while. Kind of helps in case you are used to skipping over my posts
  20. Just saw this and thought if anyone has any curiosity of getting a projector, I can provide a little input. I bought one on Amazon in early 2012. It's a Viewsonic 720p. I spent about 3 months go through reviews and finally felt strongly about the one I picked out. I wanted a Large screen for sports and movies for my lounge room. And I didn't want to spend too much money. At the time the big LCD TVs were 47 and just a few were hitting 60. I got a deal on the projector for around $320. I figured that was the same as getting a 32 LCD (at the time) so I went for it. Also got free shipping. Prior to pulling the trigger I was looking at painting a wall with projector paint and pricing screens. I was picky about the screen until I found one that I loved because you basically roll the screen out and connect it to it's black felt boarders (easily) and uses hooks to hand on the wall. I tested it out with a couple of small thin nails (it was that light) and it was perfect. Looked like an 82" wide screen TV, big, but not too big. I took the room dimensions and viewing angles into consideration and learned the best size would be 82. So I bought the screen online onsale for $160. But....to pull the trigger so easily on that was a situation where a coworker did not and could not work on a scheduled Saturday shift. He offered me $100 right there in cash to work for him. Done deal. So I applied that to the screen, and the final cost for a new entertainment projector and screen was under $400. I also thought the worst case was that it would be good enough for the price, while also knowing no 1080HD, some possible lighting issues despite reviewers saying there wasn't any, and bulb replacement. Well guess what? It was fantastic! I love it. It's 720, it's pretty darn sharp, and looks professional and beautiful on the wall. Well it's approaching 3 years since then and here are the only two issues. The bulb light indicator went on after a year and a half, and I had to replace it (bulb & housing). $220 bucks for it, but found a non mfg brand replacement for $80. That was a bit of relief. However it still was a little steep and it bothered that it did not last at least 3 years. So that is something to consider, because one day out of the blue you get a very quick & sudden warning that you need a new one. The other issue, which is mostly because it wasn't a high end projector, is that it is a little noisy, takes a few seconds to warm up when you turn it on, and also puts out a lot of heat. You don't necessary feel the heat blowing out like a hair dryer, but it doesn't take long before the rooms starts warming up. It's not bad during the winter, but very uncomfortable during long hot summers and warm weeks during spring and fall. You start using more AC and fans to compensate the warm room. Oh and the speakers were lousy but I hooked up to stereo speakers which nipped that in the bud. Overall, if you can find one on craigslist or ebay for 100 or less, you really will enjoy it. Sports, Movies, Video Games, CNN, History Chanel, Discovery, ESPN, Concert DVDs, etc looks really really good. I had no light issues regardless if I had window light or lamps on. And now days LCDs are 70+ in size which for 10 - 20x the price there is no comparison in quality. One of my friends ended up buying a projector for his game room for $3000, 1080HD, and the size of room allows for 110 (mine gets that big too). He had techs come out and install everything, so he spent a ton. And when we compare, his is better, but only slightly better. So if anyone is thinking or considering, it really is pretty cool to have especially if you don't spend too much for it. Oh, and a few times I went camping with some friends and I brought it along for my buddies kids. Connected a small DVD player to it for them to watch a movie when the sun was going down while we grilled and drank lol. Just used a sheet to project on one time, and used the side window of my canopy another. Was pretty cool.
  21. Since the breaking news about going to OSU, seriously, has Anderson hired his whole staff yet? I mean, it's been a few hours and the clock is ticking!!!1
  22. Nebraska, Michigan, Wisconsin - big name football schools with new coaches for next year.... That's unthinkable
  23. Very happy for Oregon State though. Of all the Pac 10/12 teams, I've always liked the beavers. Have no idea what will happen to Wisc now...
