  1. I would be shocked and upset if the depth chart comes out like this: Imani Cross (Sr) 6'1 230 lbs - OR - Terrell Newby (Jr) 5'10 200 lbs - OR - Jordan Nelson (Jr) 5'7 180 lbs
  2. And what are these great odds that, had Bo and Staff remained in place, would honestly do against.... USC Bowl Game Then: 2015 BYU South Alabama at Miami Fla (rematch) Southern Miss at Illinois Wisconsin at Minnesota Northwestern Purdue Michigan State at Rutgers Iowa Seriously, If SE came out the day after Iowa and sent out a show of support statement for Bo & his staff, with no changes needed on a 9-3 team. I see a loss to BYU & at Miami. From 0-1 to 2-2. With a couple more losses in B1G. 8-4. But also quite possibly 7-5. Plus a loss to USC in the bowl game. That's my honest opinion.
  3. 42-24 Bama over Ohio State. Sorry but, Roll Tide
  4. OSU is gonna lose worse than Mizzou did? Joey Bosa is pretty good I think. He's white isn't he? All those White NFL lineman that Wisconsin/Big Ten puts in the NFL don't count anymore? If we keep A'Shawn Robinson out of the backfield then I like our odds. Cardale Jones is still 6-5, 250lb and I think we are gonna try to speed this up. OSU had a better resume than TCU. way better. If beating an 8-4 OU or 9-3 Kansas St is your top win then there is a problem. If you wanna talk about OSU vs Baylor then I'll listen but there was no conspiracy with TCU. I think you have your Buckeye colored glasses on. Or you are just pumping out your chest. I think TCU is better the OSU and played a tougher schedule. Apparently they did not do enough to get in, and so I can only wish the Buckeyes well. I'll root for them to not get crushed by Alabama. It's unfortunate they don't have Barret. I think he makes a huge difference. With him, OSU has a chance against Bama. Now about your better resume. It's funny you went there. Thinking it is waaay better than TCU. Well then, let's have a look. I know this is a long read, so grab some popcorn. TCU Best non-con game: Beat Minnesota 30-7. Yes the Gophers turned out to have a nice team, bouncing in and out of the polls even. Worst non-con game: Beat FCS Samford 48-14. But that's just the beginning. Let's go over the whole season. Week 1: FCS Samford you know about Week 2: Minnesota you know about Week 3: SMU 56-0 (old rival team that sucks) Week 4: Beat #4 ranked OU. The Sooners were 4-0, recieving 1st place votes, and still rolling along with full steam since they beat Alabama in the Bowl game. TCU was an underdog and yet they beat a Bob Stoops team from beginning to end. After that, OU was exposed and did not respond too well because of it. TCU shook up their season. Week 5: After emotional win, once again TCU was a 5 point underdog playing #5 undefeated Baylor on the road. TCU was up 21 points in the fourth quarter. Baylor fought back and tied the game. TCU was in FG range with under 2 minutes to play. On 4th and 4 they elected to go for a 1st down. There was a no-call pass interference that the TV crew said was missed. Baylor took over and got into FG range with a phantom pass interference call on TCU. Same TV crew said they didn't see any interference. Baylor kicks FG and wins by 3. Week 6: Facing another ranked opponent for the third week in a row, and after back to back emotional weeks against top 5 teams, they destroyed #15 Oklahoma State 42-9 while racking up nearly 700 yards of offense and shutting down the Cowboys to just 3 Field Goals. Week 7: Hello Texas Tech 82-27 (man that's 3 TDs away from 100pts) Week 8: Another ranked opponent, #20 West Virginia was home of college game day. Lots of excitement and fun to host that. Loud fans. Good game. However, TCU found a way win their 4th game against a ranked opponent in 5 weeks. Sheesh, it can't get any tougher than that, can it? Week 9: A road game against a tough, disciplined Bill Snyder Kstate team that is ranked #7 in the nation. In a span of 6 weeks. Are you kidding me? Well I kid you not! TCU rolls through Manhatten to an impressive 41-20 victory. Yep, that's 5 ranked opponents in 6 weeks. 3 of them were ranked between 4 and 7. But I guess since they played an FCS school and lost a road game as an underdog by a FG to the #5 team in the country, there just isn't enough there. Week 10/11/12: Beat KU 34-30, Texas Longhorns 48-10, and Iowa State 55-3. Will note that Charlie Strong has a stout defense this year and pitiful offense. Not stout enough though. In summary, itwas a great year for TCU. A heisman candidate, the 2nd highest scoring team in the country behind Oregon, and a defense that was 16th in the nation for points allowed per game. All that accomplished while playing 6 ranked teams. And if you don't think it matters where a team is ranked at the time of a matchup, TV execs and Vegas think otherwise. Now lets look at Ohio State. Because they played a tougher schedule as you say. I know you did because I highlighted it. And you did it with so much boldness. Well I looked it over and I see you beat Navy as your best non-conf win. Hmmm. And then there's that upset lost to unranked Virginia Tech by 14 points (ouch, too soon?). I also see that you beat a few other crappy teams before playing your first conference game of the season against......Maryland? Eh,...But you came back the next week in another big conference game against.....Rutgers? Hmmm. So far, your schedule is not looking too impressive there. I mean, 6 games in and you beat Navy and some East Coast rejects that joined the B1G. Meanwhile TCU is 2-1 against three ranked opponents, including two of them ranked in the top 5. It's up there, go ahead and read it again if you want. But that's okay, you've lost to Va Tech but beat Maryland & Rutgers at this point. I'm not so sure your team is even ranked at the moment. The next week it heats up because you got Penn State to play. I mean, let's ignore that they were on a two game losing streak before playing the Buckeyes. And you obviously do. Because lucky for you, after 4 quarters against a bad Nittany Lion team, you guys are all tied up. But wait, the game isn't over. Someone must win. Yay for overtime! And a good thing too because you did it! You beat Penn State! 3 stars for the Buckeyes! But what could be the reason for such a tough game? I know, it's because Ohio State was looking past Penn State to the following week, right? NOPE. It's just Illinois. Wah-Waah. But that's okay too. You win the game and next it's Michigan State. Uh-huh. Now we are getting real. And guess what, it's good win for the Buckeyes. Seriously, good for you guys. You pounded them on the road, and the Spartans were ranked #8. Hey wait a second, let's take another look at what that means. It's the 9th week into the season and you finally played a ranked opponet. 9 weeks? My gosh, the season is nearly over! Well Good job Buckeyes! I mean, there's only 3 regular season games left. That schedule must have been brutal to get through so far. Which means the following week you play Minnesota and guess what? They've been having a good year (although TCU beat the snot out of them earlier in the season, but that's ok), and they are ranked #25... out of a 1-25 ranking system. Woo Whoo! That helps beef up your resume, doesn't it? Oh well, it doesn't matter you say, because the Buckeyes are up for the challenge of a ranked team and are ready to roll. After all said and done, OSU beats the Gophers by....a touchdown. Oh no...Why did you do that? Now Minnesota won't be ranked anymore. Oh darn. But it's okay because you still have one final regular season game against Brady Hoke's Michigan team. Didn't he get fired? Well Michigan did beat that Penn State team before you played them. Anyway, you do good and you win that game too. So in recap, going into the Conference Championship Game that you clearly earned, Ohio State has beaten Navy, lost to Va Tech, and fast forwad through a whopper of a schedule, to wins against Michigan St and .....well Minnesota was ranked so yeah, you guys played 2 ranked teams out of 12 games. 2 ranked teams out of 12. 2 ranked teams out of 12. Is this sinking in yet??? If not, well let's just give out more stars for the Buckeyes. And good for you, because in the end you steam rolled #13 Wisconsin, and thus cementing all proof and clear evidence that your Buckeyes have played a tougher schedule than TCU - as you say - and opened the eyes of the College Football World Committee. And for your most deserving reward, the entire college football universe gets to see the stellar Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes - along with their 3rd string QB who will be making just his second start ever - against the #1 ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. Congrats to the Buckeyes, buddy. Keep beating out your chest and popping that collar. Your team definitely belongs. And good luck too, because you might need it....Roll Tide.
  5. huskerfan92, that link is NSFW. Or for anyone with asthma, heart problems, indigestion symptoms, anxiety disorders, all husker fans young and old, and any former blackshirt that came through the program prior to BC/BP era.
  6. I could see him in the running back mix. Trevone Boykin was bounced around between QB, WR and RB. He was raw and a gunslinger as a QB, but very athletic. He did whatever they asked him to do (TCU). New OC came in this past year with a new playbook and system, and he won the QB job over an Aggie transfer that backed up Manziel. Look how great that turned out. Coaching can make a difference if a player has the tools and applies what he learns. Boykin is really unbelievable and a totally team player. It's been great seeing him grow each year. As for Armstrong, I really think it depends if the new staff can help him improve, and whether TA will embrace, learn and apply. The new staff knows QB's pretty well apparently, so it will come down to TA. If he can't, then he won't be starting.
  7. you need to put a lot of context around that versus just throwing out a number. if anyone proved the number 9 meaningless it was Bo Pelini. 9 the way some teams do it can get you a top 10-15 ranking...9 the way Bo did it leaves you unranked. Completely agree. Side Note: The Huskers moved up one spot in the coaches poll since Pelini got axed. In the coaches eyes, we've already improved under Riley.
  8. I liked that video. I would line up and play my tail off for this guy and work with my teammates to become the best line in the conference. Not to be misunderstood though. I wouldn't fight for him at the gates of hell because, well, that place just aint my thing.
  9. Hey winner, that's a really good point. Definitely adds another dimension to many possible factors. We've all seen these players. Lots of good talent on this team.
  10. Maybe Cavanaugh meant "four others". Like, in addition to him. Or maybe didn't consider a special team guy. They never get a lot of love. Nature of the beast.
  11. So that is perfect with our division. Who runs a spread in the Big Ten West? Purdue?NW. Maybe Illinois. Then what happens if we make the CCG, get boat raced? In that case, if we make it to the CCG then you should be happy & proud of that. Plus it means 9 or more wins buddy See, it's all good no matter how bad you want it to not work before the season starts. (That's the heavy impression I get)
  12. Benning said that? Awesome to hear. Makes me think I am not imagining things.
  13. I am encouraged to hear this about Bray. I think the Husker's linebackers have been sorely misused. It has been a soft spot on our defense for several years. I hope we see some improvement and from what you said, I tend to believe it will happen. Off the top of my head, when I think of college football linebackers, I think of USC, Ohio State, Miami, FSU, LSU, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Alabama, Penn State, Notre Dame.... I would love to see us become a great LB school because it has been a long while since we've been near that level of consistency. Plus I think it's the heart and soul of the blackshirts identity. Or at least the backbone. With the previous staff is was the secondary of safeties and DBs.
  14. Really can't say what is going to happen. But, sometimes a coach can work well with better talent. And with a good scheme and plan in place that suits his players strengths, a coach can have lots of success. Kind of the same thing where less talented players can make a coach look awful. Or a particular difficult and nutty scheme. Lots of things to take into consideration. I am at least more interested in seeing what he can do with the talent we have here at Nebraska. There are some really good players on this squad. Real good. The previous co-DC's (ahem) failed to produce good results with this talent by installing a concept that was heavier on the brain instead of brawn, speed and quickness. Too much thinking and read responsibilities for each player that if one or two guys misread something, it all fell apart. They didn't execute or weren't in the right spot. I think guys were more nervous about screwing up and getting earful on the sidelines in front of everyone. Instead, things should have been less complicated so the players could do their job and perform at a high level from within their natural athletic ability. /Hope /Thoughts & Rant
  15. As a TCU fan for a long time (yet no comparison to my die hard husker devotion), I feel bad they did not make it. Nothing I can do about it but say congrats to the Buckeyes. Will root for you and wish you the best. Do the B1G proud.
  16. And I'm still down that TCU didn't do enough to make it......
  17. I agree. It should only be 4. I don't look at it as a tournament. Instead, I view it as a way to eliminate chaos between who plays for the championship if you have 3 deserving teams. I think the case for the 4th team getting the shot to play for championship won't always be valid. In other words, with the previous model, Alabama vs FSU for the CG. But some would have a valid argument that Oregon deserved to play in the CG instead of FSU. Now it is clear these 3 teams all have a shot. With good debate for a 4th team. Making it 6 or 8 is silly. The Cinderella underdogs are given a chance during the season. It's not a tourney for a chance to make it and be one and done. Which probably happens 9/10 times.
  18. No TCU?.... sniff, sniff... kinda dusty in here.
  19. DING DING DING...we have a winner. There are folks so anti-Bo that when a potentially s****y hire is staring them in the face, they choose not to see it. I was willing to give the Riley hire a chance, provided the right coordinators and staff showed up under him--again, our AD said money wasn't a concern. But when Riley is bringing his defensive buddies from OSU with him...the same ones that choked against Eastern Washington, NOT Wisky, and the same ones the OSU fans wanted run out on a rail for incompetence...it's becoming clear this is quickly becoming a s****y hire and the mistake to end all mistakes with this progam. So what do people choose to see when 70-31 & 59-24 is staring them in the face? Part of the process? Stay the course? There are a lot more examples of poor play in meaningful games if needed. Give us a break and allow us to be excited and hopeful with Riley & whatever staff he puts together. We are looking forward to a new season. We are done with the past. Y'all fans that criticize this idea is something Bo would be proud of. And J Mitchell too.
  20. Back to the staff. What are the missing pieces still needed? And what is confirmed besides LB, ST, and OSU's DC guy? Has it been announced if he will be the DC or maybe DL/Assistant HC? Thanks..
  21. Change was needed. It's a good hire. I'm not backing down from that just a few days into it. Might not be popular by I don't care. I'm staying positive.
  22. Well, TCU's sole lose was to a top 6 Baylor team. OSU's was to Va Tech. Plus, I think TCU has more quality wins. I don't see OSU jumping them. FSU has to lose. WIth this theory, even if FSU loses, they lose to a ranked 11 team and that would still be above OSU, so the top 4 wouldnt changeSo TCU should throw out their entire season of work because of one game that was made by the Conference? Iowa State's record is their problem, not TCU.I'm not the one ranking these teams, but after watching how they rank them, it makes no sense to me. Why would FSU be #4 when they are undefeated since last year and as returning champs? There will be some valid arguments for 4th spot. Alabama, Oregon, FSU are in. The team that has the best chance to beat one of those three teams should be in. I think TCU has a better defense and offense than Ohio State, they've played more ranked teams, and their Heisman hopeful is healthy and will start. That's where I lean towards them. But who knows. It's just my opinion.
